Foundation (2021)
Ignore the haters, great new space opera
There are a lot of haters out there, but this is a great new show. I didn't read the books, so I can't speak to accuracy, but I think this has been set up as an awesome new take on sci fi. Acting, cgi, costumes, set design and production quality are all fantastic. Fans of The Expanse, Game of Thrones, Star Trek and Hunger Games will love this.
American Horror Stories: The Naughty List (2021)
Total mess
I love AHS, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk...but this episode was a complete disaster. Cheap horror, poor writing and horrible acting. Danny Trejo was the only redeemable quality. I like the idea of putting a spin on influencers and liked the tid bit about the origin of Santa, but this was just a total waste of time for me.
Westworld: Journey into Night (2018)
Great set up for an exciting season, but what's going on with ERW
I liked the episode, contrary to popular opinion. As many probably don't remember, the first season had a very slow start as well. This episode seemed to be setting up for a great story line. I can't wait to see how it develops!
BUT...does Evan Rachel Wood look different? It seems like she's wearing a very unconvincing wig and WAY more make up than in season one.
The Walking Dead: Bounty (2019)
Horrible accent
I really love where this story line is going and I'm happy that without Rick and Maggie this season has stayed every bit the nail biting TWD I love. But I have to say Samantha Morton's southern accent is absolutely atrocious. This is another case of an actor without southern roots completely misrepresenting how the accent actually sounds. The dialect coach should really spend more time listening to people from the south rather than Mammie from Gone with the Wind.
A Discovery of Witches: Episode #2.8 (2021)
Great interpretation
This episode really focused on Marcus and Phoebe's relationship in a way that the books didn't. I loved it! It was such an important plot line that got missed in the books and this show really gave it the time it deserved.
Barkskins (2020)
New gem from Nat Geo
This show is a great antidote to a lot of bad historical shows out there these days. The filming is beautiful, the acting is fantastic and the writing weaves tales and intrigue into the already fascinating "New France." The show doesn't waste any time by jumping into scandal in the first few minutes...add some 17th century French arrogance and flamboyancy and I'm hooked!
