Assassin Club (2023)
Just awful.
This has got to be one of the worst films of recent years. An absolutely incomprehensible plot line, awful acting and too many hacky action film cliches to count.
The cast is pretty respectable on paper, Noomi Rapace, Sam Neil, Henry Goulding. They should all immediately sack their agents for getting them involved in this absolute turd of a film.
The story line flips all over the place, with so many holes in it that it makes zero sense and the script is so corny it makes you cringe.
In some cases an average movie can be lifted by good action set pieces, but even those were average and all stuff that's been done a million times before.
In conclusion, this film has zero redeeming features, don't waste your time on it.
The Office (2005)
Brilliant, until the last couple of seasons.
I loved the office, it was a groundbreaking, original and laugh out loud funny. There are great performances from a great cast - until the back end of season 8. The original cast, under the leadership of Steve Carell, were outstanding, and Ed Helms and Ellie Kemper proved to be fantastic additions to the core cast. Unfortunately Catherine Tate was absolutely awful, as was James Spader. Neither of them added anything to the show, and, for me anyway, made the show absolutely cringeworthy. I soldiered on until the end, which was redeemed by the appearance of Carell in the finale, but I think it was definitely time to kill the show as it had run its course.
The Witcher (2019)
Started well, but went downhill fast.
Having no previous knowledge of the Witcher (having never played the games) I loved the first season, and if I were marking that alone it would have been a solid 9 - but boy did it go downhill after that.
The second season was definitely a backward step, with a poor, hard to follow plot.
The third season really is a load of nonsense. A combination of poor writing, an awful plot with huge holes that makes it very hard to understand what's going on and why, and moments where you just cringe at how bad it is.
No wonder Henry Cavill wanted to leave. It's such a shame after such a good first season.
