For God's Sake, DONT BOTHER
26 March 2024
If you are having trouble sleeping then this is the movie for you!! Give it fifteen minutes and you'll be completely flat out. No bumps, no jumps, no scares. No atmosphere, no good acting, no likable characters, no story, no script and absolutely no reason whatsoever to watch this abomination of a SO CALLED MOVIE. I mean, I've seen some bad films but this is the dregs. Please, please do not waste your precious time, you will regret it and certainly do not pay to view. I want to end finish on that note but still have seventy words for the stupid six hundred word review!! I don't normally write reviews as who am I to judge but I felt I need to warn you not to bother. Thank you and Goodnight.

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💖

This was one of the most difficult and hard hitting films that I've ever watched. The cast was fantastic but WOW, Michael Socha as adult Paul was absolutely bloody amazing. This is an 18 rated movie and I really think that this should be brought down as as uncomfortable as this film was to watch I believe that youngsters of today, even those in the system should see this and know what others have been through and should not be written off in life because of the choices they make in later life due to such horrific abuse. I'm so glad I watched to the end and saw the "real life Paul" and his story in the credits. I hope he feels that this has told his story as brutally honest as it was and that he finally, if possible, gets some form of closure. I wish him nothing but love and happiness. X.

Ignore the haters
26 February 2023
This was an awkward and uncomfortable watch to be honest but having said that I gave it an eight out of ten as it was deserved. (In my opinion.) The plot had holes but this did nothing to take away the enjoyment of the film. I say enjoyment as though this was a happy go lucky, happy family story which it certainty was not. Yes it was slow but still held my attention and I couldn't figure out how this would conclude except with an enormous blood bath of revenge. I was wrong. I only clicked how this would finish about five minutes before its conclusion and being truthful I'm usually pretty adept at guessing what the outcome of anything be it books, series or films but this wasn't obvious. Well, not to me anyways. Ignore the hate and just watch it. It may surprise you.

Brilliant
11 February 2023
This was a film that I had never heard of and I just don't understand why. Call me ignorant, but I had no idea that this was a true story until the end as I do not ever recall anything about this diabolical, satatanist, mysoginistic, perverted cruel and above all peadophilic regime being taught or massively reported here and I'm not sure I even spelt some words correctly. My apologies for that. It was such a tense watch but although loathe to say an enjoyable production, it was well done. Strange to see Emma Watson all grown up and at first it was difficult or maybe more awkward to watch her enjoying a "Grown up" relationship, if you get my meaning. I felt like I was witnessing a crime, lol, but to be fair after that initial scene I forgot that she was Hermione Granger from Harry Potter and really enjoyed the film.

Different
21 January 2023
This is not a horror in the gore fest, zombie or slasher type of way. It is much better and much more subtle in its depiction of this genre. This is a film that delves into religion, patriarchy, sexual abuse, victim blaming and a lot more besides. If you are looking for The Exorcist, The Conjuring or any other obvious horror movie then I'm afraid this is not for you. To enjoy this effort you have to really dig deep to recognise the real horror that it portrays and put yourself in the child and the nurses shoes. Even the nun eventually has an epithany that I really did not see coming. It's not faced paced or exciting and not one jump scare throughout. Having said this, the scares are much more evil in that it depicts incest and as previously stated victim blaming and shaming. Watch without expectations and it might just be one of those hidden gems that you happen to have just stumbled upon. Enjoy.

Well..........
1 January 2023
I really do not know where to begin. The best thing about this is that the actors tried hard. It, that being the film, has elements of really good classics including The Entity, The Changeling, Poltergeist One and others. Scenes from these have been copied and pasted into a story that, as you can guess from this and other reviews, does not make an iota of sense. The annoying and unnecessary music accompanying almost the full first ten minutes of the film was sooooo irritating. I have to admit to fast forwarding through most of this as I just wanted it to end. To be brutal, something I don't like doing, I'd have to say, please believe me and the other reviewers, this is not worthy of your time and certainly not your had earned cash. Do yourself a favour and don't bother.

Warning: Spoilers
I was a little loathe to put my toe in the water with this one. Firstly, I'm wary of high scores almost consistently on here. You may call me a cynical but hey ho it's my opinion. The second reason for my trepidation is that in my mind the main two characters are iconic for me in previous roles and I assumed my icons could be dampened. I WAS WRONG AND BOY WAS I. This series has only deepened my already high view of them. This show is gripping from minutes in. Its different, which is difficult to get right for a large audience which I'm sure this will attract. Well Done all involved and a big shout out to the strange child that is the child of the female protagonist. Amazing. ENJOY.

Make up your own mind

Yes, this is full of plot holes and misdirection but if you are looking for something to fill a rainy cold day then you could choose worse by far. I found the story intriguing if flawed and did as others find the final episode a little frustrating but hey, how many times does that happen? Most of the time in my opinion. All this being said I still enjoyed the go with the flow (You couldn't do much else) and reducing your intellectual expectations to setting "LOW," then I think you may just enjoy it for what it is. Yes, improvements required in all areas except I feel the actual story, fascinating, Love Letters to a house, who knew!!! Just sit down and give it a go, remember, you can always turn it off.

