Cool.
5 October 2001
Halloween is my favorite horror movie so this documentary was very interesting and fun to watch. It just shows that you dont need a great or high budget, over-the-top special effects or a really famous cast (though Halloween does have a good cast) to make a truly great, breathtaking, memorable flick. This documentary is cool, I'll always love Halloween! Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence are brilliant.

The best comedy ever made!
3 September 2001
Bette Midler and Shelley Long are great as the lead characters. This film is very entertaining and funny. I love all the action sequences and Bette Midler's performance. But both Shelley Long and Midler are equally great. My favourite comedy of all time! Witty and hilarious. A must see.

Give it a break!
21 July 2001
I'm tired of this film being slammed by critics and fans alike simply because there is no Shape. There is a lot of mystery in Halloween 3. Why was Ellie's father killed? What goes on in Cochran's factory? And what's the deal with that freaky town Santa Mira? I found this film entertaining and thought that the acting was decent. This would be a cult classic if it was not part of the series. Sure, this film is not as good as the Michael Myers' films, but if this is the worst Halloween film, then the Halloween series is doing something right!

The best!
14 July 2001
"A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" is the best film in the Elm Street series. It's funny, intelligent, entertaining and has some great characters which we get to know and love. The special effects are also great and I'm glad that Heather Langenkamp returned to the series.

First impressions do NOT last!
7 July 2001
When I first watched Prom Night III: The Last Kiss, I thought it was a load of rubbish. Recently, though, I re - watched the film again and really loved it. I liked the humour in this film and found it to be entertaining. I take back what I said about it in my user comment on Prom Night IV: Deliver us From Evil. Actually, I like it more than Prom Night IV. The acting was okay also, as were the gore effects!

Very suspenseful!
1 July 2001
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is slow starting off, but picks up about half-way through the film. It's not as gory as I expected. It's very violent, but not gory. That's what makes this film a stand out. It's not gory, but terrifying. What's even more scary, to me, is that this film is based on true events. Not for everyone, but definitely for true horror fans!

If House 3, then it's the best in the series.
12 June 2001
The Horror Show is my kind of film. It's slasher and it's cool! I don't know why it is called House 3 over here in Australia. But I like it better than the other House films. This is more of a slasher film. While the other films were more "spooky" (goblins, ghosts, mysterious - furry - creatures, etc.). The Horror Show rules, but House, House 2 and House 4 sucked. But that's only my opinion.

Scream 3 (2000)
10/10
I love you Neve Campbell and Parker Posey!
31 May 2001
I was way too harsh before. Scream 3 is above average. Courteney Cox-Arquette turned in a decent performance and there is some great humour in this flick. While not as good as Scream and Scream 2, Scream 3 is a "cut" above the rest. I look forward to Scream 4. God, I cant wait. Ehren Kruger is great, but it would be nice if Kevin Williamson could write the fourth installment! Keep on screaming!!!!!

Great horror TV series.

Friday the 13th The Series is great. Every episode is enjoyable and incredibly suspenseful. It is totally different from the Horror series Friday the 13th (with Jason). Even non horror fans should get a kick out of this great series.

Better than the first 2 sequels.
27 April 2001
Let me start off by saying that I hate the Mary Lou sequels. Not only are they boring, the are just, in general, pathetic. That's why I cant understand why people say that Urban Legends: Final Cut is the worst horror film/sequel ever made. They obviously haven't seen Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II and Prom Night III: The Last Kiss. Prom Night IV: Deliver us from Evil is not one of the greatest horror sequels around. But it is a masterpiece when compared to the earlier sequels. The first Prom Night was an excellent film. God I love it. But what the hell is up with the sequels? Slasher flick fans should have some fun with this, I sure did! It's mildly entertaining and very, very suspenseful and freaky. Father Jonas scares the crap out of me. I love this film for what it's worth.

Psycho IV: The Beginning (1990 TV Movie)
Another good addition to the Psycho series.
25 April 2001
Psycho IV: The Beginning was an enjoyable movie in my opinion. I really loved the character Fran Ambrose and CCH Pounder's performance. This film is quite disturbing at times, but I think it's a nice touch. I just don't understand why this film was made only for cable. It was decent, and far above average for a made for TV/straight to video film. As with all sequels, this film does seem to have some plot holes and continuity errors, but it is, in general a decent sequel to Hitchcock's masterpiece. I think that Psycho II was the best sequel in the series, but I like Psycho III and IV the same. They are all great films. Also this film is nowhere near as violent or bloody as Psycho III.

A great TV movie. With a few minor changes, you wouldn't know that this was made for TV!!

Highly recommended!

