Avatar: The Last Airbender: Aang (2024)
Off to a good start!
The hype for this one has been huge and yes, when the creators left due to "creative differences" I was scared buut this first episode has left me hopeful.
For starters, lets all agree that it cannot be better than the original and the last adaptation was a massive dissapointment with Ong the Avatar.
This first episode is a gem, the cloathing details, infrustructure of the buildings take you to a new place. During the Original, we know that the fire nation wipes out the airbenders but we are not shown any of this, Now for the first 20minutes, netflix show in detail how the attack came to be and how good the air nation was at fighting (something we dont see until the book of Kora). The Air nomads had different and cool figjting styles but the commet made all the difference at the end.
The little ironic bits with sokka and the characters in general feel and look great.
Looking forward to the next episode!
Titanfall 2 (2016)
short but great
Titanfall 2 is def an experience that all gamers should try. The story is simple and feels almost like a well written COD game but the game play is super fun with a mix of a shooter and a portal type of feel with the challenges the game presents.
The game is short with no customization or a need to grind either but short does not mean bad, its action packed from the get go and the two protagonist are fun to listen to. This game is a gem and I am looking forward to a part 3 because I cant get enough.
The fights are fun, the enviroment is challenging and the boss fights are just perfect in terms of difficulty.
Locke & Key (2020)
Magical first season
The first season offered something different, a new magical story for the season to come. S1 = 7/10 (has potential, different concept and entertainment more the whole family)
The second season was not as good as the first but still managed to keep you engaged, the keys and their different forms and powers makes you want to know more about them. S2 = 7/10 (watchable)
The third season though, third season dug the grave for this show. Some scenes rushed, others dragged too long, while others just mad me angry.
Predictable, stupid choices, unrealistic acting with a overly dragged ending.
S3 = 5/10 (why? Just why?)
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Adrift (2022)
Prime's "What If" series continues
Episode 2 is an episode composed of things that did not happen in the original story.
"What if Galadriel was invited back to the undying lands and in the last minute decides to jump off the boat and swim back"
"What if we put Gandalf out there in the second age, but he doesn't know why he is there"
"What if we had hardfoots in the second age, and they are the ones that find Gandalf and are the first to develop a sort of friendship with them?"
Aside from the many "What Ifs"
The dwarves didn't fully feel Tolkien (some were missing facial hair) The music is something you may hear in any other adventure or movie, doesn't have the Howard Shore feel to it. To say episode 2 is an improvement is an overstatement.
The Good: Visually I can see the Billion dollars that went into it. The Orc look Good, the Landmarks look good. Will continue to watch but this is not Tolkien and it doesn't feel like it.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: A Shadow of the Past (2022)
Prime Videos "What If" series
The first episode looks good, visually there were things that looked good. The decorations of the Trees with the carving for example. Lindon looked well as far as we could see. The Silvan Armor looks interesting. Felt like I was watching something new, other times felt like I was watching the Witcher.
If we take the Tolkien out of this episode, the episode could have been better; Because on its own its an ok watch. There isn't a lot going on and the story is starting..
They said this was Tolkien, but why doesn't it feel like it? Its Tolkien minus the lore, minus the original characters, minus the history. In other words it's a "What if Series" based on Tolkien.
This is not it.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: A Normal Amount of Rage (2022)
Honest review - downfall of the MCU?
It wasn't great, and it wasn't good.
Disney instead of doing good to the MCU, its hurting it. Past Marvel movies have been ok, past Marvel shows have been either bad or OK
Recently Marvel has been trying to move in a direction and not the same direction as the fans hope, given that all of this is based on already established characters.
I do not feel hopefull about the MCU going forward.
Moonfall (2022)
Armagedon but less successful and more drugs
Same plot. Space trouble, gather a team of experts to go on a suicide mission to save humanity.
Im the end of Armagedon someone needs to stay behind to blow it up and just as the young dude is about to sacrifice themselves Bruce Willis steps in.
Same plot, way way way less entertaining and then there's the drugs.
Shin Evangelion Gekijôban (2021)
Still don't get it , but loved the animation
Half way through the movie I was having a hard time following amd understanding, it was at that moment I got upset with myself.
I shame on me. I should know better than to try to make sense of Evangelion. After the realization I was able to finish it. Don't really understand what happened back there but it ended and it was a "happy" one at that
Its the best ending to an Evangelion movie, or not sorry dont get it.
Viy (2014)
Great shots and scenes ruined by story hard to follow
This is a strange one.
Many of the scenes, angles and effects are great I must say and add to the mystical atmosphere the movie is setting up.
Where does this go wrong?
For me the voice over or translation takes a big hit from whichever seriousness anything is said.
