Haunted Mansion (2023)
fun silly goofy
Sure it's no cinematic masterpiece that also is a deep commentary on society, but it's a really fun movie!! That's worth watching for fun!!! I laughed so hard at some parts and a lot of the grief talk made me tear up a little. The running theme about signs from loved ones that have passed absolutely stabbed me straight through the heart.
I love that none of the characters felt like THE comedic relief because they were all funny and had their moments! And everyone immediately noping out and being dragged back fixes an issue I have with other similar movies which is "JUST LEAVE"
Maybe I'm biased because I'm a huge fan of ghosts and the Haunted Mansion ride is one of my favorites, but I honestly don't get the hate this movie got.
Wendell & Wild (2022)
Too much in too little time
This movie is absolutely gorgeous and the story is so interesting but I can't help but feel it would work so much better as a limited series. Theres too much worldbuilding and too many stories to introduce and wrap up in less than two hours. I LOVE all these things don't get me wrong, but there are a few hints at story lines that don't really amount to anything satisfactory because we dont have enough time with them. Like what's the story with Sister Helley? Where'd the bear come from and what happened to it afterward? There are so many characters that Kat is the only one that feels really fleshed out, the others lack the screen time for the viewer to get to know them. I love love love this movie, but its should've been a couple episodes (Maya and the Three comes to mind as far as structure) instead.
Inside Out (2015)
Made me cry
I love this movie so much and broke down sobbing when Riley came back home. The control board completely shutting down is the perfect way to visualize how Riley is feeling in that moment and I could relate! This movie is an amazing way to help kids understand and communicate complicated emotions and is overall a funny and heartwarming family movie.
Mr. Peabody & Sherman (2014)
One of my all time favorite movies
Maybe I'm blinded by nostalgia but I love this movie so much. It's surprisingly heartwarming and funny despite the strange premise, and it isn't so childish that older kids and adults can't enjoy it.
Mune : Le Gardien de la Lune (2014)
Love it!!
It's got an original plot, and the character designs and animation are just GORGEOUS!!
Coco (2017)
I cried a lot
It's a fun movie but of course in true Pixar fashion I couldn't make it out of the theater without sobbing my eyes out.
Gnome Alone (2017)
It's cute
As far as random animated movies go this one isn't bad. It goes along with the "new girl joins mean girl friend group" trope but I didn't hate it. It's great if you're just looking for something to play in the background or keep kids attention, and it's entertaining enough if you're looking for something on Netflix to cure boredom.
Johnny Test (2021)
Fine for little kids I guess
Episode one is a fortnite parody and doesn't do that great a job reintroducing everyone. I couldn't bring myself to watch any more of it. I'm sure it's fun for younger kids just not for me.
Luca (2021)
my favorite Pixar movie!!
I'm not exaggerating when I say I've seen this movie 12+ times, I love it! It's a funny adorably charming film about childhood and it's my go to movie to have on in the background while I'm working (I've practically memorized most of it)
