Tekken as a movie
21 January 2024
The movie consists basically of different settings in which they fight until all protagonists are dead, except Johnathan. Like in a shooter or beat em up video game. Arena after arena with waves of enemies that have to be killed. The settings are mostly pretty stylish and Jonathan looks like a hobo in it. That goes on for almost 3 hours. The first movie was a 10 for me, for many reasons. Then it got worse, with the 3rd movie hitting rock bottom. This one is better but it's probably the last one I'm watching. I expected the worst but since the stream was available for 99c I gave it a chance. It is better than the worst but not good. We, as humans, should actually stop making movies that portray violence and killing as something artsy, cool and stylish. Honestly. How should we grow when we entertain ourselves with hundreds of killings in 3 hours? I'm guilty too but where's the benefit to society in this? It's of course a fantasy movie (Kevlar banker suits..) but still...

The personal problems of people who hunt monsters
18 January 2024
Finally: a show with constant flashbacks into several characters past to tell a story. Completely unheard of. Absolutely innovative. Jokes aside: this form of storytelling is so overused that I'm annoyed of it. Add coming of age problems from the main characters and in general a show about how people deal with their problems. This is really boring. I would give one star but the special effects are really good but don't expect a lot of them. The "monsters" or titans are a minor part of the story. The major part are three early twens and their self righteousness. Yawn... Like so many shows recently the proof that a lot of production money can not compensate a weak story.

What an actress
23 October 2023
Like the movie or not, the talent of Kaytlin Dever is simply mindblowing. Her acting alone is worth 1,5h of your lifetime. 1,5h without dialogue, only carried by her acting and the story of course. Some ideas are really good and also the appearance of the Aliens and the UFOs is bold and a refreshing idea. Why shouldn't they look exactly like this? Wouldn't this be ironic? I don't think that I understood the ending but it doesn't matter. How anyone can not acknowledge the brilliance of the acting alienates me. To all who just want to be entertained, it's entertaining. It's a good movie with great special effects.

What a terrible perversion of great story
20 October 2023
I love E. A. Poe and I loved The haunted house on the hill or whatever it was called. This was a 10 out of 10 show and I don't even like horror stories. So my expectations where high. Unfortunately I got disappointed big time. The characters are all blown up cliches and every episode just shows, how perverted the pictured character is. Since The haunted house on the hill every show Mike Flanagan has made was a little bit worse than the one before and now we are at rock bottom. Not only are the characters cliches and the storytelling is bad, this show covers every sexual preference that there is. Well done in diversity but also a cliche already.

I wanted this to be good...
4 September 2023
...because "The Haunted Hill House" was one of the best shows in years. This one is just, sorry to say, boring. Very dialogue heavy, trying hard and, for the bigger part of the show, to be philosophical. I just watched it till the end for two reasons: 1: Hamish Linklater is amazing. What a talented actor among, to be fair, a whole set of talented actors. They're all great but he stands out. 2: I wanted to know, if it ends as I expected it. It did not. As of around half of the show I started to fast forward partially. There are scenes with 5 min of singing a gospel. The end is one long philosophical monologue. This could have been great without this mediocre angel, the leaning to vampirism and if it would be much shorter.

What's with the whispering!?
18 March 2023
This is a woke fest par excellence. Every burning topic is covered or represented and the underlying message is tolerance. There's nothing wrong with tolerance - the opposite - but too much medicine can kill you. In the 4th season I started to skip everything that was not strictly story related but focused on reflection, awareness, emotions and so on. And I think I have skipped over half of each episode. But the most pressing question is: why is Burnham constantly whispering? Who talks like this? It drive me crazy. Skip! Great special effects though. That's probably the worst of all star trek spin offs although it has one of the best CGIs of all of them. The other one on Paramount+ with captain Pike is much better.

This movie is at least an 8
18 February 2023
I don't like action movies very much and I don't like violence. So this movie is actually not for me. But it's a great movie, with an ending, that blew my mind. I didn't expect this. The cinematography is amazing. Always close around the actors and it gives you the feeling, that you are close to what's happening. Oftentimes you don't see more than the protagonists can see. I was positively surprised. Both main actors are great. I don't understand why this movie doesn't have a higher rating. And there are no references to the storming of Capitol Hill. This movie was shot long before. Give it a chance.

