The L Word: Generation Q (2019–2023)

Generation Q Finds It's Feet After A Shakey First Season.
17 March 2023
I was a huge fan of The L Word, and was quite excited when I heard it was coming back. That said, upon watching season one of Generation Q, I was a little disappointed. I didn't hate it, but it certainly didn't compare to the original series. I felt disconnected, didn't warm to the new characters and it felt very different from the original.

I'm glad I stuck with it, as it's definitely found it's feet, especially from season 2 and continuing on form in season 3. I've now connected with the new generation of characters, and that good old vibe has somewhat returned. It does lack a little of the seriousness of the original, but the heart is still there. Aside from the musical episode which was, well, I'm still not sure how I feel about that episode, it certainly wasn't terrible and a long missed character returned.

I do hope Generation Q continues for another few seasons, as I'm definitely now a big fan, and crave more episodes.

My Diary of Lies (2023 TV Movie)

Pretty Decent Mystery Thriller
6 March 2023
I have a love/hate relationship with Lifetime movies in recent years. The acting is often embarrassing, the plot diabolic. This was a rare exception.

Secret Diary Of A Cheerleader, was well done for a Lifetime movie, the acting was pretty good too.

New girl at new high school joins Cheerleader squad just after an incident where one of the squad members dies at a party. She basically takes her place on the squad. A few weeks later, another Cheerleader is found dead. Is someone deliberately killing these girls? If so why? Is anyone next? If so who?

I was definitely into this teen mystery thriller, at times thinking to myself this is a little predictable, but as things further unfolded, turns out I was wrong.

It was well done in the sense that it actually wasn't predictable, and had a few twists and turns to keep me guessing until the end.

If you enjoy catty high school teen drama's, then this is a Lifetime movie that definitely ranks higher than a majority.

Almost Perfect!
9 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Only a mild thematic spoiler enclosed.

I was excited but also a little apprehensive about watching this biopic. I was always a fan of Whitney from the mid 80s. I wondered if they would portray Whitney's life accurately and factually. They thankfully did. I have watched a lot of detailed documentaries on Whitney's life story, and the writers definitely did their homework.

Naomi Ackie was phenomenal as Whitney, the hard work that went into her performance, especially when performing, she nailed every move, expression and mimed perfectly. Many, many hours were obviously spent with Naomi studying the key performances. You wouldn't believe Naomi was British, watching her in this movie. I'm also grateful, that for once, they didn't cut too many performances up, and many songs run through the entire song, without being cut to shreds to save time. It's a biopic for a truly talented voice, I'm so pleased that they let us enjoy a fair amount of full tracks, many movies of this genre don't.

The only downside for me, and I understand that the movie runtime was already pushing 2 and a half hours, but so much time was focused on Whitney's early years, that the end felt rushed. There were key points that were missing from the movie during the last few years of her life. It kind of went from the start of her career for a fair amount of time, height of fame to rehab, and the end, so to speak. Despite the rushed ending, it was ended beautifully and with respect.

This was an almost close to perfect biopic of such an amazing talent, one of my all time favourite singers. The music, the accuracy. It was truly beautiful, touching, gave me chills and was thoroughly enjoyable, despite the inevitable tragic end. I think most Whitney fans will not be disappointed.

Watch The Trailer And Imagine 105 Minutes Of That
5 February 2023
To understand the boredom of this film, watch the trailer and add that up to what is on the screen for 1 hour and 40 minutes. Or just watch the trailer over 100 times in a row, and that's what plays out on screen for the entire duration of the film.

I didn't reach the end. I couldn't endure any more of some camcorder type picture of close ups of an entire house of different types of furniture. What on earth made anyone think that 105 minutes of furniture close ups would make a great feature film?

As someone else said on here, this would of been an okay short 15 minute film. It really is identical to the trailer, except the trailer ends after 2 minutes. How this ended up in an article recently, that this was the best horror film in years, I do not know. Other than the filmmakers paid someone to write that article.

