Don't Look Up (2021)
A Movie of it's Time
This movie is truely something amazing, it manages to take a different angle on the whole Earth is going to be destroyed idea. To begin with I was only going to watch the movie because I am a Jennifer Lawrence fan, but I am so glad that it was not the only reason. To save too many spoilers I will just skim over the movie and you can go on your own journey with it.
The Government side, the depiction of the American Government is surprisingly accurate. However, Lawrence did mention in an interview that it was the over arching theme of the movie, of which while watching it makes it very easy to understand. While the movie, I felt my own frustration begin to build with each of the actors purely because of how well every thing is portrayed. Having so many OSCAR winning actors on one screen allows for a moving performance. I particularly found myself frustrated with Jason Orlean (Jonah Hill), to the point where I actually felt like throwing something at him through the screen. Aided by his co-star Meryl Streep, they managed to produce a chemistry on screen that I have not seen in a very long time.
It was also refreshing to watch a movie without a happy ending. For a moment I was slightly disappointed that it didn't work. But, after consideration of the chance the government was given to change the whole story, I feel the ending was the right decision. This helps raise many things that many world government have not taken action for, and what their actions could lead to.
I like to think of it as a ball sports decision, usually with any ball team sport, the first pass you see is the right pass. If you give it anymore consideration of who you could pass to, by then it is too late.
But don't take my word for it, go experience the ride for yourself.
The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018)
Family Movie
Nothing to criticise in this movie I enjoyed it. There is some adult humour in it to give them a bit of a laugh.
Gray Matter (2018)
