Had potential but wasted it
22 May 2020
I was excited to see this movie for quite some time and boy...was I let down. The movie completely relies on jump scares. Nothing else. Even the main performance was a disappointment, though he wasn't given much to work with. The most disappointing part of this movie was the ending. Or lack there of. It abruptly ends explaining nothing. Save your money. Wait for Netflix.

Sequel that doesn't beat the original but still fun
22 May 2020
Yeah, this is a throwaway thriller from back in the days but it aged well. Murphy makes this movie work. His intensity and high- level acting pushes what should have been an average action/comedy sequel over the top.

Would I not recommend hunting this film down just to watch it but if it was on television and you had nothing better to do, it is a relatively good waste of time. 7/10.

I Dont Understand...
22 May 2020
I miss the days when thrillers had simple plot, but relied on well made suspense and unpredictability. This is a high class thriller. The cast is let down by an uninspired script that too often throws out forced humor, and direction that is extremely slow. An action-packed finale is definitely the film's highpoint, but it still falls short in comparison

Entertaining, but the plot is paper thin
22 May 2020
The cast is game as usual, but they're let down by an uninspired script that too often throws out forced humor, and direction that is extremely slow. An action-packed finale is definitely the film's highpoint, but it still falls short in comparison.

As far as entertainment goes, this is good. But if you are the sort of person who enjoys a film with a well thought out and coherent plot then this may come as a disappointment. I gave it 4/10 purely for its entertainment value.

Not the best of trilogy but still solid entry
22 May 2020
Mel Gibson is incredible in the lead, with strong supporting cast. The film stretches credibility, but Howard has made a solid thriller. Howard has a varied career and this one of the better thrillers he has directed.

The film didn't need to be this strong and it's refreshing that the film has not aged terribly. Strong cast and thrilling until its frightening conclusion. Not the best of trilogy but still solid entry.

Die Hard 2 (1990)

Die much much HARDER!!!
22 May 2020
Bruce Willis stills gives credence to the character that he made famous. Returning from the first movie, Bonnie Bedlia as his wife, Holly, and William Atherton as the arrogant TV reporter, Richard Thornburg give us a bird's eye view of the terrorist attack from the skies, but that sub plot seemed to drag down the movie a little for me. Good performances were given by Art Evans playing Leslie Barnes and by Republican presidential nominee Fred Thompson as Trudeau, the man running Dulles Airport. However, William Sadler gave a weak performance as the movie's protagonist, and he kind of makes you wish that John McClane had not killed Hans Gruber in the first one.

So, Die Hard 2: Die Harder did little to recapture the power that the first in the series seemed to sweat out of ever pour. It was basically the same movie with a slight twist in situation to make it feel fresh. Still, this is a Die Hard movie, and it gives us enough humor and action packed adventure to leave us satisfied after the whole experience is over. Unlike so many sequels that, back in the eighties and early nineties, seemed tired and useless except to bring the overall feel of the first movie down, Die Hard 2: Die Harder is worth the 124 minutes to catch up with an old friend.

Not my favorite of the film but Top 3 for sure!

Underlooked at lil gem
22 May 2020
Mel Gibson is today, both as an actor and a director, mainly associated with serious films, but in the early nineties there was a lighter side to him, and "Bird on a Wire" is an example of this aspect of his work, if not the best. (That was probably "Maverick"). Gibson makes a likable hero, and combines together well with Hawn, while director John Badham comes up with some exciting action scenes. The film as a whole is an enjoyable if undemanding light thriller. Check it out if you can!

Payback (I) (1999)

Peak Gibson still holds up
22 May 2020
Payback is a mean and violent movie, it is unrelenting in its willingness to keep nastiness at the top of the story. The film is full of flawed and vile people, even Porter himself, the closest we have to a (anti) hero has badness coursing through his veins, he is a dislikable killer, the film is about exactly what the tag-line suggests, Get Ready To Root For The Bad Guy! As Porter trawls through this part of Chicago, he will come across bent coppers, drug pushers/addicts/runners, Asian gangsters, prostitutes, violence fetishists and the slimy chain of command of the Chicago mob. Nobody here is about to cheer you up.

So forgettable don't bother
22 May 2020
Ow did he know who they were? Where they were? Know their every move? Know their names? Kidnap Charlotte (who was going a totally different direction) then catch up to the main characters? Did they give him their itinerary? I guess they had a special CB/GPS device. I could go on but there shouldn't be any need. Too bad writers/directors don't just say "we made this for naive people who will be frightened by loud noises and be oblivious to illogical plots". Don't waste your money or your time.

Early JJ isn't as bad as people think
22 May 2020
This is a gem looking back on JJ's career. What is special to me about this film is that Harrison Ford plays the character rather well. I am an emergency physician, and I know that a gun shot wound to the head, if survivable, is fraught with life changing effects. However, this is NOT the point of the movie. Worth checking out!

Enjoyable Thriller
22 May 2020
The story might move slowly, but it's still well developed and ratchets up the suspense well. What really stands out to me is the cinematography and the score. the dark cinematography actually helps the audience to feel the dark and tense tone of the movie. and the score complete some moments at the movie.

The ending is simple, and actually predictable, but left me satisfied.

I really recommend the movie, if you're looking for an enjoyable thriller. but, if you're looking for a pure action, i actually don't recommend you since this movie is actually far from that.

Tense and well shot
9 December 2019
This surprised me. Didn't know a simple concept could keep me on the edge. The hospital was well shot and there was only a couple gory scenes.... when Madison had to perform surgery to remove her own bullet(ouch). Otherwise it's mostly some horror/chase sequences and couple fight scenes. Honestly was a little too predictable in the end and too short.