Actually Quite Decent, In A Lifetime Type Trashy Way
15 January 2023
I wasn't expecting much, but I do enjoy a trashy bunny boiler type movie. Though this was slightly different in terms of, not so much an obsession with a man, but just an unhinged woman wanting to be someone else, someone successful, in a creepy and cringey way.

Certainly not a classic, but it passed the time nicely, in a lifetime movie/abc way. Not that I'll watch it again, but give it a go if you enjoy this type of thriller. Certainly better than some of these TV movies of the same genre. Was fun to see where it went and how far this woman would go.

Typical stereotype movie, by the numbers thriller.

Sick (2022)

Sadly, Not The Usual High Standards of Williamson's Writing.
14 January 2023
I literally only knew about this movie yesterday. Had no idea it existed until the day of release. I was rather excited when I saw Kevin Williamson had written and produced it. I've always been a massive fan of Williamson, from Scream, Dawson's Creek, The Vampire Diaries, and even Teaching Mrs Tingle. Mr Williamson always has a magic about his writing, especially horror and suspense.

Sick, however, was hugely underwhelming. For a short movie, at 83 minutes runtime, Sick really was incredibly slow (aside the opening scene, but that was hardly exciting) incredibly drawn out, with absolutely nothing going on for 40 minutes. None of the characters were really interesting, neither was the dialogue. Though if you're a Dawson's Creek fan, there was a nod to an urban legend about a snake, which was referenced in the episode "The Scare", that story was told in this movie.

For me, Sick was silly, boring and could easily of been TV episode length. They just seemed to fill 40 minutes with unnecessary dialogue to extend the runtime. The only saving grace was the climax of the movie, but still, it was far fetched and slightly cringeworthy. That said, there were a few decent fight scenes.

All in all, not what I was expecting, and I don't mean that in a positive way. This is not a slasher movie, neither does it rank well compared to Williamson's other horror movies. There's a reason this didn't get a theatrical release. It frankly wasn't good enough.

Nice Enough, But Something Missing
4 December 2022
This was a nice enough, sort of festive move but unfortunately didn't feel very festive. It was based around Christmas, but it didn't have the magical feels.

It was nice to watch a diverse Christmas romance but there was just something missing with lack of chemistry between all actors.

Why IMDB needs me to write a minimum of 600 characters is beyond me, especially when sometimes there's not a whole lot to say about certain movies, and we aren't all movie critics writing a column.

Anyway, this was a pleasant time passer but not very memorable, and I don't see myself watching it again in the future.

Why The Negative Reviews?
18 November 2022
Okay, so this film was a 6.5 for me but I have tried to bump up the unfair low rating.

This was a fun comedy/horror, paying homage to the 80s genre whilst poking fun at some classic movies.

It's a teen movie but as an adult in her 40th decade, I enjoyed it for what it was. There were some genuinely funny moments and was in the same league as The Babysitter if you want to get an idea of the type of movie you're going into.

The only part that was great was the silly exorcist guy, but he wasn't on screen for long thankfully.

Enjoy the 80s music, typical teen comedy/horror, coming of age genre and don't take it seriously, it's not intended to be serious or scary. It's certainly a lot better than some of the recent movies of the same genre and I don't understand the hate.

This movie has wrongly been certified with a 12 rating on Prime, it certainly isn't suitable for 12 year old due to the amount of F bombs, drugs and sexual innuendo.

Give this movie the love it deserves and don't avoid it based on negative reviews like I initially did.

Nope (2022)

My Review Is Based On The Movie As A Whole And Not On It's Directors Reputation
18 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I see people saying this is a masterpiece, it isn't. I've seen quotes about the twist, there wasn't one. People are rating this movie solely on the hidden messages in this movie and not in it's entirety which is confusing many of us who purely want to watch a movie, not for politics and artistic efforts.

