One for the Money (2012)
Stopped watching after 15 minutes
Simply awful. Katherine Heigl's character was completely annoying, as well as the chemistry with Jason O'Mara.
Also, I've decided never to watch any movies that include Daniel Sunjata on the cast. What a terrible actor.
The dialogue was completely inconsequential. Didn't even make me smile, and since this is a comedy, you're supposed to laugh or at least feel entertained. Didn't happen to me.
The sound mix was terrible. I rented it and I couldn't understand some of the dialogues because the music and incidentals took over the voices.
Avoid this one or wait for it until you have nothing to do on a weekend, and still, a 2 hour nap would even be better.
The Butterfly Effect 2 (2006)
So pathetic I couldn't watch it completely
Bottom line. Bad acting, bad story, bad special effects, bad audio, bad everything.
I mean, how did they dare to spoil such an incredible movie like the Butterfly Effect, with this thing? More importantly, how could the director put his name to this garbage? I just spend 20 bucks buying the DVD, cursing at myself for wasting that kind of money in this so called movie, which doesn't even deserve the title.
It was so disappointing, boring and ridiculous that I couldn't even finish watching it. I thought sleeping would be a better use of my weekend time.
And the special effects were terrible. The director couldn't even reproduce the original effect where Ashton went into his past. This time, the effect looks cheap, the sound effects are awful and all it does is ruin the great perception I had about the first movie.
Honestly, John R. Leonetti should stick to cinematography. He just doesn't quite cut it as a director, I think he knows that after seeing his terrible film.
Mr. Bress and Mr. Gruber should be very angry with the fact that he ruined their concept. Actually, they should sue him and the company that had the guts to destroy a great story, and a great film.
I hope the audience realizes this, and help The Butterfly Effect 2 become the greatest failure in movie history, for it deserves it.
Lost (2004)
Getting slow, and slow, and slower.
I am getting tired of watching lost. I was hooked the first season, until I watched the last episode, where nothing was resolved, everything was just left on the air. I mean, there was absolutely no season finale. It seemed like just a regular episode had ended.
Now, on the second season, we just keep watching how new things happen, and the old things keep getting by unresolved. There is a fine line between leaving mysteries and cliffhangers to keep an audience interested, and between just opening new subjects every time and making the audience tired of waiting to know what will happen. I'm about to cross that line, and stop watching lost. Especially when there are so many other good series going on right now, like Commander in Chief, 24, Nip Tuck or Desperate Housewives.
I also think that the show is taking a real slow pace. Half of the episode is irrelevant. Stupid dialogs involving fate and cheap philosophy, or just panoramic views of the island, as well as a great deal of close ups and silences between dialogs which are starting to annoy me.
I'll give the series this season. If there's not something interesting happening, and the pace doesn't speed up double time, I'm sure lots of viewers will start thinking like me, and the show will start to decay.
Competition is tough on television. Unless they wake up and realize they are making huge mistakes, and forcing the plot too much, they will soon enough face with a rating problem that could get the show canceled, and I'm sure that if that happens, we will have tons of questions that will be left unanswered regarding the plot of the show.
The music is terrible too. That very, very slow piano is driving me crazy already, as well as those "pretend to be freaky" violins. JJ Abrams should remember what it was like when he created "Alias", a great show at first, but as its seasons went on, it decayed so much that has made ABC announce its cancellation. What a shock, and guess what, Lost was created by the same guy, so I guess my theory is not that far-fetched.
I sincerely hope that Lost can get back on track, because it's a show which has great potential, and from what I can see, if they do make it right, it can go on for ten years or more easily.
My Little Eye (2002)
Sick!!
This movie is one of the sickest, most annoying films I've ever seen in my whole life. Not only it is slow, low budget and with all the typical clichés the last implies, but it also takes pride on portraying snuff movies as part of the horror genre. Of course it catches your eye, and makes you jump in a few scenes, but it is not because of the horror, but because of the gross of the scenes a snuff movie requires to have. You can expect to see naked women, sex, blood, violence and gore killings. That definitely would get people stressed, however, it doesn't make it a good horror movie. The catch in this movie to make you sweat, is the fact that it shows completely, and with every detail possible, how gruesome a killing can be. If you like that kind of films, then watch it. If not, avoid it at all costs.
