Aimy in a Cage (2015)
Apocalypse Gen Z
A film of contradictions. The music is upbeat and cheery. The content of a deadly plague gradually kills everyone. The colors are bright and vivid. The emotions, bleak and extreme. Is it a feminist and political 'woke' film? Sort of. But then again, everyone is a villain, even our protagonist. It's more Kafka-esque in that regard. Sometimes it's fast. Sometimes it's slow. The faster it gets, the slower it gets, the faster it gets. I have never seen anything like it. The ending? It can only end in complete and total random madness.
Bad Boys for Life (2020)
You know what's eerie about all these reboots.
We put these away long ago. They fizzled and dissipated into memory. Culture changed and wore on. But then years and years later they pop right back up and we pretend time hasn't budged an inch. But it's all wrong. It feels faint. False. Hopeless. I don't know how to put the words to it, like they're trying too hard not to grow up, that they should have stayed in their time and place. Like, give it up to the new kids, it's their turn.
The Gentlemen (2019)
Fun but slight
Saw this in cinema, it was mildly amusing, nothing special and way overrated. I imagine it's being way over rated due to the white male privilege on display. Doesn't matter what they do as long as it's cool overdressed photogenic dudes doing criminal junk. Because this script is so barebones there's no way it would pass otherwise. Shrug. It was fine.
