Turning Red but worse
30 June 2023
The impression of watching this movie is that DreamWorks tried to make their own version of Turning Red, which ended up being something boring and generic.

The plot is generic and highly predictable. The first trailer basically sums up the entire movie and if you've watched it before, you'll know how each event will play out.

The jokes are bland and not funny. I tried to force myself to laugh at at least one of them and I couldn't. Basically I kept looking at the clock counting how much time was left for the movie to end because of how uninteresting it is. I may not be the target audience, but the kids I know would struggle to stay awake watching it.

Basically I'm only giving it a 5 for the animation itself, which is good, but I wanted DreamWorks to keep the stylized 2D like in 'The Bad Guys' and 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish'.

Good movie
27 June 2023
This movie is good. Nothing special but not a disaster either. There are no villains and the story is basically a cliché romance that many have seen in several other movies. However it's funny, the jokes are good and the plot is decent.

I believe the marketing failed to sell this movie. From the trailers, it seems that the movie is adventure-themed, a generic Zootopia with elements, but in fact, it's a romantic comedy. Something that was only hinted at in the first teaser, which is not even a scene in the movie.

For movies like these, I usually give a 7, but I'm giving this movie an 8 because I really liked the visuals of the characters and the environment. And watching it in 3D makes it even better, with elements much more vivid.

It's not Pixar's best animation by far, but better than its latest disasters for sure.

Fun and that's all
8 April 2023
If you only watch the movie with the intention of having fun, you will certainly have a good experience with Mario. However the plot is quite bland and the movie runs at a very fast pace between one scene and another, hampering the progress of the story.

Also, if you haven't played the Mario games, you'll fail immeasurably to pick up the game references that are scattered throughout the movie, and there are many of them. For anyone who's a Mario fan, this movie is literally fan service and it's no wonder why they're giving it a 10.

For me, this movie doesn't lived up to the hype, but for a Mario fan, it certainly did.

Very good

If you expect something with a heartfelt deep story and a moral lesson, then don't even bother watching. Minions: The Rise of Gru is a comedy movie, with the sole purpose of keeping kids entertained for 90 minutes and it fulfills that purpose perfectly. Anything beyond that is a bonus.

Amazingly, despite being a comedy movie aimed at children, it also has some dark scenes and the humor is also aimed at adults, so it's far from being a snoozefest for adults. It's a movie for people of all ages to watch and have a good laugh. Better than the first movie for sure.

Lightyear (2022)

Average
17 June 2022
From a Pixar movie, you always expect a masterpiece, but unfortunately Lightyear is not up to standard.

The plot is pretty average. There are no twists or anything interesting that makes you stay focused to understand. It's a generic sci-fi hero movie, where there's the hero, who everyone knows, and the villain, who everyone knows, and in the end, the hero defeats the villain. They could put any other character besides Buzz and nothing would change in the movie.

Other point, the humor is almost non-existent. I think I laughed lightly 2-3 times in the entire movie. The humor is reclusive to Sox and Buzz's clumsy gang, but it's not enough for a children's animation. I've laughed more watching movies that aren't even comedy.

A shame. Lightyear deserves a better, more original story. The impression is that it's not a movie that would make kids like Andy be fans of the main character.

Surprisingly good

This anime has all the ingredients that make a series perfect: It has humor, drama, action and suspense all together in the right measure. Best of all it is R rated so no content is moderated or censored to make it family friendly. Show the reality as it is.

Once you've seen the first episode, you'll hardly stop watching, as you'll always want to know what happens next.

Nice message, but poorly executed.
7 May 2022
Watching it for the first time, now I understand why it sparked a lot of controversy. I believe the intention was to shed light on the problem of early sexualization of children, and while it may not be a problem in the community where you live, it's a big problem in many societies.

However, apart from all the controversy, the movie is simply bad. Bland, terrible acting. This seems more like a bad advertising campaign than a movie made to show a problem in our society. The only culprits of those who didn't understand the message of the movie and think it's a movie aimed at pedophiles are the ones who made it.

Better than my expectations
29 April 2022
I have to admit that I had low expectations for this show. I believed it would be a cheap copy of Kung Fu Panda using Stan Saiki's characters.

Fortunately this was not the case. The animation is good considering the tiny budget, it's funny, the characters are well written and the plot is decent. My only disappointment was the fight and action scenes are kind of childish, compared to the original story which is very violent and brutal. I missed that in the show but I understand the desire to appeal to a younger audience.

To all the Yojimbo fans saying 'That's not the Usagi Yojimbo I know', remember that this is a spin-off series and doesn't necessarily have to be an accurate portrayal of the original stories. Also remember that Stan Saiki is deeply involved in the production of this show, so it's not just a generic show using a random ip. I can see Saiki's essence in it.

So instead of complaining, just put the nostalgia aside, enjoy the show as it is and be thankful that this show will surely help bring new fans to Usagi Yojimbo's fandom.

If you liked Kung Fu Panda, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this show. I look forward to Season 2 despite Netflix's struggles.

Fun
16 April 2022
I liked the movie. It's funny, the animation is very colorful and even brings a beautiful message about family.

I'm just not giving it a 10 because I think the movie was too fast paced for my taste and I also think the animators overused the 2D effects to the point of being too boring.

Anyway, it was worth the Oscar nomination and I recommend watching it.

Bland
16 April 2022
Honestly, I already liked movies that were obliterated by critics and I decided to give it a go.

I spent 90 minutes with a straight face. None of the jokes made me laugh. The action scenes are lame and the plot is weak and the animation is bland. It looks like they took several cutscenes from the game and put them together to make this movie. So I think it's more fun to play the game than to watch it.

Amazing movie
13 April 2022
Sonic 2 is a much more solid movie than 1. It's fun, full of action and adventure and also references to games that will please both kids and hardcore Sonic fans.

This movie just won't get a perfect 10 because in my opinion, some sequences, especially those involving only human characters, were unnecessary and also broke the pace of the movie for being slow. But luckily they didn't do much damage to the movie itself.

Sonic 2 is by far the best game adaptation ever made and it's unlikely to be surpassed, except for a sequel to it.

Amazing
1 April 2022
Sing 2 is one of those rare movies where 2 is better than 1.

I honestly didn't like Sing 1 and watched Sing 2 with zero expectations. However, the movie surprised me very positively. The animations, the story, the songs, everything fits perfectly into a funny movie, but at the same time it teaches you many lessons for life.

It's ok
31 March 2022
It's an ok movie. I didn't really like the story, but the animation is good and it's funny.

Far from being the worst Pixar movie, but it's also far from being the best. As some have said, it's forgettable.

Good animation
22 March 2022
I really enjoyed the movie. It's funny, the action scenes are very well done, the characters are charming, the dialogues are excellent and the animation style, in a mix of 2D and 3D, is the icing on the cake to complete an (almost) perfect animation.

'Almost' because the plot was pretty average. It's interesting and even brings a nice message, but I think it lacked a little more development, especially in making the movie more unpredictable. Halfway through the movie you already knew who the villain was and how the movie was going to end. They even added multiple 'twists' to make the story more unpredictable, but almost all of them were far-fetched and failed to surprise me.

Despite that, this movie was a breath of originality from Dreamworks after a decade of bland animations. I'll give it a solid 9.

Very good movie

A movie that I thought was going to be a trainwreck really surprised me. Jim Carrey really steals the show with a phenomenal performance. An excellent film to take your whole family to the cinema and have a good laugh. Very funny!