I do enjoy Jordan Peele movies, well, I did enjoy Get Out and Us. Nope however, it wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't great. If great means basing 130 minutes of film on making digs at Hollywood and not based on the entirety of a story then I have to rate this as just about average and somewhat bizarre to watch. At times I felt like I was watching a giant Mexican hat glide across my screen for what felt like an eternity. I agree with the message but that didn't make 2 hours and 10 minutes groundbreaking cinema.

If you want to praise the messages in the movie about how toxic Hollywood is in many ways, how greed and disregard for any human life including animals for the sake of money, then praise the message. But as a movie it was incredibly drawn out, over long, at times boring and ridiculous. To me the film as a whole was far from a masterpiece as so many have shouted.

If you're expecting anything on the same level and quality of Peele's previous movies, like me, you'll be disappointed. This was a bizarre complicated mess and could of portrayed it's messages in a slightly different way. Honestly, I spent over an hour incredibly bored.

The Gabby Petito Story (2022 TV Movie)
1/10
Absolutely Terrible Acting And A Poor Representation Of A Life Taken
14 November 2022
This was so bad. The acting was horrific. Skyler Samuel's isn't actually a bad actress, it was the put on voice that made it so bad. No doubt she was directed to portray Gabby in this manner but it didn't go down well.

This movie shouldn't of been made to be honest. It was disrespectful. I had heard some things about the real life case and for some reason thought it occurred 5 years ago but the poor girl was murdered only last year. To make a movie about her murder, and it would of been filmed less than 1 year after her death was incredibly disrespectful to her poor family.

This isn't actually really based on completely true events, a lot of what is in the movie is surmising over what actually occurred between Gabby and her murderer, based on whatever the script writer could find on the Internet. So basically they've cashed in on writing a script about what they thought happened. No one knows what conversations took place between Gabby and her murderer. It was an exploitive and unnecessary! The terrible acting and direction just added insult to injury.

I'm sure Gabby's family didn't want this movie made in the name of entertainment. I'm sorry I watched it. Let the poor girl rest in peace and have the courtesy to let her family live in privacy. This was a poorly executed drama of a horrific loss at the hands of an evil man.

Let's Go Beyond The Personal Drama!
10 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Only a minor spoiler ahead, not one that will give away any part of the movie. I don't consider it a spoiler but I have been told that the T word is apparently a spoiler a few times.

I feel that this movie has had more negativity due to all of the drama behind the scenes than focusing on the film itself. No one here is right or wrong, it's definitily not a masterpiece and I can understand why some people didn't like it and i'll be honest, it's kind of a mess but you can see the intention in it.

I quite enjoyed some of it, it stood quite well as a mystery thriller, similar to Stepford Wives in some ways but with a slightly updated spin on it.

Florence Pue definitely carried the entire movie, it it weren't for her performance then it would of totally failed for me but she really did a good job. Harry Styles wasn't too bad but personally I think it would of worked better with the original choice of Shia LaBeouf just because the character was somewhat aggressive and controlling that would of been better suited to a stronger and more intense actor which Shia LaBeouf is.

It started strong, went odd, picked itself up for a little while before a lacklustre ending. The good origional intention was there but it took a nosedive and got very weird. Weird can be good if done correctly.

I still enjoyed it and it kept me entertained and that really was all down to Florence Pugh. I feel people are focusing on all of the behind the scenes drama and throwing hate at the entire movie before even going into it. I did not, I just watched it.

Overall a weird mystery thriller with a semi decent twist but didn't get a deserving or fullfilling ending.

By the way, I was informed recently that saying there's a twist in a movie is considered a spoiler by some. Hence why I added a spoiler flag. Not sure why as most thrillers generally have a twist and personally I wouldn't call that a spoiler.

Whilst Good Something Was Lacking.
9 November 2022
I can't put my finger on what prevented this from being very good. There was just something lacking. I didn't personally think the male lead was the best choice for the role.

What made this watchable was the always talented Jessica Chastain, she basically carried the whole movie and if it weren't for her I probably would of turned it off.

