Better than expected!
11 June 2004
I went into this film expecting a disaster, as most critics would lead you to believe, however I was rather pleased with what I saw.

Riddick is a two hour sci-fi action movie, that doesn't try to be anything else. The effects were great, the Necromonger arrival was the stand out special effects moment for me. Fans of Pitch Black will enjoy this movie a lot, it was cool to see Riddick in his prison environment and see all the things that were only talked about in Pitch Black.

I don't really see why all the reviews are so bad, things like the music or dialogue are not really all that bad, I think to many people are going in expecting Hamlet and getting Flash Gordon, which is what this movie is supposed to be like anyway.

My only negative is that Dame Judy Dench seems wasted in this movie, and her screen time is mostly unimportant dialogue. And I feel like the movie was a little choppy, maybe to cut the film to PG-13, but I expect a director's cut DVD to hit the shelves around Christmas, and I'll definitely pick it up.

Over all, Riddick is a great summer action movie that delivers what you expect to see from a big budget summer blockbuster. Its a fun movie that I would recommend to fans of the genre. **1/2 out of ****

Pumping Iron (1977)
10/10
Unbelievable!!
21 October 2002
I first saw this movie my freshmen year of high school, and after the first ten minutes of the movie I was sucked into a strange, new, world...And I liked it. This film is great, it has all the makings of a great movie (Arnold is a great heel) but yet it is a documentary. Pumping Iron takes you backstage, into the gyms, and into the mind of the competitors. The only weak part of the film is the focus on Mike Katz going for the amateur Mr. Universe, however Ken Waller shines in this part. Also look for the future Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno as the new up-and-coming bodybuilder. I cannot praise this movie enough, its changed my life. I watch this movie all the time, I've read Arnold's Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding, and am training to be a bodybuilder. This movie is great for anyone looking for inspiration! 10 out of 10

Van Wilder (2002)

I Laughed so hard it HURT!!

Oh my, Van Wilder is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. If you liked American Pie, You will more than love Van Wilder. Ryan Reynolds is great as the title character and he has great timing on screen. And then there is Tara Reid, enough said. Also, look for a few seventies and eighties college/high school movie actors that appear in the movie. There are many memorable scenes that you and your friends will be talking about for a long time. I was laughing in tears a few times during this movie. What are you doing still reading this, check the showtimes and go!!! LET WILDER STAY!!!
