Lupt (2018)
I was expecting it to be Horror movie, turned out to be a thriller.
My friend suggested me to watch Lupt saying it's a good horror movie. I have read some good reviews about this film. So took a chance and watched Lupt on Netflix. I wanted to see horror in the film, but it turned out to be a thriller for me. Not that movie is bad but its not my kind of film. Yes, the premise was good, but it is more of drama and some lengthy scenes. I don't think typical horror fans will like this film. The movie should have been promoted as a thriller and not as horror. Maybe I watched the full film because of Vijay Raaz and some good scenes of Jaaved Jaaferi. I am giving 5 stars for only for its decent acting and to the director for taking so much effort and making a film. If the director could have managed to tweak the story and make it a hardcore horror ,it would have been worked according to me.
Drag Me to Hell (2009)
I love this movie, it freaks me out and does so effortlessly.
Drag Me to Hell is a return of the classic horror genre. Raimi manages to create some genuine thrills and terrors using the old-fashioned format of surprise: misdirection and suggestion and I absolutely adored it. It's mostly a film for amusement rather than for terror which kind-of disappointed me. As wholly cheesy as that proclamation may sound, it is entirely true. With a tantalizing premise itself, Raimi at times does manage to masterfully construct a chilling atmosphere when it's not held down by laughable sequences. Aside from his fan base, the real reason you would be drawn to this film is it's terrifying premise rather than the actual construction itself.
A Quiet Place (2018)
Very intense movie that surprisingly is all about love, with great acting and wonderful directing.
John Krasinski made one of the best horror films of the last decade. There is only one flaw, the character of Regan is to oblivious of the weakness of the creatures, and she's really annoying and i get why she is but the film tried to achieve the goal of her learning how her father cared about her at the end of the movie, when the father had already died because of her just turning off her hearing aid, and i would understand if she hadn't realised that it was there weakness, but in the barn when she saves her and her brother from the creature killing them using her hearing aid, it quite obvious that she would realise that. So the character of Regan annoyed me but the part in the end when Lee sacrifices him self to save her, it quite emotional even though you now that it could have easily bin avoided if she had realised that her hearing aid was the creature's weakness but apart from that the movie is very well done and has a lot of heart, and some intense sequences, who would of thought one of the actors from the office would have made a brilliant horror movie.
The Conjuring (2013)
Excellent characters. Great scary scenes!!
Foreboding dread and peppered in with some excellent jump scares that will startle. . I loved the part when the chair was flying around the room, the way it smacked the man in the face was absolutely hysterical, and the noises were top-notch, really makes your skin crawl when you hear the footsteps in the hallway. Would definitely recommend.
Gisaengchung (2019)
A masterpiece! Everyone should see this movie!
Definitely a movie you cannot judge by just watching it once. During my first watch, I went "this is an enjoyable movie" but then--once I got to watch it the next time, I came to see all the metaphorical/visual symbols that Bong Joon Ho ever so masterfully put in the production of the movie. As a Korean speaker, I did not need the subtitles but if you do need them, watching the movie twice (or thrice lol) will help you understand the movie better, because during your first watch, you can focus on the subtitles and during your second, you can pay more attention to all the visual details of the movie. Superb movie