Very good
27 January 2023
I don't get the bad reviews. A great story and great acting. Not boring at all. Kaley Cuoco is amazing. Her acting blew me away in the flight attendant (but the character annoyed me) and she doesn't disappoint here. Her face in the slow motion opening scene alone.. She's going to be top league among actresses. The only thing that bothered me a little is the male character. Not her league at all in all aspects. But still, a good actor. Who cares whether this is realistic or has timeline loopholes. It's funny, touching and entertaining. I don't have anything more to say and I only write this sentence to reach this @&$"¥ 600 character limit. Here it is...

Meets expectations
7 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Technically this is state of the art I guess and this meets expectations. Impressive scenes and costumes. I assume the acting is great. It's a little bit hard for me to judge, because the faces are of course a bit artificial, but there are a couple of scenes that really touched me. I'm a little bit tired of the humans come and destroy everything and betray everyone along the way stories as well as of the standard final fight between good and bad (good almost wins, the bad guy is dead but he is not, then the good guy almost dies but finally he wins). And I think David Cameron missed a huge chance to raise attention: At the end of the movie, before the credits are running, only two sentences: x% of the population of earths ocean is already distinct and every day x football fields are burned down in the Amazon. I assume the majority of the audience would be emotionally open to this message after seeing this movie and some might think about it.

Brilliant
4 January 2023
This show is dark and intense. I didn't watch the trailer and I expected something else but this was worth it. The acting is phenomenal and the story is stunning. The only thing that I'm criticizing is, that it's partially too long. I shared everything that I wanted to and now I'm learning that a review has to be at least 600 characters long. That's new, isn't it? And stupid. I understand the intention but I'm not getting paid for this. There are still 144 characters missing, so I guess this is my last review. I will definitely not be forced to analyse something deeper, were more analysis doesn't deem necessary just to meet a character limit.

S****fall

I cannot believe what I have just seen. It's worse than Aquaman (deemed impossible). I didn't realize and I couldn't believe that this is a Roland Emmerich movie. Not that I think his previous movies are masterpieces but they had at least a halfways logical plot. These poor actors. Most of them are great and played great roles in the past and I imagine them starting crying and being ashamed when they saw the final screening. The story of this movie is so ridiculous, illogical and bad, I couldn't believe it. Every kid who would imagine such a story would end up in therapy. Spare your lifetime. It's not even funny bad.

The Batman (2022)

This movie made me the Sleepman
21 August 2022
.. I fell asleep three times for the first time in my life. It's probably the darkest Batman ever. Bruce Wayne looks like a drug addict on withdrawal? The woman kisses a man she has never seen without a mask before? It's difficult for me with Robert Pattinson, he now played in two absolute terrible movies (this one and the only Twilight movie I have seen) and in one great movie, Tennet. And he played great there. I'm sick of superhero movies with dark, twisted characters. More fun, more punch and staying closer to the characters of the original comics is what I want. Not this.

A sorcerer fights against a witch..
26 June 2022
...what an unbelievable stupid story this is. They don't have any ideas anymore. Harry Potter has more depth then this movie. It's not enough to fight against a supervillain, no it needs multiverses or gods or witches and sorcerers. The first Dr. Strange was entertaining, cannot remember the 2nd anymore and this is just bad... Wandavision was brilliant but this ruins the character for me.

... Instead of watching this movie. It would have been more exciting. I thought independence day is the pinnacle of cheesiness and lame pathos but I know better now. This movie is just a waste of time. Stupid story, by far too long, the music is terrible and so much more. I like Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Kristen Wiig but they are wasting their talent here. It's still not as bad as Aquaman, therefore 2 stars.

Amazing show
31 March 2022
It's a sequel to 'The Good Wife' (watch it!) and almost as amazing. I had troubles with some of the characters (Maia, Marissa), because they pulled my nerves, but overall great acting and writing. Although I stand for most of the covered political topics I found it sometimes slightly exhausting that almost every episode covers a woke topic. But there's always humor in it and it shows mostly several points of view. So perhaps it's also an important show as it points out the importance of democracy and equality, but also it's threats. But it's still entertainment. The story and episodes are really well written. Many WTF moments. Season 4 is one of the best things I've ever seen. Season 5 was partially hard to watch because this fake court story was too far fetched for me. I guess it's an analogy to the Capitol riots and it's still very good but it has some loopholes.

Good story(s), well played, great actors and even the end of the show is great storytelling. Will Gardner is one of the coolest characters ever. The sequel, The Good Fight, is amazing too.