It was an engaging and interesting true story but poorly executed. Not your average drama/thriller, it was very slow burn, very drawn out and not a thriller as I assumed. I think it would of played out better as a thriller. The 90s camera vibe felt very mundane and wondered why I was watching something shot in standard definition when I am paying for a 4K ultra subscription on Netflix. Took me 40 minutes to realise Netflix wasn't buffering and it was obviously filmed that way because the story was set in the 90s. It was irritating.

All in all and interesting story, just not portrayed in the best way which was a shame. I don't mind a good slow burn but in this case I was just constantly urging it to move on. 123 minutes long when the story could of been told in under 80 minutes cutting out deliberate long and steady dialogue and camera shots.

90s Straight To Video Cheese.
2 November 2022
I remember thinking this was quite good when it was released on VHS. But watching again in 2022 and it's pretty terrible. But I have a fondness for it. This would be a 3 star if it were released in 2022.

Despite the 1998 release year I'm pretty certain this was filmed before then and before Scream 1996. It possibly got shelved until after Scream was released when Rose McGowan was now known. Possibly filmed late 1996.

The storyline is typical 90s bunny boiler thriller but it's the cheesy dialogue and fighting scenes that make this awkward to watch. Some of it's really bad. The only good thing about this movie is Rose McGowan and Alex Mcarthur and the really did their best with the material they were given to work with.

As I say it really doesn't stand up well in 2022 but I still kind of enjoyed watching it again but at the same time had full on cringe moments.

Incredibly Unique And Original!
1 November 2022
I went into this blind, I read no reviews or looked at an in depth plot. I did see a trailer the one with audience reaction but other than that I didn't know the plot.

This was very well done, I don't want to write a spoiler and I won't but this is a multi layered film. It goes from one thing to another and appears to change story before leading into yet another. It is also unique and original which is rare in cinema nowadays because everything is either a remake, a reboot or a copy of 10 movies you've seen before.

The only downside for me was it wasn't terrifying as it was made out to be, especially in the theatre reaction trailer. Was it creepy? Yes! Jump scares? A few. But it certainly wasn't as terrifying as the media and press have tried to make it appear.

What made it good was it is a unique standout horror film that was cleaver, well paced, different, had some satisfying moments and a great ending.

Filmmaking well done and I understand why this has been a hit. For those disappointed I don't think you appreciated what it truly was or was expecting a different type of horror. This will be a movie I remember for some time.

This Was Seriously Ranked As The Best Episode?!
30 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was the 4th and final chance for this series to pull something out of the bag for me to continue watching this and it failed.

Next to Graveyard Rats this was terrible! Even The Outside was better than this

This is not horror, this is sci-fi and a part rip off of a few movies including Body Snatchers. Blood and gore does not make something good. I'm assuming this was ranked best episode due to gore and effects and not the long dragged out episode that dragged and dragged and in parts was incredibly laughable.

I'm officially done with this now. I have no desire to waste anymore time on the remaining 4 episodes. This has to be an aquired taste and isn't for me and no doubt isn't for many others. I like my horror to be engaging, creepy and psychological, not this silliness. Game over.

After Enduring 4 Episodes I Give Up.
30 October 2022
I was very optimistic when I saw this coming to Netflix, especially considering it was presented by Guillermo del Toro. What a tragic missed opportunity. Not sure what I was expecting but this wasn't it.

I've watched 4 episodes ranging from boring, ridiculous and silly. Graveyard Rats being the absolute worst and The Outside being the best of all four, though bizarre it was the only episode that held my attention. Autopsy was ranked the best episode but I don't consider gore and sci-fi with a bit of CGI a great horror. It was sci-fi not horror.

Maybe this series is a form of sub genre that I'm not aware of and neither a fan of, it's just been downright weird and sleep Inducing and I don't have the patience to waste my time on another 4 episodes.

