It started so good, then it didn't stop getting worse. The 4 is for solid production. The dialog is decent. The story is terrible and I'm still waiting for the science fiction part.

Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks (2022 TV Special)

Bill Burr never disappoints...
25 July 2022
Burr is one of the greatest comedians EVER!

His recall, association, interpretation, and presentation is as good as it gets.

The most impressive angle is his comprehension of current events compared to history.

Burr was unique 30 years ago. He continues to be.

Bill Burr ROCKS. It seems like I should have a hash mark there. The last hash mark I made was in my underwear, that I noticed when doing my laundry last week.

I'm not a fan of historical fiction
19 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Although, James Michener, the father of historical fiction, is one of my favorite writers. His characters did interfere with the story. That said, the Hollywood precinct has dealt with some of the most unbelievable cases in modern history. The selection of this time period was excellent.

However, we have a hard enough time trying to tell a factual history, we don't need anyone to stir it with a poop stick.

This show is beautifully written and well produced. The characters are compelling and acting is nice. Duchovny is excellent.

Season 1 I'm straight up rating an easy 8 and at times 10. There are great plot points and dialog is honest and insightful.. AND, there are reasonable facts to support the show, kinda... Season 2. Pissed me off from the beginning. There is no evidence that Manson was present at either the Tate or Labianca murders. I understand why it was approached this way, yet, plausible deniability is same as pleading the 5th.

Grrrrrr This whole historical fiction issue is solved by renaming everyone. Like instead of Charles Manson, name him Joseph Manchin. Oh wait...that doesn't sound right.

Apatow is a God. Gillian is a completely underrated actor.

I rate movies a 10, not because they are flawless movies, but they are a must see.

This movie rivals every Altman production.

I'm pretty sure Altman is proud.

Metascore 36 is ridiculous.

I feel like a democrat in a republican world.

This movie is brilliant from beginning to end.

The casting is fantastic.

Every filmmaker dreams is making a movie like this. Apatow has done it again, again, again....

She was born to do standup.

"Can you not tell this Chipotle that I'm bleeding and can't subtract!?" Great show. Comedy is at its best when it is honest with the audience.

Taylor is a gift. Please don't trip on a carpet.

I don't even care what happens
1 January 2022
I've never seen a better pilot.

Actually, I do care what happens next. I've watched all of it.

Spoiler alert I have an embarrassing infatuation with Alison Brie.

This is a fantastic show and it's reasonably factual.

I'm watching it for the 3rd time...and I hate everything.

And no this doesn't have anything to do with Alison Brie... Well...maybe it does Nonono I love these characters and the actors This is a great frackin show.

Disingenuous, yet enlightening
1 January 2022
I truly loved the process all of these agents endured to solve crimes.

However, this show seems indignantly unfathomable.

The mafia turned into NGOs Giuliani is using the same script to promote himself.

The mafia is the same capitalism we live with today.

I can't imagine a show that illuminates the paradox of capitalism clearer than this.

This is the current state of business.

In his own words?
31 December 2021
Yes, Ted does say things. But others say way more words than he does. The title should have been "Unabomber, Ted talks (no pun intended) for 20 seconds, then others can talk 5-10 minutes."

This is good production and most importantly; well edited. Yet this show is prosecutorial. Even when they try to defend Ted, it's highly flawed. The coolest thing they did was also the most disingenuous. Translating his numbers to words frickin awesome, yet they only translated the words useful to their narrative. Yes, these were his words, but too few of them.

The best 8 episode series ever!
30 December 2021
Yet for some reason it's 16 episodes.

I wanted to love it. I watched it once. Was angry I watched the entire thing. Originally gave it a 3 Thought I missed something. I wanted to love it. I watched it again. I did miss something. For the excellent concept, the money and quality resources spent, this is arguably the worst series ever.

I'd like to give it a zero.

Reviewing the entire thing, and I could go on for days, I'm rating this show a -9.

I wanted to love this show It's a waste of recycled material.

Turned into the the worst show I've EVER seen.

After episode 10, NOTHING is good. Plot terrible, dialog terrible, characters might as well be wearing a black or white hat.

Booo Booooo Watch it at 2x. Save yourself 6 hours.

Redact that. Watch this 4x.

You really most miss anything.

This show has terrible issues...
29 December 2021
I spent 3 hours writing a very specific review.

Then I was called away for 30 minutes to do some business. When I returned my review was lost.

IMDb support could not help.

So this review is not about the show I watched 15 hours I watched this show, but about the 3 hours I lost reviewing it.

I'm not reviewing this show again, but let me condensed; Great idea=could have been 10 episodes.

IMDb you wasted my time with bad programming.

Better than us = 4 IMDb = 0.

Feels real.
16 December 2021
I personally have a lot of complaints about s1 & s2 from plot to character. But it is well produced, well acted, solid dialog, great casting. Ive been a fan of Britton for many years, and I can't tell you how angry I was that someone could take advantage of her like that. Well done. There a many terrific scenes in this series.

However, I'm giving this series a 6 because it makes me hate myself as a man and demonstrations just how ignorant and dismissive we are of our humanity.

Then again, that's probably the point.

In never wish to see this series again. It's terrifically disturbing.

So I'm supposed to give a positive rating to this show
6 October 2021
This is everything that is wrong with is as a scociety and as individuals. It is frickin spot on.

I got nothing but respect for women and children who live through this.

For everyone who does not believe that every single person on this planet doesn't deserve a fair shot for the themselves and their children can go fornicate themselves.

For all of us who care, please keep asking, please keep demanding, please keep screaming At the top of your lungs until everyone hears.

