Unsung Hero (2024)

SOME MOVIES CHANGE YOU!
27 April 2024
Some movies entertain you for an hour or two. But some movies change you. They leave you feeling like life has purpose and meaning, like it's not all for nothing, and like you want to be a better person (or the best possible version of yourself). Unsung Hero is all of the above!

First, it's a true story about one family and the extreme difficulties they experienced while trying to find a job and make a new life for themselves. Everyone can relate to feeling beat down at times, but not everyone has an unsung hero that refuses to let them stay down.

Helen Smallbone was just that; an unsung hero. She had a faith that could move mountains. She had a love that was unshakeable. And she had a kindness that is to be both admired and duplicated.

This is a beautiful story and I am so glad that it has now been told.

Lastly, the acting was spot on and the storytelling well done.

NOPE
12 April 2024
Twisted. Bloody. Violent. And dark. There is good left in our world, but this isn't it.

First, this story line is nothing new. Spoiler alert: the evil in the world had finally outdone itself and destroyed itself. All that has survived are a few remnants of humanity... blah, blah, blah.

Maybe you need to be a sold out fan of this game to look past how worn out this storyline is. Nope, this is not for me.

Next, twisting up sex with murder in a way that tries to make light of the murder-even make fun of it-just perpetuates that kind of evil that destroyed this science fiction world to begin with.

It's not believable.

It's not funny.

It's not original.

What is it?

It's a waste of time.

It Started Out Great, But...

Season 1 was amazing. The dialog was tight, the story was compelling, and the premise original. Season 2 started out strong, but it seemed like the writers were running out of story by the end of the season. Season 3 is an entirely different animal. The once presidential Tom Kirkman now throws F-bombs regularly. Has his character really changed that much? Is this the same Tom Kirkman as Season 1? And the introduction of sex scenes in Season 3 seems gratuitous and out of place. I wish I could unsee them.

An Interesting Story Marred by Gratuitous Twisted Sex
5 March 2020
I watched the first two episodes and was very intrigued by both the originality of the story as well as the profound questions it raises. The acting is stellar as well. But, in the middle of the first episode, I was slammed in the face by an out of place scene with some perverse sexual content. The writers certainly could have told the same story without adding this creepy element. Nonetheless, I watched episode two hoping that what I had whitnessed was a one-time offense, it was not. Once you see something that perverse, you cant unsee it! No more for me.
