Hot Shot Announcer
29 July 2023
It's probably the writers but, this "hyper" announcer, Michael Rigsby, simulating actual "calls" is inaccurate and annoying. Example: Saying they hit "up to 150 miles an hour" at Eldora. No freekin' way! However, the video editing is exceptional but misleading. It's not all that thrilling in person.

They tell me my "review" is too short and has to be longer so, I'll post it again. Thanks for reading! Cheers!

An Appropriate Title
17 July 2023
This is an hour and a half waste of time.

Another reviewer summed it up quite well. It was a long journey to nowhere.

Decent cast . . . Well acted and photographed . . . But . . . Well I think I summed it up.

A BIG WASTE OF TIME!

Since I have to write a minimum number of characters . . . I will fulfill that obligation with the following:

An Amazing Display of Dumbness!
28 March 2023
Howard Borden put on a showcase of stupidity over having to take a test for a driver's license.

First off, is it possible he has lived as long as he has without having one? Also, if he is that "blank" upstairs, how did he ever become a navigator for an airline?

He's always been kind of a buffoon and it was great comedy and produced a lot of laughs but completely undermined any credulity of his character.

For viewers with a "fear of flying" . . . This display really made their case.

I still have 108 characters to go to make this review lengthy enough for submission so I will take the time (and space) to thank you for reading my review!

Ari Gold ruined this.
19 March 2023
Apparently this Ari Gold guy is an ego-maniac. His forced subtitles about his "inner feelings" just destroyed my ability to watch and hopefully enjoy this film.

I gave it a few minutes to (hopefully) go away but it seemed that I was going to have to endure his "running commentary" for the entire movie.

Sorry, but I don't want subtitle narration for a movie.

Whoever this air drummer guy is should either really learn how to play the drums or . . . Evaporate.

I hate that this site (which I use daily) requires a minimum number of characters to post a comment on here. I still have 26 to go . . . And, I made it!

Cheers!

Where's the Chopper???
20 January 2023
Odd that this Adam-12 with a rooftop sniper follows and episode about the introduction of the use of helicopters to the LAPD.

This would be an ideal situation to fly one in.

Repeating: Odd that this Adam-12 with a rooftop sniper follows and episode about the introduction of the use of helicopters to the LAPD.

JUST IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Odd that this Adam-12 with a rooftop sniper follows and episode about the introduction of the use of helicopters to the LAPD.

This would be an ideal situation to fly one in.

ONE MORE TIME: Odd that this Adam-12 with a rooftop sniper follows and episode about the introduction of the use of helicopters to the LAPD.

EGAD . . . So, What Happened???
10 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First, I can't believe that Pete asked her out. (Earlier in the episode he did tell her that they are not allowed to "fraternize.")

But then, to leave the viewers hanging with how he solved the problem is very unfair.

This is the first time I ever "BOOed" Adam-12.

Boo!!!

I have been told that my review is too short . . . So I'll pad it.

The actress who portrayed the "poor little rich girl" did bear a resemblance to Ann-Margret.

And, since I still have to fill more characters . . . And have nothing more to say . . . I'll just repeat what I just said:

Shelly had a baby! When?
22 November 2022
Unless I missed it . . . And I reviewed the episodes prior to Shelly and Holling rolling the baby carriage down the street . . . But there does not seem to be an episode that includes the baby's birth. When did that happen? They say that my review is "too short" . . . Well, I am not going to say more than is necessary, so . . . I'll just repeat the initial offering: Unless I missed it . . . And I reviewed the episodes prior to Shelly and Holling rolling the baby carriage down the street . . . But there does not seem to be an episode that includes the baby's birth. When did that happen? Still too short . . . But not anymore.

One Huge Pile of Stinking Dweck!
5 August 2022
From start to finish . . . From the title to the closing credits . . . This was a negative depressing presentation. It dwelled on the "junk" classes that race at Riverhead . . . The dregs of racing . . . The despair of the Cromartys. Ugh.

It never mentioned or displayed the top class . . . The Modifieds . . . Which are very fast, very costly race cars driven by very accomplished wheelmen. The production made Riverhead look like a little hick track that is standing in the way of progress . . . I.e. Another damn Wal-Mart.

This is a well-produced piece of trash that does nothing but hurt the sport of racing.

I am not sorry that I watched but I damn well will not recommend it to anyone for fear of triggering a dismal look at motorsports . . . And life in general.

How We Roll (2022)

This is a "Pumpkin Ball" of a hit.
5 April 2022
OK, I've only seen the pilot but, as a former semi-pro bowler (who actually "cashed"), this thing is a dud.

I realize that the budget probably prohibited hiring an actor who really knows how to bowl (or . . . At least . . . Looks like someone who does) but this guy is so far away from how a good bowler carries himself (his approach and motion and ball handling and . . . ) that it undermines the entire premise.

Maybe some non-bowling types will find it mildly amusing but the millions of regular bowlers will run the risk of breaking their remotes to change channels.

I'm surprised that Tom Smallwood (a "second or third tier" pro at best) didn't have more input as to the authenticity of how the bowling segments of the program are presented.

I'll probably give a few more episodes a look . . . I am a bowling junkie since I first bowled in the Cub Scouts at the age of 8 . . . But this has gutter ball written all over it.

If you want to see a bowling-themed movie that is quite well done, I recommend "Dreamer" with Tim Matheson. He wasn't much of a kegler in real life but (I'm sure with proper coaching) "sold" it quite well dramatically.

Cheers!

Charlie Roberts.

Where was the comedy?
19 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This just might have been one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen.

Will is a major case of arrested development. Most of us have had serious cases of "puppy love" when we were young . . . But, many of us . . . Get over it.

