Sissi: The Young Empress (2015)
A story that never gets old
I can't say I enjoyed this series as much as the old one from 1997. It's okay that they added a spark of magic to Sissi's story, but the timeline with the animals is pretty boring and aimed at small children. Every episode features some animal in trouble and Sissi seems to care more about her furry friends than Franz.
Things that I loved: the character of Prince Ludwig, the one who lives at Neuschwanstein and designs castles. I really thought he would have been a better match for Sissi.
Also, this show depicted real portraits of Sissi and Franz, scattered on the walls of Schönbrunn Palace, a realy nice tribute to the actual historical figures the series is based on.
Dracula (2020)
waste of time
The first episode was mildly entertaining and I liked the location (the Count's castle), but the next 2 episodes were boring and painful to watch.
Alta mar (2019)
not what I expected
The trailer lets you expect a murder case on board of a lavish cruise ship, but it's actually a story about family secrets from the past. The mysterious murder at the beginning of the series is solved pretty fast, then the story jumps from a family secret to another.
I like family drama, but this show failed to make me care about any of the characters. The acting was not very convincing and, although the story tried to be action packed, I found it pretty boring to watch.
In the first season there were some pretty superficial kissing scenes and a storm that had only 10 minutes of screen time (so much fuss about nothing!).
If the main plot was getting boring to watch with each episode, what can I say about the unnecessary side stories (Veronica's love triangle and the drama of Anibal's women)?
Dark (2017)
I loved it!
I found the story very gripping and the whole idea of time travel very interesting. I binge watched almost the entire first season in a single day.
Season 2 was easier to watch because I was already familiar with the characters and how things work, but the ending left me even more confused than the ending of season 1.
I don't give it a 10/10 because at some points it was difficult to remember all the characters and the relationships between them and some characters' intentions were confusing. Also, in the first season, there was a bit too much suspenseful music.
But, overall, it is one of the best TV series I have ever seen. Very enjoyable and intriguing to watch, although if you try to think more in depth to understand how the time travel works, the whole idea of future influencing the past and vice versa doesn't make that much sense.
Outlander (2014)
Hardly watched half of the first season...
The story is so slow paced, but the real issue is all the unnecessary violence, nudity and sex scenes. In the episode with the wedding, nothing is going on except for Claire and Jaime having sex no less than three times! And the explicit depiction of Jack Randall's most intimate parts turned me off and abandoned this show completely...
