The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999)
Decent thriller-esque, worth a watch
Reminded me of Hitchcock and Frenzy.
Good actors. Interesting. Different. Surprising. Dark.
Long-ish. Stylish.
Don't need to watch again but I imaging it could be interesting with foresight.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
Not the worst thing but probably not worth watching
Not a short film. Wouldn't bother. But if you want something very simple then this would fit.
Basically a slightly more silly / comedic Indiana Jones.
Cruella (2021)
A bit different, I liked it
A bit different
Lots of references to 101 Dalmatians but not a kids film
Very good sound track and very stylish.
Crazy Rich Asians (2018)
Enjoyed it
Silly and funny. A rom com but not a traditional rom com. Would recommend.
The Dead Don't Die (2019)
Interesting and different but not brilliant
A skit on zombie films but more like a 1950s understated absurd skit.
Not a bad film but I would only recommend to a certain type of viewer.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Part parody, Part over the top, zombie heist
Just a little bit too rubbish to be for me to enjoy.
Gave up about half way through.
A bit too simplistic in its writing for me.
The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
Enjoyed watching
Good mix of nice visuals, good story, humour (especially slapstick)
Would recommend as a family film.
Les frères Sisters (2018)
A cowboy saga
Bit of an epic wild west gunslinger prospector saga. Well made and well acted. A bit different from the usual. I didn't enjoy all that much though. Would recommend if someone into that type of film.
Da 5 Bloods (2020)
Interesting cinema
Interesting mix of cinema styles. Deals with complex issues in an over the top way. Worth watching.
1917 (2019)
A brilliant film, horrible to watch
Cinematically brilliant
Brilliant acting
Visually striking
Awe-inspiringly real
Apostle (2018)
Not terrible but not great
A bit too long. A bit too gruesome (and unnecessarily so - felt a bit like being gruesome for the sake of it).
Plot didn't seem especially original - recognised a lot from other movies.
Well acted and well filmed though.
BlacKkKlansman (2018)
Very good - should watch
Very well made and acted. Can be tense/ stressful to watch, but appropriately so. Important story and topic. Also very topical. Interesting, funny and engrossing.
Atomic Blonde (2017)
stylised action and espionage
Nice ideas, doesn't quite come together as a package in a film format, not quite worth watching
Restrepo (2010)
Worth watching, very honest intense footage showing a soldier's view
Worth watching, very honest intense footage showing a soldier's view
Shown with a non-judgemental eye on the realities.
