The King (2019)
I wanted it to be a 9, but this movie thinks to much of itself to be more than 6
First Henry was not a wayward son. He had a falling out if I remember but not to the point this movie portrays. I cannot properly find the words to explain more, but the movie thinks more of itself than it deserves. Yes Henry was a good king as we look back on this time and yes Agincourt was a very important battle for the English and our current way of life. Also the interaction between Henry and the french girl (whose name I forget now) is ridiculous and frankly unrealistic. These things are Hollywoodisms I understand but this is a movie about actual people and events. Why make them fake? There are enough lies already.
Jack Ryan (2018)
7 stars only because of season one
I am two episodes into season two and it is full of predictable trash. Their is no real intrigue or character building or spy stuff happening at all. All the wrong people die, there is no depth to the story. You know what is going to happen minutes before it happens. So far the only interesting part of the show is what is going on with Bishop and that has been a grand total of maybe 7-9 minutes of the nearly 120 minutes of the show so far and it is not even a major character. however, the way this show is going they will ruin it soon enough I am sure.
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
Good concept poor execution
This movie is going along great until about 30 minutes in then things either in the script or from the director start going a bit sideways. Locke freaks over his radio making noise and giving away his location all while he is shining a bright flashlight all around the tunnel. Maddox makes a rookie move and gets his gun taken away. Then Locke leaves his partner injured without using his radio to call for help to chase the suspect. A lot of reviewer talk about the agenda of this film and while they are on the right track they miss the important bit about the fact that this show is about thought control and that is a common theme in movies and other movies do a better job than this one. ultimately they are attempting to send the message that we should love each other and be more forgiving then we are today. we all know this but we all fail a little or a lot each day. There is nothing wrong with this film and its theme just the execution of the telling.
Shooter (2016)
I know its fiction but...(7 stars for me is decent to watch but not great)
I know this is all fiction, I get it, the writers were doing a believable job until episode ten and thing went beyond belief. First and this is small, the red rounds that played a big part in the assignation, they were being used in the close combat of the forest. Bob Lee as a sniper would not have used these rounds to kill the drones that were sent after him. First they are rare and second the power they have would not be needed for this engagement. Next they took a lot of loose ends and tried to make them all neat a tidy by bringing in the NSA and I do not think it was a very neat job. It was to much of a leap of faith and then to wrap Isaac into the mix was again to much. It is frustrating to take what was a well done show and have the writers in a single episode throw all the hard work away for an easy fix to a complicated situation. By episode 4 of season 2 I had had enough, Season 1 had the wife in complete trust of her husband, season two had Bob Lee saying again and again "You just gotta trust me I'm gonna fix this....". He said it to many time for me to keep track and his wife suddenly seemed unable to trust him. I get it she was done with the BS but either you trust or you do not and since she was so hell bent on confessing her absolute and blind trust of him in season one, I the viewer< have to wonder what happned that she now seems to have lost that or he feels she has so strongly that he has to repeat the above phase again and again.
Cop Car (2015)
To slow
I wanted to like this and tried but could not enjoy the film. It is an youths adventure with a twist.
Righteous Kill (2008)
Not to bad
Unfortunately this was a little to easy to figure out. Had I been paying a bit more attention I would have seen it sooner than 45 to 60 minutes into the film. I think the acting was okay, not the best I have seen from these guys and some of the story was a bit to predictable to include the ending. To bad because this could have been a truly good film. As it is it is not to bad and not to good.
Unlocked (2017)
Decent Movie
Pretty good movie. Lots of surprises and twists, have not seen one with this many good turns and unexpected events in awhile. I will just say do not get to attached to any one character because you never know what might happen. Worth watching.
Blood Money (2017)
D.B. Cooper
In 1972 a passenger boarded a commercial flight using the name D B Cooper. He parachuted somewhere over the pacific NW with a lot of stolen money and was never seen again. Years later some money was found that was linked to the robbery and really no other clues were ever located. Many have speculated and some have searched for the missing money. This movie obviously uses this event as a basis for the movie. It is a good idea to start but poorly written dialog. The actors minus John Cusack, are not good or believable.
The Prince (2014)
Star 2 is for the male actors
OMG. This is horrible. Well the female lead is horrible. She is completely unbelievable and fake beyond words. I wanted her to get shot within seconds of her first appearance. Lucky for me I tried this on Netflix and did not buy a ticket.
I Am Wrath (2016)
Almost......
Chris and John do a great job as would be expected. Some of the scenes they were in could have been better. This is likely a director or script issue. I would have given this a 7 (which to me is a decent movie) but the scene that took the 7th star....well no spoilers in this review. I did chuckle a bit at that scene since it was so poorly written and unbelievable. I do wish they had done a bit better of a job with the interactions of Chris and John I think they missed a great opportunity there.
Casablanca (1942)
Fantastic
A spectacular show with some great acting and arguably the greatest actor of all time. This film is a great example of great film making. You will enjoy this film, get some popcorn and a drink of your choice and sit down for a couple hours of fantastic film.
Knightfall (2017)
cliche
Did any of you reviews read the message at the start of the series? I am going to guess you did not since it states that the show is not historically accurate and many of you are complaining that the show is historically inaccurate. What ever the case this show is simply a remake of every show ever done about the Crusades. Well at least all the bad bits of those shows. Horrible accents, fake tough guys, bad acting, wanna be menly-men, poor plot, to much action, bad CGI the list goes on. It is an okay way to waste an afternoon however so it gets a 5 star rating.
The Punisher (2017)
Predictable
So, I see by the high ratings this show has gotten by viewers that many of its fans have low expectations. I can tell you after watching two episodes that I have know everything that was going to happen in the next scene before it happened. That is not a good show that is a formula. Jon Bernthal is fantastic and I think he does an outstanding job in this show. They should have held onto C. Thomas Howell much longer than they did, he is a fantastic rival/bad guy. As to the rest of the cast, eh they are okay I suppose. I think had they kept "Danny" from episode one and made him a confidant of Franks that the show could have been a bit better. If you are a fan of poor writing and predicable scripts then this is the show for you. If like me you have time to kill and literally nothing better to do then you can kill some time with this show. Why? Because it is the kind that you can get up and let run as you go get the mail or a drink or go to the bathroom and come back and know exactly what has happened while you were gone and what will be next.
Another Life (2019)
A few words.......Childish drivel
NIKO, WILLIAM and CAS (to a lesser degree) are the only none 16 year old spoiled little brats in this series. The ship psychologist is also a good character but the whole trans/cross dresser thing or whatever that is supposed to be adds nothing to the show (at least up to Ep. 4). Lets also not forget that the females largely run around in their underwear. I have no real issue with women in their underwear, but this is not the type of show for that. While I was writing this Ep. 5 started and I noticed that they took a shuttle to the planet instead of the whole ship like they did in a previous episode. Why? It goes unexplained why they can land the entire ship on one planet and not on the other planet. They did however stay true to Sci-Fi tradition and NOT land next to their primary destination.
