The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
A great series fluffed by a bad ending
I have loved watching Maisels story but why have they given her such as sad ending. I think this is probably down to having to rush the ending sooner than planned and not letting storylines breath a bit more. Weird to see so many critics pleased with the shows bow out.
Season 5 spoilers below
You root for her to make it to only see that she has no meaningful relationships outside of Susie. Guess they are running with the theme women cant have it all. I get that she must of have to given stuff like time with her kids/friends up to make it as a comedian but i just think that they don't do enough to explain or perhaps correct the fact that her kids seemingly dislike/hate her. Despite wanting to be a comedian its not like she was desperate to become famous so I don't think it rings true that she would have become estranged from them. As for Joel they clearly still loved each other so after he got out of prison especially as he did that to protect her.
Odio Il Natale (2022)
This show is the exact same show at Home for Christmas (Norwegian also made by Netflix)
I thought this series was just a knock off of a Christmas movie or very formulaic but I realised in the second episode that whilst the show itself is okay to watch it is LITERALLY the exact same series as another Netflix show that came out a few years ago called Home for Christmas which was from Norway (Hjem til jul in Norwegian). I mean the show couldn't be bothered to change anything about the show. Is this common knowledge or is Netflix trying to pass up an identical show as something new ?
I really had no doubt that it was the same storyline after seeing that the show couldn't even be bothered to change how one of her love interests shows her he likes her by getting up in the middle of the night to bake her bread for breakfast and when she meets him in a night club and gets drunk. I am not kidding when I say exactly frame to frame identical to what happens in the other show.
Noughts + Crosses (2020)
Amazing adaption
The acting of Masali and Jack is truly impeccable, costume design, direction and location. All and all a great adaption of my favourite book. Truly shows how to make an adaption of a book into its own without losing any of the original magic