If Netflix choose to do something like this again next year they should choose someone like James Wan to show them how horror is really done. And to clarify, I have enjoyed some od del Toro's previous work so I'm shocked that he chose these stories to be made.

Not Enough Scares For A Series That Goes Nowhere
28 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I have absolutely love everything Mike Flanagan has created, even his earlier work before he was well known. I was extremely excited for The Midnight Club but was left incredibly disappointed.

The premise had a great opportunity, I know it's based on a novel that I've never read but the transformation to screen didn't work very well. It would of worked better had it been based on an idea of and making this series a haunted hospice story rather than telling stories. The stories weren't scary and neither entertaining for the most part, in fact I found some of them incredibly boring. I continued with the series as I was invested in the characters and wish they'd focused on the characters rather than creating made up stories. I would of been far more interested in a story about the main characters and if they'd added in a plot of the hospice itself being haunted (not by the way of the death ghosts they were seeing). The whole plot of the hospice being a possible healing ground came and went nowhere until the final scene of the final episode where there was a hint that this could still be possible. But once again, something that came way too late and abruptly ended.

The series did pick up pace from episode 5 after an extremely slow start, episode 5 being interesting. I felt like it was going somewhere but unfortunately it didn't until the very end and was left on a cliffhanger that we could of done with during the first half. It's left open for a second season but to be honest I don't think it would be worthwhile.

Such a shame as the cast were great, the characters were interesting but this wasn't taken advantage of.

This apparently has the world record of jump scares yet I didn't jump once. I would class The Midnight Club as a teen drama/mystery rather than a horror and it's more aimed at a younger audience. This way way below the high standards of Hill House and Midnight Mass which unfortunately I cannot help compare it's quality to.

Am I Missing Something?
28 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand why people have really rated this episode. I love horror but found this incredibly silly, boring and not remotely scary. Maybe it's an acquired taste. I don't class this as the type of horror that I personally enjoy.

I assumed this was going to be truly terrifying or a psychological horror, as I have enjoyed a lot of del Toro's previous work. This wasn't for me. I zoned out which means I was bored.

This was full of bad acting, robotic giant rat and an incredibly silly story. I hope the next episode's are better, if not then this is incredibly disappointing for me. Maybe it's a sub genre that certain people enjoy. I prefer scares and depth, this had neither.

It Took 4 People To Write This Disaster?!
28 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't even know where to start?! This should of been the movie to end all movies. This should of been epic. What were they thinking? Too many writers spoil the broth, oh that's chef's isn't it. Well just apply thst phrase to the story writers.

Halloween Kills wasn't great or necessary but at least it ended well, the ending was probably only the decent part of Halloween Kills. They should of continued the story from there and have Laurie fight to an epic end. Instead we had 90 minutes of the Corey show. A completely random and bizarre, boring character that was the main character of this movie. Why did anyone agree to this script? I could of written a better script.

Halloween should of ended with Halloween H20 and whilst I agree that Halloween 2018 was a decent entry it still wasn't necessary. They should of at least ended it with Halloween 2018. There was absolutely no need for Halloween Kills or Halloween Ends other than to cash in on the big bucks.

The 11th movie in the whole franchise and it's the worst entry in the entire franchise. Halloween 3 was better than this, even Halloween Resurrection was better than this!

Michael Myers is now finally dead, turns out he wasn't supernatural at all, they just needed to cut his wrists and then put his body in a shredder all along...Here's to Halloween Continues 2026, not yet confirmed but I can see the headline now. He didn't really die, Laurie was just writing a happy ending for her book. Either that or it will get another reboot minus Jamie Lee Curtis. I feel really bad for those who went to see this in the theatre. It was bad enough watching it at home.

A Complete Mess But An Enjoyable Mess.
25 October 2022
If I'd watched this in a theatre I wouldn't of been overjoyed but watching at home it was something silly but entertaining.

This film is a bit of a mess, it's silly, it's very Gen Z and what you'd class as a film students chance to make a low budget film.

