The Wild Blue Yonder (2005)
I can't stop thinking about it
Most of the reviews of this movie on here are negative. I can TOTALLY see where they are coming from, but it seems that everyone else's LEAST favorite parts are what transfixed me. Yes, some of the astronauts-in-space shots went on a bit long, but the music is so beautiful. The opera, tribal music, and string instruments used throughout the film, to me anyway, illustrated the beauty contained in the unknown and unknowable. The shots under the "frozen sky" really DO look like an alien landscape. They are beautifully shot, and bring with them a feeling of both freedom and claustrophobia. And Brad Dourif's voice, his eyes, they make him a more convincing alien that ANY million-dollar sci-fi blockbuster. Just a man kicking dirt at the side of the road, so upset as his (and OUR) failings. If you have PATIENCE, try this movie.
Cookers (2001)
what a crappy movie!
Judging by the hype, and other reviews on this site, I was ready for an awesome horror movie focusing on junkies. What i got was complete crap focusing on junkies. I wonder if there's another movie called "Cookers" that these people reviewed? There are only 3 main characters, and none of them struck me as well-written or well-acted. Basically the whole movie I just spent shaking my head and marveling at the stupidity of these drug addicts.
Do yourself a favor. Don't rent this movie. Rent "Cabin Fever" or some other decent horror movie. Hell, rent "Mary Poppins"! The animated penguins are scarier and more convincing than anything you'll find in "Cookers."
Plaga zombie: Zona mutante (2001)
A great, cheap slaughter-fest
Man o man I love zombie movies. If you do too, the chances are good that you'll like this little gem. Here are a few key facts: 1) It's Argentinian. And the DVD I got does not have a dubbed version, only subtitles. So if you're one of those wussies who can't handle reading and watching at the same time.....
2) It must have had a budget of about 7 Argentinian dollars. Rather than taking away from the film, I think it actually makes it better. The gore is fantastic for a low-budget foreign horror flick.
3) The actors are obviously having a blast. Two of the main characters also wrote and directed this. They have a lot of really good shots, some kick-a$$ action sequences, and many shots of "Bill" simply looking pi$$sed.
All in all, if you like gore/splatter flicks, zombie flicks, or just plain kick-a$$ flicks, go ahead and get this movie.
Urban Menace (1999)
simply the worst movie made
holy smokes, there is nothing good about this movie. the performances are obviously forced. big, mean rappers that are pretending to be drug lords can't even sound like they're not reading their lines, and the lines are in ebonics. there's nothing sadder than fat joe and big pun completely flubbing lines such as, "that's right, dog." janet reno would have been more convincing. if you want to watch this movie, i recommend only the first minute, which has enough swears to keep you satisfied for a long, long time
Pinwheel (1976)
i LOVED this show when i was little
i had completely forgotten about this show until i found it here at imdb. if they ever repeat it, i definitely urge you to watch this with your children. though not quite as good as sesame street, it is certainly better than barney or any of the other "edu-tainment" programs created just so parents have to buy lunchboxes and underoos. though in my head i know i may be a little off, my heart and my inner child insist i give this program a perfect 10.
