One More Shot (2024)
Decent Scott Adkins VOD release
This is a sequel to the excellent 'One Shot' that improves on the original. The film appears to be one continuous shot. The location, an empty Stansted, is well used and the action is unrelenting. There is no sentimentality, no character arcs and no neat ending. Even the terrorist has some redeeming qualities. If you want a decent popcorn action flick, the this is for you. Michael Jai White has a small part and Tom Berenger pops up for a day's filming. The camerawork is great and the plot propulsive. I love B movies and this is a great example of how to make the most of a limited budget. Highly recommended.
Dashcam (2021)
Decent low budget horror
I thought this was an inventive enough horror film. The main character is an obnoxious American musician, presumably playing a version of herself. It brought back memories of COVID lockdown and the surreal nature of it. People seem to hate the film because of the main protagonist but why should they be likeable? It is funny ( mainly because the lead's dialogue is so outrageous) and has some decent gore. There is no exposition and the chat on the screen commenting on events is droll. If you want a horror comedy that propels you along for 70 minutes then I would recommend this. Rob Savage kis a director to watch.
Baghead (2023)
Perfectly adequate British horror
NO SPOILERS
I nearly did not go to see this because of terrible reviews (17% on IMDB). Glad I did because it looks great, the cast are good and Ned Denehy plays a creepy lawyer as only he can. If you do not recognise the name I promise you will remember his face because he is creepy as hell. It is a decent horror but suffers in comparison to 'Talk to me' as the premise is similar. It is based on a short from 2017 so is not a rip off. This is the only explanation I can think of for all the hate from film journalists.
It is a definite R rated horror with the courage of it's convictions and worth a watch if you are a horror fan.
Extraction (2015)
Decent B movie
Sure, Bruce only appears for 10 minutes, but it is a straight to video action movie made on the cheap with good fights, plot holes and the gorgeous Gina Carano that clocks in at under 90 minutes. If you want to watch mindless action and appreciate a low budget effort, I would recommend.
