Season 3 is tiresome
17 May 2024
I've rated this series overall a 7 because of so many positive attributes. It's clear that many have put in lots of hard work to put this series into production.

I can even look past that every dress has an empire waist because that is the most flattering and how every female character in this show is more than likely trying to secure a husband. It would just be nice to see a tad bit of variety in this space. Otherwise, so much of the plot is ridiculous.

I absolutely loved season 1, but I found season 2 a little more of a struggle. The actors did their job, and the numerous others, but it just didn't have the tit package for me. Despite that, I've stuck with it and yet somehow it just doesn't quite fit. I can't put my finger on it exactly because everyone involved does a super job. Season 3 continues along those lines, but ultimately I find there are so many reasons to continue watching this series and I especially love period dramas.

I am glad this show exists, albeit some flaws.

I am so tired of Samantha
12 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This season just keeps looking for a reason to involve Samantha. I do not care about her club, but I do feel badly about the bloodshed that just occurred. I did not see that coming with the architect. I only wish that we had less of needy and whiny Samantha. She talks a big game, but somehow is always the victim and even more so now.

This episode is especially dark. It seemingly is only going to get more violent and way more dark. There is an increased usage of Sato's younger brother despite Sato's attempts to keep him safe and out of this life.

I remain loyal and extremely dedicated to this incredible show. Tozawa is an extremely scary bad guy. His tattoos remind me of the Red Dragon. Tozawa is watching Jake and I feel tense whenever he is on screen. Looking forward to what happens next.

I hoped for much more
22 February 2024
It's drawn out. It's slow. I give this show a 5, and 6 at best. I watch a ton of these kind of shows and this one did not engage me as much as I had hoped.

The acting is superb. Both the female and male leads are outstanding.

The emotional draw attempts to be there and I wanted to be drawn in, but something was in the way.

I almost dislike this show so much that I don't want to even watch it; but I go ahead and give it a try.

Only to be disappointed again. For a detective show in the UK, this one really misses the mark.

Sadly I do not recommend. Subscribe to Britbox and watch Grace, The Fall, or any other number of.

Easily the best episode so far
17 February 2024
Easily the best episode so far. I am so glad that I stuck with this show because I had heard such positive things about it months ago. I waited a long time for it to come available in the US.

But then it just started so slow for me and I found it hard to follow at times. I wanted more, but recognize now why it needed to build. Perhaps the makers wanted us as viewers to feel, in a very small way, some of the anguish and some of the frustration these women have had to deal with for decades. It's not a comparison, I am only saying the slow burn of a show like this... it affects you. And it has slowly progressed and gotten better and better. Kudos to everyone. The acting is incredible.

I agree with another reviewer here at the scene with Amy was intense and powerful... coming on the heels of the discovery that Coleman and Lorna just made. Some answers finally to this story and puzzle pieces coming along.

Super happy this show is finally back
10 February 2024
Decent start, but I was just hoping for a little more. Picks up right where we left off which is great from a continuity standpoint... especially for those streaming multiple episodes at once.

Just a couple of things that annoyed me: 1) Samantha - her character is still here, still building her ego-club, using the men in her life and playing them for whatever she wants, and just overall being whiny (nothing against the actress playing the part). I just wish this woman would go away as she is just a distraction from the show. She was fine in the beginning of season 1, but every time the story flips back to her I tend to want to grab the remote. Seems like her storyline isn't going away, so one can only hope she gets better or less air time.

2) is it just me, or in the first scene with Jake and Katagiri there is this weird overdub for one of Jake's Japanese lines. I didn't notice it any other time and it confused me unless they didn't have time to reshoot the scene and needed to change something. He's talking in English then switches at that moment and the rest of their conversation is in Japenese. Odd.

Otherwise, the scenery and music remain outstanding and I am so glad this show is finally back.

Masters of the Air: Part Three (2024)
Season 1, Episode 3

So far my least favorite
4 February 2024
I truly enjoyed part one and two for all the ups and downs. I was instantly captivated by this show. The character development especially, but at part three was disappointing. For action fans, they will love it, but that isn't why I am watching this very compelling show. I am here for the history and to better understand in some small way what our boys (Americans) went through and it's frustrating to read reviews that focus solely on action scenes as if that's the most important factor. This particular episode was not one of my favorites and not because of the lives lost, but because of the focus on action alone. I realize this might not be how others feel, but it's my opinion.

One reviewer actually said, "finally, this episode was good" which I respectfully disagree with because I feel there is a need to balance drama and emotion with action. Once action takes over, if you don't have the character development, then you won't have the desired impact. I am the reverse of that user indicating episode 3 the best when I feel it was the weakest so far:

5.6 is not an accurate or fair rating
15 January 2024
Is this an Amazon - who we know owns IMDB now - attack on Netflix?