Besides that, this movie is of very low quality. It probably cost not more than 10,000 dollars. The cinematography is mediocre, there are a lot of light changes. Acting is ridiculous and the director really needs to find himself another job, no wonder he has not been successful.
I don't know how sick and demented a writer can be to possibly come up with these kind of ideas. He is definitely psychotic and is trying to repress his killing desires by writing these kind of movies. Seriously, he could use some therapy.
This movie is a big failure, it is sick, gruesome, gore, psychotic, demented and it really questions the sanity of the people who made it. Do not watch it, unless you want to be angry for the rest of the day for investing in this kind of garbage.
If you want to enjoy a good horror movie, with people who actually know what they're doing, then here's a good list:
- The Sixth Sense. - The Others. - The Hole. - The Omen. - The Exorcist. - The Shining. - The Ring.
Signs (2002)
One of the worse horror movies I have ever seen.
This looks like a movie that was made for kids. There is not a single moment where I felt really scared. Sure, there are a few times when you might be shaken up because of a stunning moment in the film, but there are basically no more than 3. Instead of being scared, I was laughing a lot more during the movie.
I also noted that M. Night Shyamalan, (the director), does not know how to be a team player. Not only he directed, produced and wrote the film, he also decided to play a role in it. What for? After watching his two prior films, The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, I came to realize that he falls in the same cliche over and over. He always wants to make a twist and a breakthrough at the end of each film for the audience to marvel themselves, but this time, the trick did not exactly work. However, it seems that the American society likes to watch the same things, so I guess I have to give him the credit of knowing how to sell his product.
I am starting to think that Shyamalan's ability of creating original ideas, is running out, for none of them so far outcomes his first hit, The Sixth Sense. I am hoping that he comes up with something smarter next time, otherwise, I will definitely never recommend any of his movies again.
Be smart, and do not waste your money, wait till it comes on T.V.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Absolutely brilliant!
When I first read "The Fellowship of the Ring", I thought the book was unnecessarily descriptive. There were lots of chapters, such as "In the house of Tom Bombadil" or "The Old Forest" which I thought completely boring, for they could have easily been removed from the book and the story would not have been altered in any way. Now that I have watched the film, I totally enjoyed the way Peter Jackson (the director) manipulated the book in a way that would seem more entertaining to the audience, bringing suspense and thrills to anyone, even though you have read the book already, such as the scene of Gandalf and Saruman. The photography is magnificent, and the screen adaptation deserves an oscar. Do not miss this film. If you are doubting upon which movie to watch when you are at the cinema, do not hesitate, and go and see "The Fellowship of the Ring".
P.S. On a more personal note, compared to the adaptation made to the book of Harry Potter and the Philosopher´s stone, this is a hundred times much better. I would even dare to say, that The Fellowship of the Ring as a movie, can actually beat the book. I´m not exaggerating it.
Pay It Forward (2000)
Corny and stupid. Pathetic!
Terrible. The whole movie is completely predictable and Helen Hunt just does not fit on that role, especially after making What Women Want. The whole movie is just a bunch of sentimental nonsense which makes you want to throw up. Very slow and corny, and I also think it contradicts itself at the end. The ending doesn't fit within the story. It is way too in the extreme, which makes the corny, sentimental and ridiculous movie, even more stupid.
I personally thought that Haley Joel Osment was a terrific actor, till I saw him in this movie. His character has nothing different from the one in Sixth Sense. He portrays a lonely, conflicted child who lives with his mother, who by the way is single and suffering (what a surprise), and guess what, she's also an alcoholic. (Not much of Helen Hunt). Osment also plays the role of the insignificant little boy who saves the world with his "Pay it forward" idea. Very ridiculous. And you´ll see him again, crying, begging for help, being Mr. Wise guy and showing all his dramatizing techniques. No wonder he was not chosen to play Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace, he cannot play roles that do not involve crying and exaggerating.
Do not waste your 8 bucks. Watch something else. This is definitely not a recommendable movie. Worst pick of the year for me.
