No One Will Save You (2023)
A great Alien Twilight Zone style movie
It's got to be one of the best Alien horror movies so far, which there aren't many of actually. So, IF you like Alien Horror or a scare/thriller, THEN I recommend checking it out for sure. Otherwise, you probably won't like it as much OR if at all.
One of those reasons MIGHT be because it has an abnormal lack of dialogue. Which won't appeal to some.
It's actually, OLD SCHOOL, with it's "show don't tell" style. I'm impressed they committed to doing it that way, and it still works well.
The actress is great, I've seen her in Dopesick, since it's all action, that probably was a pretty big challenge for her.
Would be Fun for Halloween Teens too. No major content issues.
If you like these movies FOR SURE check this one out:
Other Movies like this are:
Fire In the Sky
10 Cloverfield Lane
A Quiet Place
A Quiet Place II
The Twilight Zone
Interpretation of the Ending, SPOILERS:
When the Aliens read her mind, they see that through her suffering she has gained empathy for others. So, she is therefore trusted to return and live on earth without the Mind Control bug. She has also overcome the pain of not forgiving herself, when she sees her friend face to face again. She is now happy and free because people won't judge her for the harm she did before.
Grizzly Man (2005)
An Exploitive Documentary it seems
All the thumbs down for this Doc.
I watch a lot of Documentaries, this was a horribly biased one.
An amateur nature enthusiast wants to make his own national geographic videos and seems to mimic many other hosts of said shows. Seems to go great for him quite awhile, till it doesn't... But the show doesn't explore much of anything other then his death.
Many times, the narrator and others TELL you what to think about the subject matter. They TELL you what the man believed, instead of showing you much. Putting words into his mouth, which he never is shown saying...
Most of the run time is devoted to explaining the death of the man, and not much more.
Within the first 5 minutes you find out people died and then that is the main subject of the whole movie.
It goes into details about the remains multiple times, for what? Comes across as seriously exploitive!
Somewhat like the grizzly enthusiast man himself quite possibly.
The untold story it looks like to me is someone, who was seeking for purpose especially as an entertainer personality.
He worked as an entertainer in a restaurant, then tried Hollywood, and had addiction problems. He found some purpose in highlighting nature.
Which the question that was never answered for me was Who was the footage he was filming made for??
He seems to mention a number of times of having fans across the world, but the documentary was so lamely done it never explained this.
In our modern social media world, this movie takes on a new light.
Reality TV like ALONE which is filmed in Alaska was essentially what this guy was doing!
And many YOUTUBE stars are surprising similar as well.
This guy was a loner in the wilderness but somewhat LOVED the attention of his camera!
It seems there were MANY shots showing him PUT on a persona, in other words some of it was a show to him.
Yet the Documentary does not question the reliability of the HOST but instead PLACES his OWN narrative on the subject.
A really bad DOC!
That doesn't explore the subject matter very deeply.
The Great Hack (2019)
A BlueAnon must see, still whining about losing 2016
A massive struggle fest as a bunch of liberals make a tired documentary about the reason they still have no clue how Trump beat Clinton in 2016.
Yet Obama used the internet too, BUT now it's a massive problem because they lost.
Even though, Hillary had the same kind of data and internet strategy to target undecided as Trump used. It's actually pretty simple, could it just be that one candidate wasn't as liked as the other for the role of president?
The whole doc HINGES on the theory that their companies AD strategy is better than every other company that does the same things.
Marketing and Advertising industry propaganda.
Since everyone is bombarded by ADS all day now, the truth is that ADS work less and less...
Funny how they use the term propaganda, because that is what this doc comes across as. Not much data or BOTH sides telling thier story, just a one-sided argument with many people's opinions on the subject matter.
Facebook Zuckerburg, Google, BIG tech, BIG media, costal elites, look at who they voted for. Overwhelming Democrat.
Trump won because more average Joes voted for him... They wanted to try something NEW, the country swings back and forth over and over again, look a history. Something Fresh and New, people give it a shot.
No big deal, end of story.
The Fabelmans (2022)
ATier - Slice of Life - Coming of Age
Created to inspire a next generation in film making. Teaching you might have no idea what you are doing but effort and work can pay off.
Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.
Very likable characters and acting. But still true to life flaws that bring the edge to the topic. Family vibes were great. But can also be viewed as a tragic plot.
