Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
A Beautiful Sequel
When this film came on the TV, I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as the original films, however this film was an absolute delight which honours the originals incredibly well.
The new characters are fleshed out & the story works into the Ghostbusters world so well.
The use of modern technology adds to the effect & gives incredibly realistic visuals, & there's some practical effects thrown in there too.
Overall, this film is an incredible sequel to the originals, not too much fan service (just enough), & that ending had me howling, no spoilers though, you'll just have to wait & see for yourself how beautiful it really is!
Barbie (2023)
The perfect tribute to Barbie!
I'm a huge fan of Barbie, so when I heard there was a movie coming out, I was beyond excited & I certainly wasn't disappointed when I got to see it!
The cast are incredible & all seem to bounce off of each other, the story was funny but also heartwarming at the same time, and the attention to detail was marvellous, in true Barbie fashion.
One thing I really enjoyed was how it managed to pay tribute to so many different variations of Barbie, shout out to Weird Barbie! (We all had a weird Barbie!)
Overall the film was truly a pleasure to watch & I just wish I could go to Barbie-Land, someone get me some Rollerblades please?
Raising Hope (2010)
Underrated & Hilarious!
I never thought I'd watch this show to be honest, but I was hooked after the first episode!
It's absolutely hilarious!
The show is cleverly written, the cast is perfect, & the plots for each episode seem original somehow. I'm currently on the 3rd season & the comedy hasn't become stale at all.
Each character has their own personality & is fleshed out so well, & while there is some stupidity involved, it doesn't feel like it is in other shows.
Raising Hope has very quickly become one of my favourite TV shows, & overall it has me laughing out loud with every episode, it's well worth a watch if you need a good laugh!
The Big Bang Theory (2007)
Not as good as I thought!
Initially, I really did enjoy the series, I felt like I could relate to the characters, & enjoyed some of the storylines they were involved with.
However, the more I watched it, the more annoying I found it!
Science jokes aren't for everyone & I understand that, but it just got so annoying the more I watched it.
It actually got to the point that I couldn't bare watching it anymore, it takes a special kind of TV show to put you off!
Maybe it's because after a while I couldn't relate to it? Maybe it was above my intellectual level? I don't know, all I know is I never want to watch it again...
Superstore (2015)
Hilarious!
I started watching this show thinking it would be a comedy that was trying too hard, I WAS SO WRONG!
The characters all have their part to play & deliver comedy perfectly. The setting of a US superstore is genius, & how it was filmed is just as clever!
Whilst the characters are funny, I also felt like I could relate to them & felt emotionally invested when they had a story.
Some of the funniest moments come from the customers in the store, doing the most random of things, gets me every single time.
Overall, it's a solid comedy, & I believe it is very underrated. If you're in need of a good laugh, this is the show to watch, trust me!
Ten Pound Poms (2023)
Better than expected!
I thought this series was going to be like other period dramas, however I was pleasantly surprised!
It features a great set of characters all cast perfectly, & each character seems to have their own plot, which drives the series forward in a fast paced way.
Props to Michelle Keegan who plays Kate, she has an incredibly emotional story to play out which she does remarkablly well. I have to say she was probably my favourite character.
It does have some stereotypical storylines which you'd expect, however due to the character's circumstances managed to make them feel interesting & new.
I honestly couldn't help myself & had to binge watch the whole series!
Encanto (2021)
It was fun, but certainly not perfect!
After all of the hype I finally watched Encanto, which I found to be a fun, bright & colourful film, but I also felt like there was something missing.
As always with Disney, the animation & music was outstanding, the story was interesting & kept you wanting more, it was just some of the characters & jokes that ruined it for me.
The film is sprinkled with little jokes which I didn't find completely necessary, & there were a-couple of characters that I couldn't work out if they were good or bad. Even when they tried to redeem those characters I still didn't feel anything for them.
Overall though, it was a decent film that I found to be fun & intriguing. It was just certain characters & jokes that seemed to let the side down.
Strange World (2022)
It was alright...
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this film to some degree, but you just know that Disney can do so much better!
Let's get one thing straight, the animation & visuals on this film were outstanding, I just wish I could say the same for the story & it's characters.
The story wasn't overly clear, & it felt somewhat rushed & sprinkled with moments that didn't really add much if that makes sense?
The characters weren't completely bad, but they weren't exactly likeable either, my favourite character is literally called "Splat", & yes it's literally a blue splat.
Overall, this film had so much potential, but it just felt like a let down by the end.
Bros (2022)
Much better than I expected!
I'll be honest, I was excited to watch this movie, but I was also scared it was going to be a train crash!
I was pleasantly surprised by the whole thing, once the movie picked up pace it became a journey I had to see through until the end.
The characters were believable, & in my opinion well represented, they also had a surprising amount of depth, it's also worth noting how perfect the casting was, & how well represented the LGBTQ+ community was represented with it's casting.
As much as it focuses on present day gay culture, it also managed to find a way of focusing on queer history, which I greatly appreciate.
Whilst it was a fun movie to watch, it also had some moments that I felt we're cringey personally, but that depends on your humour & your own story.
Overall, Bros was a fun & fresh movie, that had me rooting for it's characters, laughing, & most importantly, emotionally involved in their story.
Free Guy (2021)
An INCREDIBLE Film!
Whilst I didn't think it'd be my cup of tea, I was sorely mistaken!
This film has everything, a spectacular cast, an outstanding storyline, laugh out loud comedy, relevant references, & incredible special effects.
This has got to be my favourite film to be released in a long time, & I'm so glad I pressed play on Disney+.
Kim Possible (2019)
Not too shabby!
Kim Possible was one of my favourites when I was younger, & whenni first heard about this movie, I was VERY sceptical, but I think they pulled it off!
While it's not exactly the Kim Possible fans know & love, it's definitely an incredible effort, the characters are fun, the world is colourful, & the action was fantastic!
The storyline was rather predictable, but it's a film for kids mainly, & I'm sure any kid would love watching this film!
Overall, they've managed to bring Kim Possible's colourful cast of characters & vibrant world to life, while it lacked in certain aspects, it sure made up for it in others.
The Fundamentals of Caring (2016)
A bittersweet comedy!
This bittersweet comedy will leave you laughing, crying, & even questioning a-few things yourself.
The cast of characters sheds a light on the various problems people go through, with a roadtrip being the perfect plot to highlight them.
Overall, this film might not be a laugh out loud comedy, but, the deep sense of emotion,& simplicity of the comedy, will see you through these character's personal journeys.
Up (2009)
Pixar at its absolute finest!
This moving & very original story, will take you on a wild adventure, you never knew you needed!
With the iconic heart & soul of Pixar weaved into an action packed adventure, this film is quite simply a masterpiece, kids & adults alike will be crying, laughing & having the adventure of a lifetime, whilst watching this film.
One word, masterpiece.
Soul (2020)
Perfectly Pixar!
Whilst slow moving to begin with, this film is a feast for your senses, with beautiful & inventive visuals, & gorgeous music.
The story can be quite complicated, even for me as an adult, but once you understand, you'll never forget this outstanding film. This film is a must see, & is simply a Pixar masterpiece.
The Hustle (2019)
Not worth it!
While the premise of the film sounds like a fun one, the execution was far from it. Anne Hathaway & Rebel Wilson are great actresses in their own right, but this film simply wasn't their best. With rarely funny scenes, a lack of interesting content, anda plot that could have been made much better, this film quite simply was not worth the time I spent watching it, and I didn't even make it to the ending.