Scream 3 (2000)
10/10
Nowhere near as good as the first two Scream films.
22 April 2001
It has to be said, Scream 3 is not as good as it's earlier films. Now, I am a huge fan of Scream 3, believe it or not. When Scream 2 rolled around, I was shocked at how good it turned out to be, I was so looking forward to Scream 3. Three long years I waited. A lot of people have told me that Scream 3 is boring and not as enjoyable as the first two films. I feel this is because writer Kevin Williamson did not write this one. Williamson has a unique style in his writing. He creates characters we care about and his scripts are always witty and a lot of fun. Scream 3 seems much more serious than the first two. Neve Campbell, as always, turns in a great performance. I really felt for Sid as her demons came back. On the other hand, I didn't like Courteney Cox-Arquette's performance and the chemistry between Dewey and Gale. They have both changed so much. And what the hell is with the gore in this film? Now I am not a big fan of gore in horror films. I don't mind it, but Scream 3 had none. I am trying to think of the most creative death and all I can come up with is the whole frying pan thing!! I didn't get it. The first two films were very violent and had quite a lot of gore, yet the deaths seemed realistic. Scream 3 had none. I think that the producers were slack this time around. This film hasn't the spark that the earlier films had. But I DO love Scream 3. When I saw it in the theater I was blown away. I had so much fun and couldn't wait for it to arrive on video hire shelves. But when it came to video and I watched it over and over again, I realised it could have been so much better. I know I am being really harsh and Scream 3 is above average and could have been so much worse. It's just when you have waited for a film for so long, and it's not as good as you expected, you feel a little bitter.

I won't lie, if Scream 4 ever is released I will kill to see it, but I only hope, perhaphs, it will be an improvement. But see Scream 3. It wraps up everything quite well, it's just not as enjoyable as the first two, though, it has a lot of funny and well done moments.

I will give it 10 out of 10, considering it is my third favorite film!

Sneakers (1992)
Great fun!
22 April 2001
Sneakers is an entertaining, suspense filled film with an excellent cast. It has a clever blend of action, comedy and suspense. Robert Redford and the rest of the cast all perform great. Definitely one to watch.

Little Nikita (1988)
A good thriller with some great acting.
22 April 2001
"Little Nikita" is a good thriller and I found it really enjoyable. I am glad that the lovely Loretta Devine (who played Reese in Urban Legend 1 and 2) had the honour of working with River Phoenix before his death. Sidney Poitier gives a good performance also. I found it highly entertaining and enjoyable. And once again, River Phoenix becomes his character in this taut thriller from Richard Benjamin.

Psycho III (1986)
10/10
Not as good as Psycho II, but still pretty decent.
22 April 2001
Psycho III was a good film. It was very violent though and had to much nudity. And sure, that's fine for your every day horror flick, but this is a Psycho film! Maureen was a nice character and I LIKED Norman despite what he does in the film. Tracy was a good character, though I thought Roberta Maxwell could have done a slightly better job, but then, who am I to judge. Leonard Maltin said that this is just a pointless sequel, but I really enjoyed the way in which it tied up all the loose ends from Psycho II. Most of the death scenes look fake, so what. Anthony Perkins directs. Good on you Norman!!

Personal rating: 10 out of 10.

The second best sequel in the series.
17 April 2001
Wow, "The Curse of Michael Myers" what a great film. Suspenseful, entertaining, creative and a clever plot which I love. Many hate the 'Thorn' concept, I love it. I think that it gives the Halloween series some plot. Marianne Hagan is a wonderful actress and turns in a excellent performance, especially for her first film and Paul Rudd and Donald Pleasence are great also. My only complaint is that why wasn't Danielle Harris in this film as Jamie? She wanted to return, but the producers said no. I thought J.C Brandy was great, but I love Danielle Harris. Still, I love Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. I think The Shape's mask looks the best in this film and George P. Wilbur is the best Michael Myers ever. Incredibly creepy and suspenseful, Halloween 6 rules!

I adore this very violent, but immensely enjoyable film. The Halloween horror series - by far the best in the Genre.

Phoenix saves the film!
17 April 2001
River Phoenix is by far my favorite male actor. In every film he starred in, he turned in breath-taking performances. Why did he have to die? "My Own Private Idaho" is not the best Phoenix film. But is not THAT bad. River turns in an excellent performance as the narcoleptic street hussler Mike. Keanu Reeves' performance as Scott is a little shaky, but that's to be expected. I am glad that River took this extreme role. It shows what a truly talented young man he was and some times I have to restrain myself from crying when I think of how it all ended up for him, that Halloween night of 1993. In my opinion, "Stand by Me" was the best Phoenix film, but he starred in so many great films. And I am proud to say that I love him as a actor/film maker. So, to fans of River Phoenix, if you haven't, give "My Own Private Idaho" a try. But I have to say I thought "Sneakers" (which was released one year later) was a lot more entertaining and much more fun.

I give My Own Private Idaho a 5 out of 10.

I apologise for the poor comments.

Psycho II (1983)
10/10
It's a wonderful sequel to Hitchcock's masterpeice!
17 April 2001
Psycho II is a great horror sequel. Not only is it entertaining, it has many wonderful twists and turns through out which make it even more enjoyable. Anthony Perkins, Vera Miles, Robert Loggia and Meg Tilly are all great and turn in very good performances. Vera Miles turns in a very eccentric performance, it shows how much she hates Norman. Anthony Perkins makes the viewer feel sorry for him as he slowly becomes confused again. Meg Tilly has a lot of charm and Robert Loggia is very good as the very caring Doctor. It's a well done thrill- ride, highly entertaining and full of suspense, thanks to director Franklin. Well done to every one involved. I think this is the best Psycho sequel. I love it a lot! You'd think that as it is the sequel to the classic Psycho, it would suck, it does not!