We spend 174 thousand dollars for a federal representative. Doesn't it seem like we could spend that money on people that matter instead of those who we elect that don't care a hoot about anyone else?

A breath of fresh air.

There are several things that are not addressed in this conceptual documentary, but it is a scientific solid plan to move forward.

Well written and well produced. Outside of David Attenborough, Woody Harrelson is an excellent choice as a host. Although, he kinda phoned it in.

A must see.

I've done several years in prison for selling meth. Ya make more money by slinging grams than pounds. This entire plot point is wrong. It would have been more realistic to sell a pound and the cook to claim it's not enough.

Brie and Jacobs
3 August 2021
Are 2 of the most amazing people I have ever seen on screen.

Gillian has an amazing ability to absorb a character into her own personality.

Alison can push and pull and mold herself into whomever. Her work on Bojack Horseman is unreal.

No matter what show you watch, these 2 actors are on point.

Gillian and Alison are 2 of the best actors to appear onscreen EVER!

We are blessed to watch them.

Absurd Planet (2020)

A rebellious documentary...
13 June 2021
But the current rating if 3.4 is undeserved. I'm completely on the other side.

Granted, this is not the usual way to present a documentary. Most expect some comfortable trusted voice to narrate the facts with sparse academic humor. Afi is a capable narrator as Mother Nature, but the combination of lofty/ humorous dialog with questionable direction and the lack of warm post will compel the average documentary watcher to turn off the tv and go to sleep, only to be haunted by what they have just experienced.

However, a lot of creative work went into this production. If one gives it a chance, the narration is humorous and on point.

If you don't understand this show, find a way to alter your perception and try again.

It's named Absurd Planet. That name not only describes obscure life on the planet but extends to how the material is presented.

Embrace the absurdity.

I don't care what happens after s3.e4. From s2.e8 to s3.e4 is some of the worst television i have ever seen.

I'm 60 years old.

The first season is good. Subject matter an plot points are compelling and on point.

Then it slowly fades from mediocrity to bad.

This show was a great idea that went way wrong. It could have potentially illuminated the things that are troublesome about internet corporations and society.

Boooo booo this show is a waste of time.

Nuff said. Don't waste your time after season 1. If you do, turn the playback time up to 1.5. Great performances. However, this is another example of everything that is wrong with streaming programs. The first season is smart. The next 3 seasons could be edited into 2. Meaning 10 hours of your life not wasted.

For All Mankind (2019– )
1/10
This show is full of good writing, great performances and amazing production.
4 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The writing is compelling. The character dialog is very good, and at times excellent, given the premise. However, often, the premise dissolves under scrutiny.

Spoiler alert: There are so many examples of this, but I'm going to reference a scene that I just watched - NASAs chief engineer is informed that the Russians have the exact design of an American space shuttle compliments of covert spying. But those designs were 2 years old. Historically, this is reasonably accurate. The Russians absolutely possessed American designs for virtually all-American intellectual property, then and now. This premise is based on the Challenger disaster. An event that didn't seem to have any more significance in this series other than to provoke a humanitarian bonding moment between a Russian and an American to prevent further disaster. However, that conversation, at that point, was useless. The reason for the explosion of Challenger was determined and released by the press within weeks of the event. It was clear that cold conditions were responsible for the tragedy. Everyone on the planet with a connection to any wave-link reception was aware of the O ring problem. The reason for the explosion was public knowledge. The admission of an engineering problem from an American to a Russian was useless, simply drama. And if a NASA chief engineer was sincere about informing a Russian about that problem, they would have indicated some kind of solution. This scene is ultimately empty.

Time and time again, a series of 8 to12 episodes is produced to tell a story. This is an incredible freedom that gives a writer an unlimited opportunity to give a reasonably factual (and dramatic) account of a history that is rarely exposed. In this respect=this account does not. Real life is far more fantastical than an imagination based upon imagination. The story of NASA is a turning point in humanity. A turning point that has been lost by fanciful drama interpreted by historical fiction.

Thousands of hours and millions of dollars of this project was approved by those who have no respect or history. I'd be more accepting of the premise had they not used actual historical figures and actual events to tell this story.

I despise historical fiction. It's hard enough to get honest history, we don't need finely produced media to confuse the past for all mankind...to get honest history, we don't need finely produced media to confuse the past for all mankind...

For All Mankind (2019– )

Well done, but so very wrong.
24 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The production, the direction, the acting, the props, the details and the dialog are compelling. That's what the 2 stars are for. I'm not a fan of historical fiction. History is rife with lies that obfuscate our true history. There are several good movies that portray this place in time, but for some reason this show wants to Trump it up. But to be fair, if Trump had his say, the women's roles would be entirely different, if not completely ignored and definitely no black people. Personally, my favorite plot line was the Latino story. However, this whole concept is lazy, destructive and does a disservice to our understanding of our past. It's like the producers said "who cares about history!" Yes, I know this isn't a documentary, but it is made in a fashion that a reasonable person would think this is what happened given the artistic and dramatic license of a Hollywood production. If you're a film student, there are many lessons to learn regarding production. But there is little to no truth or honesty about this show. I'm a history wonk and this is an incredible time in world history. This show distorts almost every fact about this time period. Going so far as to fold in historical footage to support this illegitimate story. I'm pretty solid on this point in time and I kept having to research events this show portrayed thinking my knowledge was wrong. At no time was my knowledge wrong. This production had so many opportunities and resources to tell stories that have rarely or never been told and someone decided...let's just lie. This does not connect us with history in anyway shape or form, even though the premise is based around historical events. Boooo! and shame on this series. Btw, I did watch the entire first season. I do not recommend it. If you do partake realize that although the characters are historical, this story is almost a completely fictional.
