Hollywood Homicide (2003)
Two cops working on solving a homicide of some really bad guys and got them into all kinds of trouble (I think)
This movie is hard for me to summarize because it was so confusing. Two cops were working together on a homicide, one older (Ford) and a younger partner. Frankly I had difficulty following the plot. All this business of selling his house and the romance (?) with Ruby got in the way. I didn't even get it. Maybe it's just me but I thought this was one of the worst movies I have ever seen and I couldn't believe an actor of Harrison Ford's caliber would even consider being in this movie. Normally I love Harrison Ford and was looking forward to watching it on late night TV However, it was awful. When it was over (and I wish I hadn't stayed until the end) I felt like someone was kidding me. This wasn't really Harrison Ford, was it? So sad! I'll grant you he doesn't look his age but he also wasn't acting his age. Come on - 60 is 60. Let's have a little dignity.
The Majestic (2001)
A film-writer accused of being a communist loses his memory in an auto accident and ends up in a small town where he is thought to be a missing-in-action World War II hero.
This is one of my favorite Jim Carey movies and I have watched it over and over. It really shows his versatility as an actor, not just a comic, and I loved the plot. An old fashioned movie with no bad language, sex or violence. It was extremely well cast and I really liked the old gentleman who lived in the basement of the theater and was so dignified. Every time I see him with his "Dog" I get a lump in my throat. Jim Carey plays such a caring role and his relationship with Harry is so warm and believable. The way he gets the town to rally around the Majestic is fun and wonderful. The woman who plays his lady-friend is beautiful and I wish I could see her in other movies. One of my favorite all time films.
Scrooge (1970)
Taken from the Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol" and set to what I consider wonderful music. Great adaptation.
This is one of our family's favorite movies and we watch it every Christmas. Someone previously commented that he (or she) hated the song "Thank you very much" and I think it is probably our favorite part of the whole movie. The Hot Soup Man who sings it is wonderful. The part of Isabel Fezziwig is great and she is really a beautiful woman. Mr and Mrs. Fezziwig are great too especially at their Christmas party and their dancing. We love this movie and maybe some scenes have been left out but that's OK. Also the part of Bob Crachit is much better cast by a younger man because he is the father of many young children. They are an ordinary family and to me much more realistic. We love it.