My personal rating: 10 out of 10.

Stand by Me (1986)
10/10
God bless you River Phoenix!
9 April 2001
Okay, okay, I know that this is the second review of Stand by Me I have submitted, but as time has passed since I wrote the last review, this has become one of my top 5 favorite films. It gets better the more times you watch it. River Phoenix is a magnificent actor. He is definitely one of my favorites. I wish I had the skill to act such as he. It is so sad what happened to him though. I love Stand by Me. After you view this great flick, you think differently about friendship, I wish I had the adventures that the four boys had. Stand by Me is an adventure fantasy, but almost everyone can relate to it and understand what the characters were going through. The character development is brilliant, the watcher gets to know and feel for all of the characters in the film. Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, Kiefer Sutherland, John Cusack and Richard Dreyfuss are all stunning. Wow, what a great cast. I thought Now and Then was a good film, but when compared to Stand by Me, it has a long way to go. I am outraged that people consider Now and Then the Stand by Me for girls. I love this film, and am so glad I found a copy on DVD. God bless River Phoenix. A great actor that everyone should look up to and respect!

I give Stand by Me a 13 out of 10!

Ten years ago HE changed the face of Halloween. Tonight, HE'S BACK!
8 April 2001
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers is a very well made horror film and is a great thrill-ride. It is incredibly suspenseful and entertaining. Donald Pleasence is a great actor and is very likable and I am so glad that he graced the Halloween series with his solid acting. I love you and miss you Mr. Pleasence. Ellie Cornell and young Danielle Harris also do excelent jobs at portraying their characters. If it weren't for Halloween 4, then I think that Halloween series would not be as successful as it is today. Thank God that Moustapha Akkad decided to continue with the Michael Myers story after "Season of the Witch". I love Halloween 3, but the Michael Myers films are much more fun. The Halloween series is so much better than the other horror series of the 80's. Also, I find that the Halloween flicks are no where near as cliced as a Friday the 13th films. This is my second favorite Halloween film. Right behind the first. Michael Myers is very scary also. I really love this film alot. It shows that a genuinely good horror sequel can come out of the 80's. A big improvement over Halloween 2 and 3, 'The Return of Michael Myers' delivers!

A definite and well deserved 10 out of 10.

Well done Mr. Ottman!
28 March 2001
John Ottman has proved that he is a skillful film-maker with Urban Legends: Final Cut. This film is better than the 1998 film Urban Legend. Jennifer Morrison turns in a wonderful performance as the heroin Amy Mayfield, a film student at Alpine University. I love this film! And no, I don't have an IQ of 3.4. Final Cut was written BEFORE Scream 3, but Dimension Films were in such a rush and went with whatever script Ehren Kruger threw at them. Final Cut is entertaining and shocking. This film does have some lame lines, I know that now, but it's not as bad as I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Why does everyone knock and ridicule Joey Lawrence? Just because he starred in Blossom does not mean he is a bad actor. I thought he turned in a decent performance in this film and so what if he is credited here as Joseph! I thought a fencing mask and a long black coat as the killer's costume was a very clever and well thought out idea. Some think that it is lame, but hey, it's a hell of a lot better than a woolly-hooded jacket. The killer was very freaky and reminded me of Mr. Ghostface from the 'Scream' trilogy. Some of the death sequences in Urban Legends does look a little fake, in particular Simon's death, but so what. You cant have it all! Reese, Amy and Vanessa are my favorite characters. I love Reese and am so glad that Loretta Devine decided to return. She was great in the first film, she's even better in this one. John Ottman did a great job on this film, a great job. His direction, score and editing make this an entertaining ride into terror. Some scenes are genuinly frightening (the mine tunnel scene, ice bath-tub sequence) while others crack me up thanks to Ms. Devine! I actually thought that this was funnier than Scream, but Scream is a better movie. This is my fourth favorite teen thriller. Just behind the three Scream films.

And in closing, this is not a perfect film (I think it is, but it clearly is not). But it is nowhere near as bad a 'critics' make it out to be. So until a user comment can truly prove to me that this film sucks, I will always love this creative, shockingly entertaining film. Keep up the good work John Ottman, a great underrated director who I look forward to seeing more of in the future.

10/10

(I am aware that I have already submitted a review on this film, but I felt I should write another one, now that I know the film better. Thanks!)

Now and Then (1995)
I love "Stand by Me". I love this
26 March 2001
"Now and Then" is very simular to "Stand by Me". Thats why I saw it. It is a girlie film but I did enjoy it and even own a copy! It's only flaw- it's cliched (but hey, I'm a horror fan, so it sorta sits well!). Four friends all aged 12, an over- weight kid that gets picked on. The four friends have to cope with loss, death and of course.... adolescence. All these things were brought up in "Stand by Me". Despite "Now and Then"'s flaws, it is, in general, a great coming of age flick. Well acted and has a great cast of young and adult actors. The comedy is better in this film than it is in Reiner's 1986 hit. And seeing as this is a comedy, it delivers.
