Pure genius.

Monty Python is absolutely, no doubt about it, the best television programme ever. There has never been, and I doubt there ever will be, another show quite like it. The type of comedy they write is amazingly clever and the way it is performed is also spectacular. Monty Python can have me gasping in shock on minute and rolling around the floor the next and no matter how many times I see each sketch it still has the same effect. Each writer is brilliant in his own way too, as we see even now they're still writing brilliant and innovative comedies(except, unfortunately, for poor old Graham) like Fierce Creatures and A Fish Called Wanda, wonderfully magical childrens stories like Labyrinth and Mr. Toads Wild Ride and even documentaries like The Human Face and The Truth About Gladiators. Monty Python continues to make us laugh over and over again and, I think, will never be beaten.

Hocus Pocus (1993)
5/10
Pretty average although very funny in places.

I do like this film, though only moderately. In some places it's really funny and includes some adult humour as well as stuff for the kids, but a lot of it is predictable and has a pretty basic story line. I thought that Bette Midler's performance was brilliant (as usual) and that over all, I would watch this film again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

A funny and really well animated film.
13 April 2001
This is a really good film, especially for kids. It's funny for adults as well as for children and is animated in a way that makes the characters really come to life. Although it's successor, An American Tail, was good, this has come a long way since then and the story line is more my sort of thing. It's much wittier and clever and of course includes John Cleese (I'm not biased, promise!). All in all, a great film.

Labyrinth (1986)

Fantastic! What more can I say?
13 April 2001
Well actually I could say a lot more. In fact, I could gab about this film all day! It's magical and mystifying. The whole atmosphere of the film makes you, well me anyway, wish that you could be there. The labyrinth truly is a magical place and a great home for any of us people who like a bit of adventure. Sarah, the young heroine, is played wonderfully and is a really strong character, as is Garret the goblin king, played by David Bowie. David not only delights us with his talented acting but also sings as well! What more could you ask for! The puppeteering is excellent and the sets are transfixing. Being a HUGE Monty Python fan, you would have thought that Terry Jones penning this great film would be the reason for me seeing it, but no, I've been watching this film for 12 years and only realised last year that Monty Python was even loosely connected. This just makes the appeal even stronger though. A must see film which I can't put down in any way. Brilliant!

A hilarious compilation tape.
13 April 2001
For me compilation tapes don't really work, but because each sketch included in this has been acted out again and edited it works really well. This is one of my favourite films. Although many great Python sketches were left out, the ones that were left in were truly some of the Pythons best work. It's a hilarious film thats full of really intelligent humour.