There is a mix of mythical creatures with realism but for someone that goes into this without context, makes understandind the context very difficult to the point of asking yourself mid movie "what am I watching?"
Vikings: Valhalla (2022)
A good start
Obviously it would not have the same success as Vikings did. The same level of engagement and character development that attaches you to them after every season.
Though the battle scenes stay true to what we know, the story itself is a bit, not quite there with some episode that fall on being boring even.
Vikings mixed with Game of Thrones because of the court intrigue and every political backstab going on.
The season ends leaving me wanting just one more episode and that is a reason to comeback just to see what happens.
How will these new characters live with what has happened? I feel that future seasons will be better but we will see in its due time.
The Green Knight (2021)
Bit worried with this
With the LoTR Prime show around the corner, visually it looks great, story telling is ok but the transition between scenes are often hard to follow.
The pacing is aweful at times with moments that could have been cut out entirely
Its not terrrible,
2020 and 2021 gave us many terrible movies and this is not bad, but it leaves a sensation that it could have been Better.
Best of Stand-Up 2020 (2020)
This is not it
What happens when you take some comedians you know and like and you toss in other comedians that you don't like or don't enjoy the humor?
You end up with an hour of you questioning your choices.
This is the best of 2020?
Some jokes were straight up cringe.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Must have sucked to live in the US in 2020 the Movie
Imagine facing a global pandemic where data and the evidence is there but your government calls you a liar and does everything possible to shut the truth down.
Great satire of the reality of our situation
Where we the common folk want to be with family and live another day while the corporations and nations think only on how to fill their pockets.
A funny, desperate and sarcastic take on the end of the world.
Z Nation: Limbo (2018)
Been Watching since S1
Someone please mercy this show.
Thhe last episode ended with a foreshadowing of another S1 Character, expectations were higher than normal but not too high. This episode was plain out boring. It did not even improve with the reappearance of that S1 Character I mentioned before. The past episodes have been average but this one is a decline.
Lost in Space (2018)
Lost in Space or Better yet The Robinsons vs Death
A remake of the classic Lost in Space where the worlds and scenary is quite breathtaking.
The Robinsons tell a story on how their wits, out the box thinking, heart, luck, and Plot Armor helps them preventing death in Space.
The story is fun and interesting, The Characters grow and are likable
Its been a good binge watch each year a season came out.
Adam: The Mirror (2017)
Too short
Too short to rate otherwise
In 7 minutes, its as good as it gets and that's it.
Had it been longer with more context it would be a different story. Too short is a common theme with the studio from what I can see.
Cooking with Bill (2017)
Remember that Rick and Morty episode
Where they are flipping through channels and some of the most bizarre things came on the TV?
This episode can perfectly fit in one of those. If you squint your eyes and try hard enough you nay find some comedy but lets say "horror gross" is a better genre for it
Was this rock bottom for oatsstudio?
Firebase (2017)
Lots if potential
Starts off strong with an 8 type of rating, Great setting and lots of potential.
As the story drags on you remember that its a short and it needs to lead somewhere, the premise is very interesting but the explanation slows down the pase for a movie that is about to end. 7.
The ending itself and the River God fighting for the Vietcong finished killing this for me.
Went from lots of potential to "eh what"
Godless: Shot the Head off a Snake (2017)
They say
It is always calm before the storm, but this episode of RDR2
"The Show" was a bit too calm for me.
We get some backstory and character interaction which is nice.
Eternals (2021)
Very enjoyable
The Marvel like Comedy is strong in this one, the characters came together nicely and the story was entertaining.
Cant wait for a second film and to see how the MCU will bring all the new heroes together in this new phase.
Kaubôi bibappu: Cowboy Bebop: Mushroom Samba (1999)
Feels like a filler
All Ed centered episodes feel like filler.
Character is a bit too over the top and loud
The episode in general is about the crew not having anything to eat and Ed goes on an adventure to find food. You could well skip this episode and not have missed anything.
All that aside, the drawing and the music made it an ok watch, but left me wanting more.
Locke & Key: The Head and the Heart (2021)
Ok watch
Don't get what's the fuss about the episode.
Nothing too exciting has happened yet, the season is placing its cards on the table for what is to come.
A simple, light episode
Reminds us of S1 characters and events
Lets see where this all takes us.
Kaubôi bibappu: Cowboy Bebop: My Funny Valentine (1998)
Who is Faye Valentine?
We meet this character in Episode 3 and then make up our minds on who this character is without knowing their past, who they are, what are their motives. I enjoyed how the episode gave me a back story for Faye and changed the way I viewed this character. The episode then adds a little bit of comedy and wraps it all up with a very enjoyable episode.