Ask yourself if anyone that's rated this movie a 1 or 2 is someone you now and respect or even rated a different non Amazon movie here.

I'm for good quality content.... No matter the creator and it's disappointing if this theory might be even a little bit true.

As a long time IMDB user, I've trusted this service and written many reviews and given even more ratings over the years. I am not a teenager, but a 40 something adult with decades of movie going experiences and was alive when the original Star Wars movie came out.

This is worth the watch in my humble opinion.

Finale Season 2 is the strongest episode
20 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with other reviewers that this season 2 episode is the strongest one. To me it's a culmination of exhausting dialogue about the Met versus the Academy. Finally, that's put to rest and it was visually beautiful.

Finally, Marion has someone actually interesting and talented... she's had little luck in the love department. First, her husband dies, the next suitor a jerk, then a nice boring fella, and finally!

Miss Scott is quite remarkable and I love her storyline. Keep giving her more time!

The shift from Agnes to Ada is also brilliant and while I was ready to give up on this show... I might instead stick around for another season. The first season I gave this show a solid 6, then continued on that track in season 2... but this finale gives me hope for this show. The set designs, the costumes, it's visually stunning... no question. Just looking for more compelling stories in the future.

Music is terrible
6 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There are positive aspects to this show, but overall it just feels subpar to other period shows.

Conchita and Dick and their story is in every way believable and feels so real.

The Guy, Nan, Theo storyline has taken time to develop and evolve. I can't help but feel confused about how I feel and how I think their story should end.

The Lord whatever his name is an absolute monster and Jinny continues to be cringeworthy.

Good for their mother standing up to the Colonel.

The opening music and even music throughout the show is absolutely horrid. I cannot stand to hear that band play another note. Yuck.

Now the positives... the costumes.., the sets...

Otherwise this feels like a high school show.

Stands tall amongst movies in 2023
14 October 2023
I am confused why people call this movie bad or unenjoyable. I respectfully and wholeheartedly disagree. This movie was a fitting conclusion to a very good series and kudos to Antoine, Denzel and Dakota. I have to say that it's thankfully not taking the route of Fast n Furious 19 or John Wick 7 (haha)... because well, nothing good comes from beating a dead horse. So they say.

It's been a tough year for movies and people have not held back in their opinions. For me, us, this movie worked in all the ways that mattered. Compared to some of the major disappointments in 2023, it stands on its own. Everyone involved in this film should feel proud.

Luckily the strike has been resolved because I very much rely on entertainment to provide a wide variety of thrills that my regular life fails to provide. I sure hope movie makers focus on movies like this one and not on super heroes and other meaningless stories. Quality of content is important.

The Lesson (III) (2023)

I need more from a review
28 September 2023
Up front in this review let me say this... I don't wan't a play by play (or blow by blow) of how the series or movie progresses. That is not a review, yet it is often what I find here from "critics'.

Anyone that watches will ascertain those details on their own. Please actually give the viewer some insight versus stepping them through what transpires one scene at a time.

I have often wondered about the dissertation of a certain piece. There's plenty written about Shakespeare and Jane Austen, and so many talented writers. I have wondered how we ultimately judge anyone who offers a creative, and unique perspective for what will or has happened. We can't really judge an individual point of view, can we?

Exile and Chris Briny
22 September 2023
The combination of Christopher Briny and Taylor's "Exile' has me falling to my knees. It's perfectly acted and beautifully tragic at the same time. I watch this scene again and again and Conrad is the one that sticks with me the most. I've started many reviews, but I've been overcome with emotions that I've had a hard time seeing clearly enough to get my thoughts out. The music and the hurt Conrad shows as he slowly slides down the wall outside of view. It's the strongest moment of the the entire series. I know there are plenty of people that do not want Belly with Conrad, but to me, he is the one. I get that it's frustrating and how he's messed things up, and I even get how great Jeremiah is to her... but if you for back and watch the love scene episode, I think it tells you everything you need to know. And why Jeremiah rightfully so is worried right now. He's sweet and fun, but what she feels for Conrad will never go away and voce versa.

What a shame this wasn't renewed
31 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The plot, the acting, the fight scenes... are all classic borne and top notch!!

It's terrific and highly entertaining. This is exactly my type of show and there's got to be someone out there that will revive this show as we've seen with other seemingly dead shows.

This is worthy. I promise. I don't understand those that disagree, but recognize that's par for the course.

This is up there with my beloved 24, Krasinki's Jack Ryan and other spy type dramas.

