Violentia (2018)
Kept talking about it afterwards!
Although this is a sci-fi movie, it attempts to address something much deeper, to gain understanding of what makes a person violent. You get to go 'inside' a mind of a psychopath. which is a bit unsettling, because of the picture and sound effects when you are 'in' the psychopath's memories.
The movie has a couple of nice twists, having watched the movie with my other half, we kept talking about it afterwards.
All in all a very satisfying watch. There should be more sci-fi movies like this with a theme that has roots in reality not just killing random aliens. Worth a watch.
Homeland (2011)
Just finished watching season 7. As always had to binge watch it.
Just finished watching season 7. I have watched all previous ones except season 6 which I have started watching now.
Carry and Saul were again at their very best. I don't know what's about this series, but once you start watching you cannot stop. Such a time sink. I think the the mad pace of the series.
Acting was high quality and the story was convincing. Please go ahead and watch it if you already haven't
Mirzapur (2018)
The last episode is so thrilling that its scary!
I myself lived in a small town in UP and did my schooling there. I understand the tone, culture, gang violence and the raw language. The first thing that struck me was the how real and genuine the portrayal of life in a small town.
The gang violence and political influence shown was so true and the way it has been shown is downright scary. How can you make a katta look scary! Watch this to know how.
The last episode was so thrilling that it was downright scary! My heart must have skipped beats. I am talking about the marriage scene without giving any spoilers.
Go watch it!
Delhi Crime (2019)
Fantastic!
Just finished watching this on Netflix UK. Such a fantastic series!
The director could easily have gone overboard with such a high-profile case, but that wasn't the case. The approach to film-making was measured. Acting was of the highest standard.
The series evokes the right kind of emotion as you watch it. It not only makes you feel sad for the girl and her situation, but also evokes inspiration to how the police followed up with the case.
One think which avoids me from giving it a 10 is the angle of perpetrators. Nothing was covered on their backgrounds, what motivated them to do it (there was a bit where it was told that Jai Singh was a widower and increasingly frustrated and mad) but a bit more would have given us a sense of why such insanity may come from.
Overall, highly recommended. I just love Rajesh Tailang's acting. He is so genuine. I loved his acting in Mirzapur as well.
And of-course Adil Hussain, whose acting was so perfect for the character.
Get Out (2017)
Intriguing!
A must watch! Such a different story and very well made. Its very gripping and the story builds up such that it just gets better and better as the movie progresses. I was recommended to watch this movie, and I had a clue what it was about, but I didn't imagine it to be this good.
Acting was very good all around and the directory did a fantastic job to put the perfect amount of spookiness.
Highly recommend.
