The Black Phone (2021)
Fantastic
I'm incredibly disappointed in humans as a whole, but especially after visiting this movie's page and seeing it rated a 6.9
You've got to be kidding me. Just goes to show, it's mainly complainers and haters that bother reviewing movies on here.
The attention to detail placing you in the early 70s rivals the glory that is stranger things for its ability to transport you in time.
First of all the main character Finn does a phenomenal job. There's something about his face and overall demeanor, that you're really rooting for this kid.
They made it realistic in giving the Grabber a type, cuz they always have one.
He always went for the fighters, the neighborhood tough kids. But the smart ones, not the mindless cave kids that beat up Finn.
The grabber wanted the challenge
At first it seams off that he'd pick Finn. But in the end it makes perfect sense.
Because of his genetics, he's the first kid that could hear the previous victims. His sister who's even more touched becomes crucial as well.
She's a great little actor herself.
The drunk dad is played by the actor who plays dicky Bennett, if you're a "justified" fan.
The only criticism I can make, which may be why sole viewers underrated is,
Just a couple details that didn't make sense.
But let's be real, there's holes in EVERY thriller. And the ones here don't come close to out weighing the good.
WARNING if you suffered childhood abuse, part of this movie in the beginning is extremely triggering
I have ptsd but I've had tons of therapy so it took me to a dark place but I breathed through it. It was unsettling how accurately portrayed the incident was. I had lived that moment many times
*SPOILERS IF YOU HAVENT SEEN IT, STOP HERE!!*
First being, the grabber bringing him glass bottles. He could have easily gotten out sooner had he just jabbed one in this guys neck.
He also could have killed him much faster at the end.
But that wouldn't have been as satisfying and symbolic
Second, after he was abducted there's no way the grabber would have left the weapon he used to stab him in his pocket lol and he would have droooed it the second he was whippet dosed. He was knocked out until he woke up in the basement, so how was it still on him??
It's also odd it never occurred to this smart to jab this guy in the neck before going out the door?
Also once he caught him why not scream anyway? He's not gonna gut you on the front lawn of his murder house.
But that's all knit picky stuff you find in literally any thriller/horror.
The Order (2019)
Great!!!!
Love the casting and the storyline. Only wish there were more episodes in a season!! If you like magic and werewolves you will love this. If you watch mtvs teen wolf series you'll love this one too. The casting is strong and keeps you pulled in even if the story goes momentarily in a direction you don't like. It's not predictable either which is refreshing. They keep you guessing but resolve issues soon enough ur aren't worn out by them.
Kentucky Justice (2013)
Why r there not more seasons???
This is a fantastic law enforcement show. I watch all the different ones out there. Where it takes place is super interesting, especially if you're a fan of the fictional show justified.
It's very well edited and put together. No expense was spared in video/audio production.
I cannot understand why nat geo didn't shoot more seasons. It was very popular and unique.
It's similar to southern justice but better. The sherrifs office employees make the show great rather than the criminals. Especially the sherrif
