Wrong Turn (2021)
B for BAD Grade Movie
The movie fails to entertain because the plot is boringly too too familiar, effects unconvincing (if there were any ) , bland , outdated action/scare predictable sequences, and the one that did it for me were the costumes, masks , etc- just seemed to me items put on as afterthought.
Mediocre acting , lesser script.
I was holding out for matthew modine to play deliverance for the movie , but sadly it was too much and dragged him down too.
3 points for the last half hour or 15 minutes, some modicum of action and creative ending.
Ren chao xiong yong (2021)
Real Pro Andy Lau's Magic . It scores a 7/10 for me
This movie entertained me . I found the general level of acting , script , action sequence and story line sufficiently intriguing .
However for me the ultimate joy of this movie was the presence and performance of maestro Andy Lau - while the story line/script and production on the whole may not have been exactly a grand production (not that it was meant to be ), there was sufficient platform for Andy's typical charistmatic personality and acting magic to spring forth , uplifting the movie to well above average .
Breach (2020)
Surprised Bruce Wilis would act in such a movie
The movie seemed to me a very very poor attempt at a horror sci-fi.
Its plot stale, poor script, acting something less than mediocre , and the one thing that recent years often used as a fail sfae backstop (movie effects) fails miserably - half convincing poorly exeted CGI action scenes).
I am a die hard fan (in more sense than one ) of Bruce Willis ,so I feel real bad for him - i.e. seeing him having a role at all in this , such a woefully produced movie .
I really hope he makes a better choice soon.
Revenge of the Pontianak (2019)
A Fair Attempt At A Classic
I had high expectations for an entertaining, possibly powerful retelling of this classic horror tale by Sifu Glen and Gavin (et al).
However, while I did not come away from the movie feeling that it was a failure , I felt disappointed at the movie's lack of oomph.
To me , it failed to conjure an atmosphere of eeriness and foreboding , and I thought its scenes and momentum lacked in the thrill and horror departments quite a bit .
The acting and script seemed adequate , and I especially enjoyed the artistry/cinematography of the scenes set in Kampong setting/reflecting lifestyle then.
I look forward to a future rendition that will also include that -all too classic , too good to be missed - comic relief scene - the Malay Satay man and his two (Chinese and Indian) friends /customers , all whom come face to face with and flee in terror from the Pontianak!
Good try please keep it up