Please please Amazon consider bringing it back to life. My favorite characters are the Korean woman who is stunning and wonderful, Doug and of course Jeremy Irvine playing Bentley in the past.

Just watched for the first time
11 August 2023
After all the cases and attorney's that Mike and Harvey have beat, they are gonna let this rando woman take Mike down. I am still giving this episode very high marks as every actor has done an incredible job building their character and getting us to this point. Part of me knows this was inevitable for Mike, but the basis feels pretty weak at this point. Especially, when you consider all the jams they and Louis/Jessica have avoided so far. Maybe I'd have felt differently back in 2015 watching it in real time, but thanks to Netflix and their incessant advertising of this show I wouldn't be here in the first place. And that would be regrettable because this show is worthy and while every episode isn't a home run, the people are real and believable. I want to know them and I feel their pain when they hurt. That's why I'm here and why I watch anything at all.

The length ruined it for me
16 July 2023
It started off terrific!!

I was engaged and loving the storyline which was compelling. Even the car chase was highly entertaining in the tiny yellow Fiat.

I usually go to the movies for the story and not for the big action scenes and here it worked for me, until it didn't.

At 2 hours and 43 minutes, i enjoyed the first 2 hours and would have rated this a 9.

The last 45 minutes move this to a 6 for me. The train action sequence was the demise and that's not to say it didn't have creativity and marvel at what was created, but it just keep going and going and going. I needlessly so, but I am not a teen or 20-something that probably ONLY cares about the action sequences.

So for me, this trend of 3 hour movies will keep me from going to more movies at the theatre. It really is impossible to sit that long no matter how captivating the movie. I know a lot of hard, hard work went into this and I do applaud everyone's efforts. This all may be a moot point with the writer's strike. I do love going to the movies.

Final thoughts, Haley Atwell is probably one of the most stunning female leads and a great addition to the series. Hopefully she has better luck than the other females in this franchise.

I am bit perplexed on this final season
9 July 2023
So, I've got multiple thoughts on this episode and season so far 1) my husband watched all 3 seasons with me, but didn't make it through an episode and a half of this one. That said, we both have highly enjoyed this show! Tom Clancy and these types of shows always draw my attention.

2) But did they have a change in writers because I don't think they were affected by the writer's strike. I need to research this.

3) Michael Peña is tremendous and a great addition to the show.

4) It's interesting that this final season only has 6 episodes versus the usual 8. And that they chose to release 2 a week for 3 weeks. I can't help but mention that rival Netflix generally releases the whole season at once which I love so that I can binge watch; but I get that's not for everyone. And are these actors committed to other projects or crew, writers, etc, because this season hasn't been the best. It's had some moments and I've mentioned my love of John Krasinski before so I'm not going anywhere.

5) after watching this 4th episode, I can't help but agree that this storyline isn't that compelling. I usually don't care much about whether there's actions scenes or not, but those work well to me in this latest episode.

6) anyway, just 2 left and it's over. Seems like they were in a hurry to wrap it up and we got a little shortchanged. Here's to hoping I see John again real soon!

Disappointed they brought Abbie Cornish back
30 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I love John Krasinski and might be his biggest fan. I love this show and I've been Uber excited for the new season and sad it's the last. But the casting of Abbie Cornish has never sat well with me. She is prettier in pictures than on the screen and while I am sure she's a lovely person, I just don't see her with John/Jack. In the books I get they are supposed to have chemistry, but I am not feeling that in this show. At this point it should already have been established. I hope the remainder of this show and this season steer away from this story line and focus on the real threat at hand. All that said, I am excited to see more Jack!

Anyone who doesn't rate this 10 out of 10...
2 May 2023
"I don't know bleep about bleep". For those of you that recognize the reference, yea, "Ozark" is also a 10 and top 5 show of all time for me. What else do I put in my top 5? Well, the top spot easily goes to Cillian Murphy and "Peaky Blinders", but "Ozark", "Game of Thrones", "The Newsroom", "House of Cards" and "Yellowstone" are all up there! I'm also a huge fan of "24", "Homeland" "Dexter", "Jack Ryan" and now "the Recruit".

It seems to me that the incredible stellar writing just stands out head and shoulders above countless other shows not with mentioning. Of course the actors and everyone that brings this show to life deserves mad credit, but really, this show never disappoints. It has every awkwardness, adoration, greatness and desires failure in each character which somehow gives us each something similar or different to cheer about. We love them, hate them, and yearn for more. Kudos to everyone involved... truly congrats. I'll miss you when you're gone.