Monster (2022–2024)

Chilling
1 October 2022
Absolutely terryfing version of events. The lead gives a superb performance of this monster and sometimes even manages to have you feel sorry for this beast, admittedly not for long but proves what an amazing actor he is. Some scenes are difficult to watch but I for one could not look away. If I had to describe this as something other than chilling I would have to call this a sublime series that really captures the intensity of the nightmare that is Jeffrey Dahmer. I felt so sorry for both parents and his astute but intentionally ignorant grandmother. I think their love and fear of Jeffery is palpable at times and left me personally, anxious and angry but still wanting to see it through. A truly gruesome man portrayed immaculately. Well Done all involved.

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH
23 August 2022
I got 30 mins in and fast forwarded from there. No story, no rhyme or reason, boring, pointless and unless I've not said enough to stop you wasting your time, I'm telling you, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. One of the worst films I have ever seen and the person that passed this fit for purpose, ie, entertainment, wants sacking, END OF. AAARRGGH.

What Happened to Granny???
16 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Slow but riveting. Dark and ominous look at mental illness mixed with bi lines of superstition. I enjoyed it but was rather annoyed that the Granny episode towards the end was never addressed as in, "What the hell happened to her?" other than that small criticism I really liked the over tense atmosphere from start to finish. It's hard to generate this feeling of foreboding especially on a tight budget but this was full of it. Overall a decent watch. If you're looking for blood and guts then I would give it a miss.

The Absolute Dogs B******s
2 August 2022
A M A Z I N G The best Detective Drama I have ever seen. So so brilliant and should still be in production. Absolute Fail to not continue this fantastic series. Completely different to the usual predictable tripe that continues to be peddled and that has no substance. The Detective could have a series just about him as he is such an enthralling, complicated creature with none of the usual traits we get bombarded with full of arrogance and clichéd characteristics. He is an enigma and a bloody throughly engaging one at that. As you can tell, I highly rate this and would recommend it to those who loathe the conceited Poirot and his kind. This guy is human in all ways from his failings, of which he has a few to his brilliance. Enjoy.

Elizabeth Moss reigns!!
1 February 2022
This is a great film and worth a watch. Moss is brilliant as per and is, in my opinion a brilliant actor. Don't compare to the bandaged man rubbish. This is a true thriller and some of the cuts really made me jump especially the bacon and egg scene. Enjoy. X.

Is it Sunday afternoon?
28 January 2022
This is a film that you might want to swerve, yep, definitely swerve it. Boring, confusing, pointless housekeeper, worse than pointless husband and the twin set and pearl twin, well, lost for actual words. No plot, no scares, no nothing. Big fat swerve required.

Where to start. The acting, not so bad. The story had potential but fell flat on its face. The 16+ age restriction, a complete joke and although I wouldn't let a 6 year old watch it, I seriously doubt that they would be scared. If you are desperate to watch a good film then leave this alone.

Realistic ghost story
24 January 2022
This is how it would happen if it ever did. Real people in real life in real places. Not that I don't enjoy a good atmospheric spook tale but this has grit. It's real life depicting the afterlife in order to solve an abduction. No dark gothic mansion or demonic spirits doing impossible acts of let's face it, BS acrobatics and unbelievable, senseless feats. This film is all the more disturbing for exactly these reasons. Brilliant performances by all. To conclude, it's marvelous.

Don't Bother
17 January 2022
Unless you enjoy pointless and not even mediocre, writing, acting, production or coherent plots. Absolutely shocking and not in the way it allegedly set out to be. Characters are wooden except I think for the main protagonist. She had something but it was not her best move saying yes to this nonsense. Other characters were given a sub plot which could well have been interesting if it had had any bearing on the story at all. Clue: Weird neighbour and her selectively mute kids????? Believe me, I really thought, YES, this is were its going. Alas, No, no, no, no. Just plain strange, totally useless addition to an utterly clueless film. Apologies for the rant but my God, this deserved it and more. So annoyed that I wasted nearly 2 hrs hoping it would come to something, well, anything other than the dross climax which is ultimately where it ended up.

But the rest of it is brilliant. Its not what it looks like as they say but if it walks like a duck, quacks like one, and doesn't turn into a Swan then its the duck, right? Hhmmm. Great show.

James Mcavoy, Really?
1 November 2021
All I can say is I'm glad IT'S over. Surely someone missed the genre of comedy when rating this horror. Absolute garbage. Can't believe Mcavoy put his name to this. I prefer watching him in cheesy aftershave adverts than this tosh.

Diabolical.
24 October 2021
Diabolical. That's it. Diabolical. One of the worst films I have ever had the misfortune to endure. The "French" accent on the lodger is unfortunate enough but that's the least of this films problems, of which, the main one being, is that it was ever made.
