Daybreak (2019)
The goodn the cringe and the whaaat ??...
I enjoyed the show. It has a good rhythm, nice aesthetic, funny jokes and editing.
I definitely recomend watching it if you want a light, paced comedy to binge watch.
One problem is that it's way too cringy. The love story is cliche which makes it funny. But then it lingers, ... And the music ... and the framing.... It does not work. In the end it becomes so bad it's almost funny again, but with a big cringe.
And finally there are a few things I'm not sure to understand. What's up with all the constant hammering of LGBQT, Womanpower, ... etc. I hope it is meant to be part of the parody, because it is HEAVY. I'm all for equality, people love whoever they want and it's good to promote it, but do we need to be that moronic when doing so ? If it was the intention of the crew to promote those ideas, i'm pretty sure that the movie is counterproductive. It sometime feels like watching a 1960s propaganda commercial, and I get that some people get frustrated by that.
The I-Land (2019)
I think this is one of the worst serie I ever watched
I just wached the first episode. (spoilers) : This is crap.
A few survivors wake up without any memory on a deserted beach and they decide to engage in petty fights, summer love, sunbaithing and swiming.
The emotional range of the actors is limited to smiling, looking scared or wipping. As long as everything is dramatic.
And then there is the writing... everything just happens.
Find a shell ? Allright I'll blow in it.
Call averyone ? They just appear.
Mindlessly walk a few minutes through wild jungle ? Easy, find fresh watter.
I want to swhim in sharks infested water ? randomly cut myself right before.
And finaly the dialogue .... incredible.
I gave up a few minutes into ep2.
