Kinavally (2018)
Poor copy of Pee Mak
Bad performances from most, especially the actress in one of the key roles. Story/ script copied from the above mentioned Asian movie.
I was hoping to see something original and came across this mess.
2.0 (2018)
Really bad in all fronts
Where do I begin...
Bad story, bad characters, VFX that looks worse than low budget movies and pathetic direction. The lead actor seems a complete misfit for the role of a scientist or the robot, the supporting cast have nothing to do. Tried watching this twice but could not beyond the first 45 min. It is so bad, VFX is so crappy that it looks like it was made 40 years back. What were the creators thinking (guess they were not thinking)
Not sure where all the money went. Hope there is no 3.0
Onward (2020)
Pixar is leagues above Disney
Watched Onward and Frozen 2 back to back and realized that the former is leagues better. Onward (Pixar) connects you with its characters at an emotional level and you become part of the journey.
Pixar makes you realize that animation is not simply above great animation but the ability to go beyond the superficial and achieve an emotional connection, something most live actions fail to achieve.
Mortdecai (2015)
Not as bad as most reviews suggest
A decent comedy based on good material. Somehow hate for the lead actor seems to have resulted in the dismal performance and negative reviews. Not sure how many actually did see the movie before giving the reviews.
Not the best comedy movie but better than the hangover movies.
Seis Manos (2019)
Different and good
A pleasent surprise. Different from the anime shows in such that it doesn't need to sexual undertones or characters that look like kids.
Definitely borrows from other material but does enough to create something watchable. The action sequences don't seem random and seem well choreographed.
The only criticism I can think of that it seems more Asian rather than mexican although all characters are Mexican