I'm sorry, I did not find this character (Will) sympathetic one bit.

And, the fact that one of the attributes on IMDb is "Comedy" was very misleading. I do not think I had even a slight chuckle throughout the entire film.

I cannot recommend this picture.

IMDb must remove "comedy" from this film.
23 January 2022
This film was well done . . . Good performances . . . But one of the attributes is "Comedy" . . . Well, maybe I got a chuckle or two along the way . . . But . . . In no way is this a knee slapper.

Where was the comedy?
20 January 2022
Well done but very depressing. The IMDb profile labels it Comedy/Drama but I never got even a mild chuckle. I would never watch this again nor recommend it. But, Zoey is . . . Just about the most captivating female I have ever seen in my 74 years on this planet.

Egad . . . What a terrible movie. Production and videography was good but the rest of it is strictly third-run at the drive in. It's one of those bad movies that isn't bad enough to be good (i.e. Laugh provoking) . . . Just bad.

My Saturday Night Home
26 September 2021
Geez . . . Where do I begin? I grew up in New Jersey and talked my Dad in to taking me to the stock car races at nearby Wall Stadium.

When I went away to college at Boston University, I needed my racing fix. So, I'd heard about Norwood Arena and . . . Having no car . . . I figured how to get there on Saturday nights.

I was living in Alston at the time and plotted out my plan. I walked from my apartment to the trolley line which ran down Commonwealth Avenue into the underground. Switched trains and took the trolley out to Arboretum. From there I took a bus to Norwood Center . . . And, from there, I hoofed it a couple of miles out to Route 1 where the track was.

Wow . . . "home" at last.

Only trouble was . . . The buses and trollies did not run all night and some nights, if the show was running long, I had to leave before the feature race (at a certain time) to be able to walk back to Norwood Center to get the last bus to Arboretum to get the last trolley back to Boston so that I could get home.

Well, as most regular race fans know, we usually sat in the same spot in the stands and . . . After a while . . . Got friendly with some of the other fans who also always sat in the same area.

So, one night . . . Before the feature . . . I got up to leave (the races were running late) and a guy who I sat next to said: "Where you going?" So, I told him my story and . . . He said: "Stick around . . . I'll give you a ride up to North Station (where the trollies ran later) and you'll still be able to get home.

Great!

It turned out that he was Jim Martel the Supermodified driver who lived in New Hampshire and he was just there (that night) as a spectator.

Anyhow it all worked out and I was a happy guy!

A long trip to nowhere.
17 April 2021
I'm not even sure why I rented this but it was in my queue . . . Probably for a few years. Anyhow, it was about "Little League" Sopranos . . . Junior mobsters who like being Italian in Brooklyn and throwing their weight around.

The acting and cinematography were quite good but the story kind of wandered around . . . An intimate look at the mundane life of run-of-the mill thugs.

I don't think I'll even have a slice of tomato pie . . . At least for a day or so.

Not as "advertised"!
29 March 2021
IMDb has this as a "Comedy, Drama, Romance" . . . And it is barely only one of the three.

In the brief plot outline it says that this "novelist (encounters) comedic circumstances." . . . Which is hardly the case. I don't think I laughed once during the entire viewing. I'm not even sure why I watched it to the end.

This movie is _not_ a comedy and is hardly romantic . . . Plus I never really "felt" anything for any of the characters.

Don't waste your time . . . As I did.

OK film if you know nothing about racing.
19 March 2021
I've been involved professionally in racing for better than a half of a century. This was a pleasant way to pass the time but the flaws about short-track racing were quite annoying. It's a long list and I don't want to bore you with it all but, for no other reason, there is no shifting in short-track racing. I'll leave it at that. Oh, and BTW, the announcer in the final scenes is Ken Stout . . . an old friend and colleague of mine . . . who got no credit. Too bad.

Dammit . . . His name is NILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSON and not NEEEEELSON!!!!
2 March 2021
I have been a (Harry) Nilsson fan from very early on. When "Son of Schmilson" first came out, I had just left the record store in Eatontown (NJ) and was cruising southbound on Route 35 (listening to WNEW-FM) and they played "You're Breaking My Heart" with a perfect edit on the "F word" . . . it was "pf bleep kuh" . . . I was stunned but immediately turned my car around, went back to the record store, and bought the LP.

Anyhow, after watching this documentary, I am APPALLED at how many people . . . who supposedly knew and were close to Harry . . . mispronounced his name.

At the very opening, Dustin Hoffman announced the death of Harry Neeelson. GAWD DAMMIT, his last name was Nilsson . . . like nil (nothing) . . . rhymes with mill and until and still . . . well, you get it.

Just listen to how he pronounces his own name . . . listen to the soundtrack of the film "Skidoo" where he sings the credits ". . . and Nilsson played the tower guard" . . .

Sorry but, to me, this is an insult.

Please . . . in Harry's honor . . . GET IT RIGHT!

Thank you.

Dragstrip Riot?

What dragstrip? As far as "racing" goes, there _was_ a sports car road race (with a lot of stock footage) and a "chicken race" vs. a train but absolutely nothing that came even close to drag racing.

This was a late '50s movie when rock 'n' roll was just getting started . . . and drive-in movies were still ubiquitous and popular (probably a third feature shown after midnight) . . . and they were probably trying to cash in on restless teenagers . . . but . . . this is junk.

It's not even one of those "so bad it's funny" movies . . . it is just bad. Don't waste your time.

29 March 2018
Gawd . . . this show is awful!

There is no "dialog" . . . it's just carefully crafted lines (from every character) spliced together. There is no breathing room.

It reminds me of a cartoon with actors instead of animation.

Sorry, but my intelligence is insulted by this extremely popular (apparently) atrocity.
