The Boys: The Instant White-Hot Wild (2022)
People will not be satisfied until they kill Homelander.
No, Homelander doesn't die in this one. But the entire power dynamic of the show has shifted - Vought has nothing keeping it in check anymore, Honelander has realised he can literally do whatever he wants and now has an up-and-coming Homelander Jr. In Ryan. Noir is dead, Maeve is off the board. Butcher's on a countdown, and The Boys no longer have anyone inside of Vought. Things are arguably in a worse place than ever. Very excited to see where they go from here.
The Boys: Payback (2022)
A Fantastic Opening
Seeing as we're jumping forward a year and facing down the barrel of a massive status quo shift, this episode had some heavy lifting to do. However, it passed the test with flying colours. Not only did it provide us a well-paced catch-up to where everyone stands as-is, the episode provides some very fun and interesting new relationships to be explored over the season.
The ending of the episode provides some great tension, gore and sets up a solid plot thread and character building for a main cast member while also adding depth to a previously slightly two-dimensional character.
Overall, very, VERY good opening to the season. At this moment in time, my favourite in the series.
Threat Level Midnight: The Movie (2011)
A masterpiece for the ages
How does one put into words the excellence of this film?
Simple. You can't. But I'll attempt it.
Threat Level Midnight is a work of art on so many levels. With a deep, introspective story, superb acting and truly believable characters with understandable motivations, Michael Scott's "Threat Level Midnight" will be entered into the annals of history as a medium-defining masterpiece.
