Movie 43 (2013)

Hit or miss sketch comedy
17 December 2023
When discussing this movie, there seems to be two trains of thought. Either it's an affront to cinema as a whole, or everyone who doesn't like it is a sensitive prude. So when I sat down to watch it, I was expecting something truly outrageous. But in my honest opinion, it was just ok.

A few sketches were laugh riots, others were mildly amusing, some started out funny but lost steam, and some were just plain bad. A lot of the humor comes from getting A-list actors to do some pretty lowbrow and gross things. And I watched the movie twice due to the different framing devices, I gotta say the ones with the teens is funnier.

Overall though, while I don't regret watching this, I wouldn't actively seek it out either. It's a pretty silly, raunchy, dirty comedy that doesn't make sense at times, and I like that it takes pride in that. But as much as I like the idea of it, too many jokes and scenes fall flat, so I gotta give it a 5/10.

An alright reboot
14 October 2023
Other than a few modern references the humor and overall style is unchanged from the original show. And just like the original show, it's a bit hit of miss. Some episodes are laugh riots, some episodes are a bit boring, and others can be a little cruel. Unfortunately, this show has been review bombed like heck cause an episode tackled an uncomfortable topic and people got offended. Seriously, in the age of Family Guy, South Park, and Big Mouth, how soft do you have to be to get offended by The Proud Family? It's truly unfair and does not accurate reflect the quality at all. I would give a 7/10 but due to this circumstance I gave it an 8, because it's unfair how this show got targeted due to some crybabies getting their feelings hurt.

Very Entertaining
15 April 2021
Jon is firm but usually fair, and there's plenty of great advice on running a bar. Some episodes are wild and raunchy, while others are borderline tearjerkers. My only beef is occasionally Jon goes too far with the remodel and strips the bars of their characters, making it all generic and hipster-like. They usually knock it out the park though. But overall, this is a good time waster and it'll definitely keep you hooked.

Decent
26 February 2021
Tom & Jerry were in top form here, and the chases were fun and original. Loved the soundtrack too. But I didn't really care for the human characters or the hotel problems. All in all it's not the best of T&J, but definitely worth a watch.

It's alright
25 January 2021
Not as bad as the trailer made it out to be, but still not that good either. You really have to forget about the kids version of the show to enjoy this. That aside, the storyline is actually great, but the dialogue can be very clumsy at times, and the actors fall short occasionally. They should just focus more on storytelling and tweak the script instead of forced edginess.

Skip this one
24 January 2021
The characters don't act like how they did in the comic books or former television shows, the dialogue is very unnatural and wooden. Acting is good, great in some scenes, but not enough to save this hackneyed writing. Feels like someone was too excited to make an edgy version of Teen Titans and in the process, forgot everything that makes a good story.

Great Episode

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was fantastic. The plot was pretty strong, and pretty much all the jokes landed. Loved Brian acting like a cat and seeing Peter actually become somewhat emotional over the Giant Chicken dying. Felt like something out of Season 4, and I hope they keep up with episodes like this.

Awful

No good jokes just yelling and "dudebro" humor. You want crude no-bounds adult comedy done right? Watch Drawn Together, not this trash.

Fun Show
5 December 2020
The first few episodes are basically "Medieval Robot Chicken" but it quickly finds its' own groove. It's a funny series with pretty interesting stories and a charm art style to boot. The last three episodes in particular are brilliant, and the main characters actually grow throughout. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's great popcorn entertainment .

I enjoyed it
5 November 2020
This is was a great special, especially Toy Gory. Lots of great gags and the plots were more "scary" than usual. And stop whining about politics, Simpsons was always political. The opening was great satire IMO.

It's a solid episode
3 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode wasn't as great as it could've been, but it was still a fun ride. There were some good jokes, and I appreciated seeing cutaways from the older seasons but with updated animation. Peter and Lois were also great in this episode, glad they didn't resort to all the played out "dying marriage" jokes. They could've done more with the plot, but it was still good as is.

Certified Hood Classic

This film shines some light on some of the struggles women face in the world of stripping and was ahead of its time. Only problems were the transitions from the comedic to serious parts were a bit rough and some clumsy dialogue, but overall it's all good.

Funny, Weird, and Thought Provoking
26 July 2020
Even though one reviewer says it's "not meant for sober people", there's a lot to take away from this show without getting high. The sketches are creative, funny, and reflect society in a crazy, abstract way. It feels like an Adult Swim show with a slightly higher budget, and is a lot smarter than people give it credit for.

Ruined a perfect trilogy
20 July 2020
This movie was very depressing and didn't have that many memorable scenes or jokes. The characters also acted a bit off. They should've just left Toy Story alone. Not many movies can make a perfect trilogy, let alone a decent sequel, but there was a lot of hear, magic, and fun, that made the Toy Story franchise stand out. Wish I could say it for this one too. Sorry.

