Red Sparrow (2018)
What is that?
OMG.
I'm about 50 minutes into the movie and I'm so annoyed.
I really don't get why all the American actors have to speak with the fake Russian accent just because they are supposed to be Russian... The movie is in English, so just speak English properly, no one believes that Jennifer Laurence is Russian anyway.
As good as Jennifer is as an actress - she isn't a ballet dancer, she hasn't the body of one, so the story doesn't work for me at all.
Not sure I can watch further.
Christmas Under Wraps (2014)
Good intentions
I guess, the fake snow and the fact, that no one was dressed properly (although everyone talked about how cold it's in Alaska), threw me off a lot, so I didn't quite enjoy this movie.
The intentions were good, the story is a typical romantic and sweet one, as all Hallmark stories are.
But I missed something all the time. Maybe some real snow ;-)
It wasn't a total waste of time but I wouldn't watch that again.
Honey 2 (2011)
Just bad
I had to stop at one point, it was so boring.
The acting is really bad, I couldn't watch Maria pouting another minute.
A lot of clichés, too.
No, just no.
Emily in Paris (2020)
There is one highlight...
What the show does well:
Fashion! Paris! Really funny French guys in the PR firm.
Where the show kind of sucks: Emily. Oh my, how I don't like the character. Such an American cliché, pronounces all the French names consequently English, is so full of her self. No no no.
There is one special highlight in the series and that's the beautiful and nice French guy living next to her ;-)
I watched it because I love Paris and once there was a story around Gabriel, I was hooked. And I will watch another season, yes.
Iron Fist (2017)
I really enjoyed it
First things first: I don't really like comic books and find a lot of the Marvel stuff quite ridiculous.
That being said, I did enjoy the series and here is why:
The story feels real with a hint of mystery and eastern "magic" (the glowing fist). Danny is such a sweet and slightly naïve young man with a big heart and a strong spirit - and that's what I liked most.
I'm glad there is no stupid suit for him, he is way more human and real without that stuff.
I looked up the plot of the comic book and the series don't follow that much, but that's ok for me.
It's modern and not overloaded, which is rather new for Marvel, isn't it?
People complain about the martial art scenes - for the first time in my life I enjoyed them and didn't fast forward, haha. They looked real, not choreographed. The fighters didn't look perfect and that's why I was into it. We can see that Danny is strong and quite capable, but a lot of his strength comes from inside and meditation, not muscles (although Finn Jones is just beautiful with his nice V-figure).
There are some lenghts, yes. And the second season couldn't keep up with the first because there wasn't much of a red line through it to be followed and I didn't get the problem that Joy had to act like she acted. Still liked to watch it though.
Overall, is kind of a slower and quieter series and that's special.