Note: how the first movie Sam ever makes is of a train wreck.
Note: How his dad tells him "film" is not building something real. Yet his situation in his relationships.
Note: How it is Sam filming that leads to real consequences for their family, but also reveals the truth.
Note: contrast between Sam's subjects in film. His mom how he captured her true and fake expression in different moments. And how the bully at school was portrayed both true and fake.
Overall Well shot and well acted film. Would want even more of these characters and storyline.
Great moments that you don't expect due to real life zaniness!
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
The Staring of the... lames. 2022 Ed.
A cross between Detective comics, X-files, and an episode of CSI, it's a movie. 2022 Take.
Roll: FBI promotional video. (FBI money?) (ICYU win)
Clarice Starling running from the title card, alone in the woods. Why is she training alone? Cooties!
She "is" just that hardcore people.
Called in, her special "assignment" is a doozy to drop on a student. Even though she is top of the class with all of the psychologists and pro-filer's in the world why not a mid 20's 30's student instead. Especially with it being such a sensitive case and subject matter. So trying to bait him. Wait... doesn't that makes it even worse...
Is that even legal? Is she getting paid? Is she even an agent? Where is Keanu?
So, this IS actually Harly Quinn's origin story, right?
Whatever, lets send her to a dangerous psychopathic serial killer for her senior capstone.. Oh, yeah and by herself as well, no FBI partners system yet. But she asks nicely at the asylum so they just do whatever she suggests. Makes sense. Hannibal Lector at this Arkham like prison, don't get why people say he is a gentleman or likable? He is a total jerk to her from the first second they meet and is constantly trying pathetically apparent to everybody to intimidate and creep her out. She was warned to keep a distance and to not revel personal stuff to him, who the heck is watching her to ensure safety...
She doesn't follow any of the rules, and nobody intervenes, maybe do that again later during this run time.. What a top of the class smarty.
Not only that but Hannibal has attacked visitors before and kills a fellow inmate later on, what kind of lame operation is this where they choose to put a dangerous re-offending criminal next to a bunch of other mentally vulnerable criminals. Well they all scream on que when she leaves, but don't make a peep when Hannibal meets with her hmmm..
Hannibal acting class is like: okay, now be as creepy as you possibly can, and make sure to stare more. It's somewhat laughable on a number of lines, but mostly works out I guess.
Well Clarice decides to take on a top priority case as a student (is it legal?), by herself so it seems because you barely ever see anyone else working with her. And she goes off by herself to dangerous situations without a partner, like most thrillers cliches for the majority of the running time.
Cops stand around and stare at Clarice... sure, maybe it's because she is FBI, why is she there in the first place? As a agent or student? Why is she all by herself? It's all there to force a awkward situation on gender roles in male dominated work spaces? Whaa, yeah the police force in a small town during the 1980's is male dominated, of course it is, why is she there as the FBI student... I don't buy that they all stand around a stare, most people would be doing something, and talk or want help in a investigation.
Oh well, let's look in on a grieving family instead.
"You do know the rules ma'am?"
Now they make deals with Hannibal, and he gets his way, take me to the senator! Some how he gets a pen and escapes in the most stupid police situation, it's like Andy Griffith and Barney are on duty here! Only weapon is his teeth. And fakes a cop even though he is shorter!
"Clarice"(Why did he say that?)
I see the FBI is actually dumb, Good thing Clarice is on the case... Which house is it? FBI raid or Clarice's rando interview referral place... hmm.. Clarice is tough she should go alone into a strangers home smart idea. Why doesn't he fire in the dark? Well some pew pew's later and she is safe again. So relieved. OH snap a phone call at graduation. How nice.
Xfiles plot lines end this way a lot too.
Anyways, saw this one on many "top" lists. First time view 2022.
12 Angry Men (1957)
Great Concept! 6/10 Effort
Some major cheesy dialog. The script is held back by drama instead of substance. You really don't get much insight into the case. And more then one of the 12 is annoying more then angry.
There could have been more evidence and debate instead some of the characters changing their vote on a whim , more for dramatic effect then any kind of logic that is believed.
Modern true crime and internet sleuthing can show you what a debate of back and forth speculation on cases could bring to the drama.
