Blue Lights (2023)
Realistic
If you live in Northern Ireland the chances are you will understand the series a bit more than those who don't. This series certainly has a few flaws but the majority overcomes these circumstances that we have come through.
I think that the producers etc come out of this pretty well, the reality of "you do what we tell you to do " regarding paramilitaries was spot on. The fear that was drummed into youths on both sides was also very well presented. The program itself always keeps you in suspense, personally I couldn't wait to watch the next episode . I was totally immersed in the whole series and found it disturbing yet I couldn't wait for the next episode.
To Leslie (2022)
Sad, beautiful and inspiring
I write very few reviews but after watching this movie I would like to share my thoughts. At the minute I am wiping tears from my eyes. This movie has reached into my heart in a way that I've never experienced before. It's like someone has written my life story and at this moment I look back at my disasters and where they have taken to me. The emotions that this movie produces take you into a dark place and lead you into the light at the same time. The sadness, the beauty and the reality of life are set down at the table and the menu is perfect. It made me feel normal again, it took away the guilt that I carry.
The Last of Us (2023)
The first 4 episodes were good
After watching the first 4 episodes I was hooked, but from series 5 onwards this show went downhill at a slow pace. It was very predictable and the characters became boring and static . I stuck with it to the end hoping that a spark would ignite it , but it was more unbelievable as it went on . I was hoping that the series was going to have an ending as I couldn't see how this series could be dragged out for another one.
On the positive side there were some parts that resonated with humanity and the need to destroy evil in the world by being more evil, the big let down was that it all ended in a draw.
The Secret (2016)
This happened where I live
The first time I watched this I was pretty disappointed and found it to be average enough but on watching it a 2nd time I was drawn back into the murders that were committed in my local area.
The church tried to keep this silent for quite a while and the "respectability of Howell" and his upright standing in the Baptist church was based on the fear that the church would look bad under the circumstances.
Hazel Stewart certainly was not manipulated and was a willing accomplish with Howell.
The series itself was pretty true to the facts and Nesbitt played the part pretty well.
The second time I watched it I was captivated and shocked at the coldness and depravity of the way that the 2 murders calmly went about their daily lives inside and outside of the church.
I Came By (2022)
No surprises
I'm not sure why I watched it until the end. , a waste of a Thursday evening. I was hopeful after the 1st 20 minutes but it burnt out slowly like a candle. The characters resembled wooden soldiers on a burnt out battlefield. The characters became more unbelievable by the minute, the ending was obvious after 30 mins.
The actors did not connect with this viewer, there wasn't one character who was believable . The camera work was disjointed and the background soundtrack did not offer any suspense or audience reaction.
To call it trash would be an insult to trash. Netflix seemed to have dropped their standards dramatically over the past couple of years and this must be the pinnacle of their demise.
