Welcome to Mama's (2022)
Mama does know best.
When ambition and tradition don't mix, the flavor of Mama's Ristorante is lost. But with the help of Mama's recipe for love, a partnership is born, and her legacy lives on.
The Republic of Sarah: The Perfect Conditions for Disaster (2021)
Snowed in with secrets, scandals and drama
::SPOILERS AHEAD::
Anything can happen during a snowstorm, especially when the right or wrong people are stranded together.
Sarah gets an unexpected visit from Weston, but he's not exactly being honest as to why he's back a week early. Things get naughty when the power goes out and a bubble bath happens. The fun gets interrupted when her Dad shows up, stirring up drama over Weston's motives.
Meanwhile Corrine and Danny are snowed in together at town hall and long buried feelings between them resurface and this leads to sex, reconciliation over their past and trouble in their future.
Grover, AJ and Bella are snowed in at Sweetie Pies . Bella reveals that her Dad and Stepmother Alexis are contemplating divorce, and thinks Alexis is abandoning her just like her mother did. AJ admits that her affair with Alexis is probably what caused everything, and tries to convince Bella that her Stepmother really does care about her despite what else is going on.
My Synopsis:
Corrine's and Danny's marriage and engagement are doomed.
Sarah and Weston make a very cute couple but there are still doubts whether he can be trusted.
Grover means well but he sucks at giving relationship advice, and AJ needs to know when to just not talk at all.
Christmas Ever After (2020)
Sweet and wonderful love story.
Who wouldn't want the hero of your own novels to be real? I know I would. Throw in the fact that he's single and has an adorable daughter and it's a win win situation. I loved the diversity in this film: with the lead actress being in a wheelchair, the sister of the male lead is married to another woman, two women of colour play prominent and influential roles in their industry and none of these details are treated as anything but completely normal things. AS THEY SHOULD BE. I totally applaud the casting and writing departments for this.
.
I've read other reviews that criticized the acting, or the predictable story, or compared it to romance movies from the past and found things that were lacking. I understand what they mean, but under the circumstances I can't agree with them. This film was produced during a pandemic, with strict rules in place regarding face to face interactions between actors. This is a nightmare when you have to portray any kind of intimacy. Romance movies need closeness between characters in order to make a story believable. When you throw Covid-19 into the mix, and only 15 minutes of face to face acting time allowed PER DAY, then you have to really appreciate what the cast and crew were able to accomplish. Oh, and this whole Christmas themed movie was filmed in August during a 15 day period. Snow machines were used to make the falling snow appear more real,
Blood Ransom (2014)
Bloody Nonsense
I watched this whole movie through hoping to find some point or reason for ANYTHING that was happening and came up with nothing. There's no explanation as to why this vamp girl is supposed to be so special, or why Jeremiah is driving her around. Ok fine between the two of them there is some sort of attraction, but why? Neither seems to have any redeeming qualities at all. Bill, who is sent out by the head vampire dude to kill Jerr and bring this vamp girl back is all bang and no bite. He repeatedly has the chance to fulfill his mission, since he magically always knows where our hero and vamp chick are hiding out, but apart from some idle threats he just lets them go? And the ending, wow. We expect some epic fight scene between Jeremiah and Roman but all we get is a mutual scream of rage from both of them, a drawn blade, and then the scene ends. Cut to the white room now painted from floor to ceiling with blood which looks more stupid than gory. And of course Bill is there to stop whatever blood ritual that Jerr and his vamp girlfriend are supposed to be doing to reverse her transformation. A transformation she keeps waffling back and forth about the whole movie. She wants to be cured, and then she doesn't, kill me, save me.. she just can't make up her darn mind. In this blood painted room almost everyone meets their end, so it's rather anticlimactic and unsatisfying. The closing shot has her wandering alone in a sort of daze down a highway in another ridiculous leather outfit that she seems to favor throughout the whole movie. Cue the melodramatic music and then fade to black. WTF did I just watch?
Major Crimes: Bad Blood (2017)

I don't know if Wes (Daniel di Tomasso) really did the driving but Damn it looked fun..