But instead we get acting for dramatic sake only.
It's really a 10/10 concept wise, but the twists and turns of convincing someone to change their mind could have been done so much better.
Some big name old time actors give it a try if you like that, but they don't really come across as angry much.
Needed more anger.
Stranger Things: Chapter Four: Dear Billy (2022)
Top Ep Top level production Note
With the pressure building up this whole season... things take off like a rocket on jet fuel right here.
Everything was great, a couple of notes:
1. Amazing fight scene with Hopper, shot well with good hits back and forth with some major slams you can feel. A great twist and a bang.
2. In Cali, a nice sucker punch as things go off the rails out of nowhere, a single take shoot out scene was impressive and awe inspiring action scene.
3. Twists and turns a great audience knock around... with Russia plot line.
4. Asylum with the two gals, good fun and nice quick cut recap of what's looks like a whole other horror movie via the old man storyteller.
5. The big bad Vecna in the upside down had great scenes, Freddy vibes, with 80's horror shots. Graveyard.
6. Intense finale, Sadie Sink as "Max" just took her character to a whole new level, and the show with it. Her arc representing grief, guilt and depression, while being targeted was gripping...
Music, friends her happy memories...
On the edge of my seat... will they go there... and have a character death... thought they might with the two other twists. 1.. 2.. X...
I'm actually glad , we will have more of Max now, with how good the actresses is doing. I did not foreseen thinking about her character this way... This episode put "Max" on the map!
Blown away, I watch alot of media and I haven't reacted to a episode like this in awhile...
Great editing, music, cinematography, writing choices the whole way through on this ep.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
EPIC! Endgame is the season finale of Marvel Movies!
Some scenes could have been edited down a bit.. But why NOT make it EPIC, with one more joke or two?
Also, would have like more from certain characters and less of others. More action would always have been nice too.
But when all was said and done, this movie going experience was just about as good as it gets... IF your a Marvel fan, and have been following it. If not then it wasn't made for you YET, go catch up and watch the last phase. Amazing Time!
Impressive acting caught me by surprise too. And the pay offs are great fun.
The Walking Dead: Them (2015)
Amazing Ep. Subtlety - Season 5 Pivot Point
One of the best subtle episodes to pivot into another arc of the series.
Great use of symbolism to capture their journey so far plus their journey in season 5. Also beginning to foreshadow to something new ahead.
+ Great Cinematography, Epic Whole group shots, walking on the road, Rain storm , and barn shots = Team building
+ Great Sound-scape , The new minimalist style is fitting perfect for the situation, Haunting and introspective
PARTIAL ANALYSIS - SUBTLE THINGS POSSIBLY BEING OVERLOOKED
1. The first couple shots establish it's going to be a Maggie & Sasha centric ep.
2. The following incidents illustrate what is going on with them emotionally as they deal with the deaths of loved ones. Such as Sasha not following rank in the fight.
3. "Losing faith" was a theme with some of the characters and many of the shots. Ex. Maggie's scenes with Gabriel destroying his collar, Maggie and Sasha admitted they are not sure if they have what it takes anymore. etc.
4. At the same time as they are losing faith and hitting rock bottom, a couple seemingly "miracle" like things happen. Ex. Dog are killed when they are hungry, it rains when they need water, They find the barn, The storm blows away the walkers saving them at night.
5. Just as they are hitting a low, and coming to a dead-end something positive happens to aid them to move forward. This is somewhat of a set up to foreshadowing what the ending of the ep. means, with Aaron showing up.
This ep. ties up what has happened in season 5, and now sets up for a new arc with Aaron and the next place they will go.
"We are the walking dead" line is a pivotal moment were the series is being summed up in the episode. Using the line of the title is a huge hint that this ep. symbolized the series as a whole.
The team has peaked in there survival roles, and group building, they have become experts at it.
The team camera shot on the road symbolized this as well as everyone holding the doors back as a team in the barn. Holding the doors back as a team was a symbol of the series as a whole as well. It has been the basic struggle they have been facing. As with Glens line, we can do this together.
But all of this might suggest that they have reached there peak now, they could be split up in the future, but they have also solidified as a unit or family.
Except for Gabriel who in every scene seems out of step, and is the last to help with the door.
Much more symbols to list here.
Check out my reviews for more to come, till next time.
