Cold Comfort Farm (1968– )
In defense of the 1971 TV version
27 January 2003
I agree that the film version is far superior to the TV version, but when I saw Cold Comfort Farm in 1971 I loved it. Then I discovered the novel, read it, and immediately bought copies for all of my friends. I had to drive almost 100 miles to see the movie, and it was worth it. The movie is better than the old TV version, but the book is much, much better than the movie. I will always be grateful to Masterpiece Theater for introducing me to this treasure.

Frank's Place (1987–1988)
One of the (if not THE) best shows on TV
16 November 2002
Frank's Place was loved by both viewers and critics. Too bad sponsors and networks were too jittery about black people as they really are and not as stereotypes. The episode where the "guys" take Ed's body from the funeral home for a night on the town is the funniest ever shown on TV. Even Lucy and Ethel would vote it the best.

A haunting, a murder, a beautiful woman just not enough.
16 June 2002
A big Harrison Ford fan as well as an aficionada of psychological horror, I was very disappointed in this very slow film. Early on I figured out "whodunnit". When it was disclosed who it was "dun" to, I knew why and how. Even the supposedly suspenseful ending was unsatisfactory as the viewer knew ahead of time what would happen in each sequence. And the makers had the gall to compare it to Hitchcock.

A memorable movie.
21 October 2001
I first saw this movie in 1946 when I was only 12 years old, and even though I have not seen it since I remember it vividly. I don't know now what made such an impression on me, but I loved it then and can't wait to see it again. It was my first sight of Leo Genn and he has remained a favorite ever since.

Bagdad Cafe (1987)
Why this is my favorite film
17 July 2001
Bagdad Cafe leaves me with a warm feeling every time I watch it. The beginning of the film would have turned me off, but circumstances forced me to watch all of it. Thank goodness. I now watch it about once every other month, but when I first bought the video I watched it over and over. It is the ultimate "friendship movie".
