The Ranger (2018)
Eh
Just a slasher film. And a humdrum one at that. Nothing special about it.
The House of the Devil (2009)
Slow
This movie moved at the pace of molasses on a cold February morning in Vermont. When it did finally pick up the pace, I had lost a fair amount of interest. The final scene was so-so. Some reviewers have asked why the suicide attempt. Best guess is to avoid being the chosen one. As if you couldn't see that coming. Started out at 0 out of 10. Gave back 3 points for finally moving forward, if only to give a predictable ending.
C.H.U.D. (1984)
B movie 3
I watched this twice in my lifetime. The first time, I was scared (probably because I was 8). Having recently watched it again, I have to say this is painful in some regards. It is a bit fun, though. It's fair to say that some of the actors drift through the movie as if they're bored and are only there to pad their resumes while waiting for some high brow project to call their names. But the creatures are fun. Not enough gore for a B horror movie. But my second viewing did make me laugh. So there's a chance it will make you laugh. A small chance.
The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
I'm awake. Really. I am.
I fell asleep 3 times and had to force myself to stay awake to watch the entire thing. In my humble, unimportant opinion, this "film" was just a study in the evils of religion, whether it's puritanism or present day evangelism. Long story short: religious fanaticism and some old hag in the woods destroy a family. Yay. Other reviewers have said it has psychological terror. I didn't see it. I did experience boredom. Also, an evil goat!! Maybe I've seen too many of these so-called horror movies. Maybe I'm too picky. However, if you call something a horror movie, it needs to scare people. I don't care what manner it employs, but it needs to be scary. This was NOT psychologically terrifying. Had I stayed awake, I might have laughed instead.
Terrifier (2016)
Boring
No rhyme, no reason. No plot. Blood and gore for the sake of blood and gore.
