Stand by Your Man (1981)
An Emmy Worthy Performance By Annette O'Toole
This film ranks right up there with the other country biographical films such as "Sweet Dreams" and "Coal Miner's Daughter".
I found it to be an extraordinary biography with an Emmy worthy performance by Annette O'Toole.
Unfortunately at this time it is not available on home video. I was able to record a copy from one of the movie channels. If you have an opportunity to see this fine film. don't miss it.
Chuck Woolery: Naturally Stoned (2003)
The Consummate Game Show Host Up Close
"Naturally Stoned" is Game Show Network's entry in the reality TV genre. Chuck Woolery is a "natural" to be featured in such an endeavor. The beloved and charismatic game show icon takes the audience on an initimate and personal look at his family and home life.
The story line also takes the audience on an informative tour of the mechanics and production of his latest game show "LINGO". Viewers are shown everything from the set construction to contestant tryouts and selections. Footage includes everything from arguments with staff members to introduction of the crew.
When this program was announced I was apprehensive about the premise. The end result is informative and entertaining. With Game Show Network's consummate game show host, Chuck Woolery.
The Joe Pyne Show (1965)
A No-Holds-Barred Interview Show
My recollection of Joe Pyne is his pleasant, charismatic demeanor and biting, to the point questions. I vividly recall his interviews with the likes of Lester Maddox and other politically charged figures. In the days of his reign it was not uncommon for the interviewee to become upset to the point of walking off the show.
It has been nearly 40 years since the Joe Pyne Show. The show was sort of a cross between Larry King, Don Imus and 60 Minutes.