The beginning of the movie is chaotic and to me felt a little boring and was treading a fine line between me switching it off or wondering whether to see if it got better. Then it got a little more interesting....

Take a bunch of weird, troubled and spoiled university aged students in an expensive house having a get together during a hurricane (set the scene for a power cut) Play a game similar to murder in the dark yet it turns out one of them is playing for real and soon they all start dying one by one. So it's basically a real game of murder in the dark. Then they all become paranoid and start suspecting each other which leads to tantrums and fighting until someone else dies and they fight again.

The only reason this eventually worked 45 minutes in was because of the who done it theme and trying to guess who was killing everyone. Otherwise it was a bit of a mess with some incredibly annoying characters.

The end was pretty good but the ending will divide people. It will either make you hate it or like the movie and the overall message it sends us.

As a one off watch at home, it passed the time. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't exceptionally great. They also tried to market the movie using Pete Davidson but he only had a very small role in this movie in which he appears to play himself and sets the scene for the movie. He was barely on screen, he only appears during the very beginning of the movie. So Pete Davidson fans will be disappointed.

Cheesy one off comedy/horror with a bit of saving grace.

Adam And That "Voice" Ruins Yet Another Movie
21 October 2022
I watched this upon it's 2020 release but barely remembered it so put it on again for some low key silly Halloween background movie. 5 minutes in and the memories of 2020 came flooding back.

Can someone tell Adam Sandler that "That Voice" is so incredibly irritating and went out in the late 90s and should stay there please! Whilst it may of been funny in the 90s once or twice we are now in 2022! It's not funny, it's irritating and ruined what would of been a semi decent Halloween family movie. We've endured it in Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy and The Wedding Singer, though not at full scale. Does Adam Sandler think it's funny? Or is it a bad habit or something that he personally finds funny, kind of like when you're laughing at your own jokes but no one else finds them funny but your friends pretend to laugh because they don't want to upset you. Pretty sure that how Netflix felt after agreeing to this movie.

Adam Sandler has proved he can actually act, be serious yet still funny. Please stop with the voice that only 10 year olds will find amusing, the rest of us have a migraine and want to throw the TV out of the window.

Movie 7/10 Adam's Voice-10/10 = Movie Ruined.

Underwhelming Reboot That Doesn't Deliver The True Terror Of What Hellraiser Really Is.
10 October 2022
I'm a massive fan of the original, it actually traumatised me in the 80s. I was excited to see what they'd done with this reboot. Very disappointed.

First of all, Jamie Clayton was amazing as Pinhead, she was completely unrecognisable and delivered extremely well. The whole cast was great. Some of the issues was the storyline and pacing. The pacing was incredibly slow, the unnecessary character development which dragged on for over 30 minutes and there wasn't really any real horror until the final 30 minutes. Those still weren't the main issue.

This reboot will be mainly aimed at a new generation who have never seen Hellraiser (1987) It was incredibly unique in terms of it was truly horrific and somewhat traumatising. As the tag line of the original stated "He'll tear your soul apart" And the movie truly did to many of us back then. It portrayed sheer terror of the dephs of hell and back again. And here I quote an accurate part of what I read on a review which sums up why it was so terrifying: "Because of its ruthlessly bleak and gut-wrenchingly horrific view of the human condition* End quote.

For the new generation who will watch this reboot it isn't a true representation or accurate portrayal of what Hellraiser truly is, and that's a lot of people missing out on true terror and full understanding.

Whilst we have come a long way in 35 years in terms of technology and special effects, this did do Hellraiser 2022 some favours with special effects, a great score and beautiful costume designs on the Cenobites. But for me that didn't make up for this disappointing reboot.

I'm not usually in favour of remakes but in this case I feel Hellraiser 2022 would of been better as a remake. I really hope anyone who has watched this having never seen the original will now watch the original to see a horror masterpiece and to gain a better understanding of what it truly is.

