Dempsey and Makepeace (1985–1986)
The best 80's show
10 September 2001
I used to love this show as a kid and recently I've been re-watching some of it and I still think it's as good as I used to.

Micheal Brandon and Glynis Barber are great as James Dempsey and Harry Makepeace. The chemistry is amazing and because it was real all the more interesting to watch.

It's a shame that they only made 3 seasons - although its great to re-watch them all again.

My only complaint is that they never got together romatically and I think that they should have.

Watch this funky movie!

I really liked this movie. A great fun, enjoyable movie that isn't trying to be anything else.

This is a funny and very enjoyable movie with a distinctly 80's feel from Ivan Reitman. The cast are all excellent with David Duchovny proving that he is very much capable of doing comedy (as regular viewers of "The X Files" will already know), Orlando Jones was great too, a new name to me and probably most people in the UK too! David and Orlando made a great and very funny comic duo and I'd love to see them work together again.

Seann William Scott was also cool, playing a role that we've seen him play before but that didn't stop him being funny! Julianne Moore was great too, playing against type - although she has done comedy before she isn't well know for it.

The script was cool - ridiculous but in a wonderful way and the direction was good too.

I definitely recommend this! Just sit down, relax and enjoy the ride!

The X-Files Game (1998 Video Game)
Wonderful game
5 April 2001
I've never really been a fan of computer games but being a long time X Phile I thought I would give it a go and I was amazed. This game is excellently made and unbelievably addictive. Featuring appearance by David and Gillian and a wonderful performance by Jordan Lee Williams as Agent Craig Willmore, the agent investigating the disappearance of Agents Mulder and Scully. Once you start playing you wont stop until you solve it.

The X-Files (1993–2018)
The best show, ever.
5 April 2001
This show will go down in history as one of the best TV shows ever.

Back in 1993 Chris Carter had an idea (Two FBI Agents investigate paranormal/unexplained cases, one a skeptic the other a believer), unknown to him and everyone else this was the best idea in TV history - it was completely original and intelligent and just what TV in the early nineties needed, add to that the great acting abilities of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the wonderful writing talents of Chris himself, James Wong, Glen Morgan, Vince Gilligan and many others and some excellent directing from Kim Manners, Rob Bowman, Chris himself and too many others for me to list here and the you have the ingredients for the most visually stunning, wonderfully acted and written 45 minutes of TV I've ever had the pleasure to watch.

Still as good as ever after 7 seasons.

THE definitive '80's movie.

"They only met once but it changed their lives forever"

Yet another wonderfully angsty teen movie from the master of the genre, possibly John Hughes' best although "Somekind Of Wonderful" and "Ferris Beuller's.." are both great. The plot is simple yet effective (5 different kids have to spent saturday detention together, a brain, a basket case, a jock, a princess and a criminal). The cast are excellent, a stand out being Judd Nelson as the wonderfully sarcastic and wise-cracking John Bender. This movie has to been seen when you are a teenager or it won't have the same impact. Check your mind at the door and enjoy!

Quincy M.E. (1976–1983)
They don't make shows like this anymore...

..."Thank God" some people might say, I am not one of these people. This is one of the best shows of this kind (second only to the brilliant "Columbo"). Jack Klugman was unforgettable as the intense and often angry Dr Quincy and he was brilliantly supported by Robert Ito as the idealistic Sam, John S. Ragin as the by-the-book Dr Asten and Garry Walberg as Lt Monahan. Occasionally hammy but always enjoyable.

It took George Lucas 17 years to come up with this??
22 March 2001
It takes one hell of a script to make great actors like Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson look bad but somehow this film managed it. There was no plot to speak of and where was the characterization? OK, so they saved the world at the end but I really didn't care and Darth Maul was a boring villain - he wasn't even scary, bring back Darth Vader. The movie looked great but in the end it was a triumph of style over substance. An insult to the original trilogy.

Neat little sci-fi with more than a hint of human interest
21 March 2001
When I went to the cinema to see this I fairly apprehensive (The reviews I'd read weren't that great), but the story was interesting to me(guy contacts his dead father through an old CB radio) so I ignored the reviews and went anyway. I was pleasantly surprised, I came out with a big smile on my face and since then I've recommended it to everyone and this review isn't an exception. The acting was first class - Jim Caviezel was a new face and name to me and I thought he was excellent and I'd never really been a fan of Dennis Quaid but this film changed all that. It has a very smart script and you have to pay attention but I think everyone with a small interest in sci-fi will love it - I did.

Return to Me (2000)
All feel-good movies should be like this.

RTM is a lovely film. Sweet without being too sweet, funny without being too funny. Great acting from David Duchovny and Minnie Driver - great chemistry.

Excellent supporting cast, also, James Belushi, David Alan Grier, Robert Loggia, Carrol O'Connor and Bonnie Hunt working as actress, director and co-writer. Nice romantic-comedy, go see it.

The X Files (1998)
Just like the show - great!
21 March 2001
I've seen this movie a few times now and on first viewing I wasn't that impressed but after repeated viewings I must recommend it to anyone - even if you're not a big fan of the show. Great story, great direction and, last but not least, great acting especially from David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson but also the supporting cast members (Martin Landau, Armin Mueller Stahl).