Alright episode ode

Interesting premise, and overall the story had a lot of suspense. It was somewhat predictable but still enjoyable at the same time. The protagonist was a bit annoying and seemed like a nuisance though.

F Is for Family (2015–2021)
3/10
Not that good
26 May 2020
This is pretty much your average dysfunctional family sitcom, but with a few things changed:

1. More depressing. I can tell they wanted the show to come off more realistic than other shows in this genre, but the delivery was off, and it made the show depressing to watch, not in the good BoJack Horseman way either.

2. The swearing and sex jokes are amped up 200 percent to guarantee that sweet Netflix TV-MA rating. They cannot go a sentence without saying "G**damn". Not a prude, but that kinda stuff gets repetitive. Even South Park understands that.

3. I will say the 70's angle adds a little flavor to the show, and I appreciate how the father is strong and smart instead of a dumbass.

This show isn't all bad, there's some good jokes sprinkled here and there, but it just falls flat. The characters are all jerks towards each other. When the family has those caring moments, it doesn't feel genuine. Honestly, it comes across as a bland drama rather than a sitcom. There's a lot of potential for this show to be a great slice of life show like King of the Hill, but the characters and writing need major adjustments.

Black-ish (2014–2022)

A thoughtful, intelligent, funny sitcom
8 January 2020
Black-ish is one of the few shows left on TV that make you laugh and think at the same time. It touches on racial topics, as well as general life grievances that we notice but don't talk about. One thing I noticed is that they made the father, Andre, funny without making him dumb, a common trap that most sitcoms fall into. The later seasons have suffered a mild decline, but the show still holds up well today. And you can tell the network is making them suppress certain topics, they should move it to Netflix so they can express their ideas uncensored.

Great Cartoon! Wish it was still on air
8 January 2020
Drawn Together is one of the best adult cartoons out there. The plots are unpredictable, creative, and hilarious. Early on, it was a reality show parody, but after the first season, that premise takes a backseat to just generally crazy adventures. This show catches flack for touching on some mature and dark topics, but a lot of the "offensive" jokes are actually witty, clever, and placed at exactly at right time. Basically, the shock humor felt like it served a purpose. The third season has a mild decline in quality, but overall, this is a brilliant cartoon.

Not too funny, but the third season is an improvement.
8 January 2020
Basically, this show is "edgy". They attempt dark humor by having episodes and jokes about racism, sex, etc...but it comes across very dry and bland. I like dark humor, but you can't forget the "humor" part of it. Like another reviewer said, they basically hold up a sign with a crazy topic and expect laughs without making a joke or being satirical about it. This show would easily be a 1/10, but...

The third season was a major improvement. The characters felt like actual people rather than edgy joke machines, and the plots became stronger. Although the subject matter was still the same, the dark humor worked better because it felt like it had some foundation to it. Overall, the show was sharper, and honestly, if it kept going, I could see it improving even further.

Good Show about College
8 January 2020
Although it's pretty raunchy, this show actually has some good lessons about college, friendships, and keeping your head straight in the midst of challenges. Some episodes are hilarious, while others can be quite dramatic, but the show pulls off both styles well. My only problem with it is that some episodes feel rushed, and the characters sometimes do things that make no logical sense whatsoever.

Repetitive and not that funny
21 December 2019
Basically, 80 percent of this show is just putting kiddie characters in adult situations. The other 20, they "parody" popular shows and movies. By "parody", they pretty much re-create the scenes almost verbatim, but turn the original characters into self-aware. The first season is actually kinda funny, but after that they just do the same jokes over and over again.

I like this show
21 December 2019
It's very funny and it doesn't moralize like other sitcoms. It also feels very "real", like I could see myself or some of my friends in some of the episodes. I would give a 10/10, but some of these reviews are so pretentious. It's possible to like "low-brow" sitcoms AND Seinfeld at the same time, I don't know how a show so down-to-earth attracted so many snobs. But either way, it's a great comedy with a lot of classic scenes and quotable, and I'm glad I discovered it.

Joker (I) (2019)

WTF? I wanted my money back
21 December 2019
This is some edgelord BS. The only reason people praise it is because it defies "Superhero/Supervillian" norms and has an R Rating. If you put it beside some real art and psychological films, it wouldn't even stand a chance. Everything is so surface level yet people act like they're "deep" for getting it. The dancing seems thrown in to give the film an "artsy" edge. I could tell that certain scenes were supposed to be haunting, but they came across as very dry and bland. There's a lot of incel-ish and "edgy" dialogue throughout too, and none of it sounds profound. It's pretty much the same old stuff about mental ills, "society" and, "the rich", and it's not presented in a new way at all. People just went crazy over it because Joker was involved.

Basically, this is an incredibly generic psychological drama with scenes of violence thrown in every 15-20 minutes to "shock". It only deserves one star, but I gave an extra one because there are a few dark comedy bits that I liked. In no way does this compare to Heath Ledger, he brought a certain nuance and charm to the Joker that this film does not have.