Traumatised Me As A Kid And This Is The First Time Watching It 30 Years Later
5 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this at quite a young age a year after release, we weren't supposed to be watching it and my mother wasn't happy finding out, especially as I had to be escorted upstairs for 2 weeks out of fearof using the bathroom alone 😂

I don't scare easily at all, I'm a huge horror fan and nothing scares me, I can name on one hand the only movies to scare me. (The Conjuring, Ringu, The Entity) So I rewatched this ahead of the reboot and it still scared me in a psychological way. It's just incredibly dark, the Cenobites are creepy as hell and there's something incredibly morbid and terrifying about having your body and soul ripped apart in hell, not to mention Frank's slimey flesh in the attic feeding off of humans to become formed again. Then a woman who will commit murder for lust.

This is a disturbing movie which I don't care to watch for at least another 30 years again. It induced anxiety as an adult but that means a job well done to Clive Barker. Thank you for deeply disturbing me as a child and as an adult when most horror fails.

Lacklustre Sequel Which Ironically Lives Up To It's Name.

I am a huge fan on the original, seeing it upon release in 1993 aged 13 was definitely a very fond memory and I've watched it pretty much every Halloween since. I was incredibly excited when a sequel was announced. That said, my expectations going into this weren't low or high and I certainly didn't expect it to be anywhere as great at the first movie because lightning doesn't strike the same place twice and you can't recreate something THAT good! But I was hoping for something in between.

So the original worked so well for multiple reasons. 1. It was 1993 and no one was afraid to push the boundaries a little, especially Disney. Back then and earlier they made some pretty creepy movies that traumatised young kids (Watcher In The Woods 1980 was an example). Hocus Pocus 1993 was equal parts funny, magical, thrilling, pass the kleenex emotional, musical and had a few jump scares. The story at times was a little dark especially in regards to Emily Binx at the beginning.

Fast forward 29 years and it appears that Disney are afraid to film anything remotely creepy or that could be interpreted as slightly controversial. So here we are, Hocus Pocus 2, a clumsy outright comedy. What started off well quickly went downhill. Purely comedy and whilst there were a handful of genuinely funny moments the rest was irritating and fell flat and it was just embarrassing to watch with a high level of cringe. This was intended to be a silly comedy with no thrills, no darkness jump scares or creepiness, no Disney magic, no break out the Kleenex feels, no memorable musical performances and no Binx the cat! It just played out to some extent a slapstick comedy. I absolutely didn't gel with the teenage characters either. Why is Disney so afraid to do kids horror? This is about evil witches that are not really that evil anymore?! They've become nicer with age apparently.

The original cast did their best with the material they were given but was so much more deserving of a much better script. A sequel had been in the works for 8 years, from what I read over the years, previous scripts sounded far better than this rotten tomato. I would also like to point out how the name and look of the high school was different as was the Sanderson Sisters house?

Bottom line, whilst it wasn't horrific, it also wasn't great and what worked so well in 1993 it appears wouldn't be allowed in 2022. When the Sanderson Sisters were something to fear in 1993 they've become tame and nothing to fear in 2022 which defeats the purpose of the story. This truly was a bunch of hocus pocus. The extra 1 star was for the few laughs I got in the first 20 minutes. After that it was all downhill.

The Issues Clearly Started In Childhood!
26 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know how much of this show is fictional and how much is dramatised as I do not know enough about the history of Jeffrey Dahmer. But his dad states he was a good normal kid.....Erm, the fascination with dead animals was kind of a red flag and his father actually turned him onto that.

Anyhow, Jeffrey obviously had a turbulent childhood and his issues started with loneliness and this episode portrays that. But were the police really that stupid? That poor kid and especially when he was already on the sex offender's register?!

This is a very uncomfortable watch but at the same time incredibly well done. Evan Peters is so eerily on point portraying Dahmer it really is genuinely creepy to watch him portray this monster so well. I hope he's recognised and rewarded for this role because it would be truly deserved.