The 1st bad Guy Ritchie movie
8 January 2022
It's actually a mediocre movie about revenge but mediocre is really bad for Ritchie standards. After a masterpiece like The Gentleman and great great movies like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch or RocknRolla this is just bad. The dialogues are the worst, the people behave like robots and Jason Statham is always starring at walls. Why? I am disappointed but probably I expected too much.

Expected little and was pleasantly surprised
23 May 2021
This is a good, funny movie and it has even an underlying message for those who need a meaning in their movies. It's violent but it's so exaggerated that it's comical. I don't like and I don't watch movies with a lot of violence (with a few exceptions, the 1st John Wick is a masterpiece) but I liked this one. Give it a try in case you are hesitant. As another reviewer wrote, it's like groundhog day meets John Wick.

Months after I have seen it...
13 May 2021
...I still think about it from time to time. It's creative, different and it has a great story and message. The weakest point is Jason Segel, who is a weak actor, but Sally Fields and Andre Benjamin are amazing. I mean, Sally Fields wrote movie history with the cemetery scene in steel magnolias. And, as said, the story is captivating. Why not 10? Because it's not Northern Exposure. That's the benchmark.

And again a story that makes no sense
23 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Again because I feel i have seen so many movies recently where the story is weak and inconsistent. Balcan is not Ucraine, 56000 flying hours, following an Android to stop him although they bomb the place anyway, being 1 mile away in 30 seconds and so on... I mean, it's so obvious that you notice it even if you don't think about it. Netflix really has to do better than this.

Mainstream anyone?
30 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, it is a well crafted show with great settings and costumes. All the positive things in the other reviews are basically true. But a masterpiece? Let alone with this ending? What I see in the last episode is a mainstream, focus group optimised twist. All the important people in her life get together and/or show up to help her win? People who she haven't seen in a long time, people who she treated questionable in many cases? And all of a sudden she is able to play without drugs and beat a yedi knight of chess? All summarized in the last episode? Which ends that she is playing against an old man again, as she did as a kid with the man who set her on the path for her future life? Can it be more cheesy? I don't think so. Good entertainment though and better than expected.

Disappointed
13 October 2020
Hill House was a 10 for me and I don't even like horror or creepy stuff. So this was not the reason why I was so excited to see this show. I hoped for the same perfect setting, great actors, suspenseful story and everything, that made hill house so great. And it might be true that it's not fair to compare these two shows but what would one expect with the same director, writer and parts of the cast? And although settings and actors are great I didn't like it for the most part. The story is told very, veeeryy slowly. There are some despicable characters and a story in which I got lost sometimes. It was hard for me to watch all episodes and I only did it because I wanted to know how it ends. But only in the very end it reveals what it really is. Not mainly a ghost story but a ... story. And even though that's clear earlier, I didn't realise until the end that everything that has been shown is actually about.. I am torn between the disappointment because of my expectations and the admiration that there are still writers, directors and production companies that produce shows in which they simply tell a story in a pace that they think this story should be told. I'm sure they know that they will lose viewers along the way but still; they want you to wait till the end until you see the whole picture. And that's actually great.

The 1st hour is great..
13 September 2020
... It only gets worse after that. Amazing sceneries and atmosphere, good actors but the plot is getting more and more stupid. The longer it runs the more difficult it is to watch. It's like in many horror movies, the characters have to act stupid so that they can get into horror situations. Halfway through the movie it becomes clear how it will end. Imagine the end, stop there and don't let the second half ruin the film for you.

Disappointing
13 September 2020
Perhaps I'm just too stupid but for me this movie tries too hard to be smart and meaningful. Guy Ritchie made amazing movies like Snatch, Gentleman, Rocka Rolla.. That's a lot for one director. The actors have an undisputable track record as well, so it's not that. He tries new ways with this movie, which is fine, but it doesn't reach me. On a sidenote: Andre Benjamin is impressive as always. I liked him as a musician, although that's not my music actually, and I like him as an actor.

Still an amazing show
10 September 2020
I love this show. It's great comedy without violence, sex or a social message. When you think that's old fashioned, so be it. But I enjoy sometimes a show that's just simple entertainment. In later seasons the characters have to deal with serious troubles sometimes, as you have in real live. The main characters are amazing actors and a perfect fit. It's as good as "Friends" or "Northern Exposure".