Full Swing: Money or Legacy (2023)
Season 1, Episode 3

Lowest rated episode
18 February 2023
Go ahead and skip this episode. I found this episode the least compelling of the entire series. To me, LIV is all about greed and the players that have chosen to go that route were luckily those that I did not really want to watch play anyway. They also were not really winning as of late that I can recall (I could easily be mistaken on this). Not only is LIV backed by Saudi money and proven massive human rights violations, but the majority of tournaments are played at a Trump course which is yet another fact that I cannot ignore. Plus way fewer events so these guys can work less and earn more. However, I do think that the PGA tour has made some positive changes in response and the players I want to see have remained which affirms my decision. Thank goodness!

Playing golf and traveling to events is what we love to do. It's such a great time and I am excited of what the future brings too. The second episode remains on top so far that covers Koepka in a way we as we public have never seen.

I wish IMDB had not changed their review count to a minimum of 600 words which has often forced me to not submit a review.

My least favorite episode by far
17 January 2023
The wife lied and that was difficult and then she got worse. The most annoying character of all is. VIOLETTW. Please do not keep her in the show. First. It's scene after scene with Violeta. I am fine with her abilities, but her character is unwatchable. No thank you! Fast forward all scenes that she appears in. I have loved this series from the get go, except for her and he painful forced conflict. It's as if her sole purpose in this series is to disrupt our hero's success despite the early on collaboration. She had way too much screen time. I found myself fast forwarding anytime she was on screen.

Less Violeta and maybe I'll watch more - buy unsure if this will be renewed. It is way better than the Chris. Pratt Amazon Terminal List that's for sure.

Overall I enjoyed it. Please less Violeta.

Hard to watch
21 October 2022
This movie is difficult to watch. Yes it's about trauma, but it's at every turn and everything she worked so hard to build doesn't feel good at all. Despite Mila's best efforts, her character is really unbearable to watch. The constant cruelty to her mother truly sent me over the edge. I guess Mila is just one of those that actually nails being utterly and entirely mean.

Then on top of that, the filmmakers are constantly giving us viewers even more trauma with the other characters as well.

Don't get me wrong, I was excited to see this movie because I did truly enjoy the book and found her asides quite hilarious. Sadly they feel completely off in this movie as voice overs.

Her boss might be my favorite character in this movie. And in the final 20 or so minutes, I wasn't hating it as much as I did the previous hour plus. Still I don't think I'll be recommending this one.

No one wins. Not really. It's entirely tragic all the way around.

First 5 episodes were great, but...
27 September 2022
This episode was a complete snooze-fest. Skip. Fast forward. Next.

Replacing the two main characters was unexpected and extremely disappointing. So strange this early on in a new series. I guess the advancement in time was more important, but time will tell.

The kids are annoying. Another baby being boring. Meh. More husbands and wives bickering. Meh. This episode was a waste of time in my opinion. Here's to hoping the next one has more to offer. For such a promising start of the first five episodes, I am surprised this is the latest effort from what seemed to be a talented group of writers, producers, actors and directors.

Max!
17 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I am writing this review a second time after losing my first iteration because of how passionate I feel about this show, but in particular this episode.

After missing any piece of Nick and June in season 3, this particular episode reunites them albeit briefly and it's incredibly touching. He loves her and she loves him. Before we have recovered from that, the Handmaid's are tragically hit by the oncoming train. I did not see any of it coming and no matter how many times I watch this episode, it gets me every time.

Please give me more Nick and June. Something deep inside me will never let them go - despite all obstacles and challenges. I keep the faith that love will prevail and they will be a family some day!

Completely disagree with judges
11 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Typically I can see the perspective from the judges, but this episode was the furthest point I've ever felt. What they loved was ridiculous... as if they had their mind made up before this episode even aired. I am not saying that the designer doesn't have talent, only that I could not relate to the perspective from the judges. For me, it was hands down Rafael. Then Georgia and Yannik in third. I guess we will see what sells. Numbers don't lie and all opinions, mine or theirs aside, will be the actual winner. I was especially surprised by the last from Amazon that appeared to join in on the Yannik parade.

Heidi loves Yanik
11 September 2022
I am not saying he's not talented, but I won't be buying or wearing any of his stuff

Rafael= yes Jeanette = yes Georgia = yes.

This concept store episode was fun, but I was not in agreement with their winner at all.

I wish the review did not require 600 characters.

Boo. Completely disagree with the winner. It's really up to Heidi and her word dictates the outcome. That said, she is amazing. However, her critique of Georgia I felt was completely off. Jeanette and Georgia are better than Yannik. So, it doesn't matter what the rest of us think if Heidi is sold on Yannik all season long.

I do love this show, but she is not connecting with the average, regular gal. I am extremely disappointed with Heidi at this time.
