Diplomatic Immunity (2009)
Hilarious!
I've watched this a bunch of times, and it never gets less funny. The only thing I wish is that there were more seasons.
Dyke Hard (2014)
Definitely divisive, but if you like camp you'll love it
I adore this movie. I bought it based on the name alone, and have never regretted it! I'm gay, which definitely adds to my enjoyment, but I've shown it to people all over the sexuality and gender spectrums and they've all enjoyed it too. The film takes inspiration from a wide range of things- including, but not limited to, old-school battle of the band style musicals, the 80s (just in general), sci-fi B movies, scooby doo, and of course John Waters. They have called it a Waters tribute, in fact, and I think it succeeds beautifully on that front.
There are bits where it seems like it might be becoming porn, and also some bits that are pretty violent- it's a cartoonish kind of violence so it doesn't bother me, but if that or sex scenes or seeing people's bits and bobs is a problem for you, you may not enjoy.
Otherwise, I think it is a rollicking good time and highly recommend viewing parties and/or drinking games. Also, Payback is kind of a legit good song.
Clue (1985)
Lifetime favorite!
I have seen this movie so many times that I can literally recite it without watching it, and I still laugh my buns off every time.
It's just...flawless. A perfect film. The screenplay is crisp and fun and great, with the timing of an old-school farce (like Arsenic and Old Lace). The costumes are fun, the house is cool- honestly no complaints. And most of all- the cast! I know everyone says the same thing, but this is an all-star cast. A chain is as strong as it's weakest link, and this chain is impenetrable. No duds. I honestly wouldn't change a thing about it, except the release- why not show all 3 endings?! so stupid! of course it was unsuccessful! How unfortunately to make such an intelligent film, and then such a boneheaded decision on how to show it. Luckily, VHS and beyond have rescued this film and given it the success it always should have had. Love it!
Spy (2015)
DELIGHTFUL
This movie is perfection. Every cast member, from the leads to the cameos, is hilarious. I expected as much from McCarthy and Janney, but who knew Statham had perfect comedic timing?! The action is exciting, the jokes land, and it's just altogether fun.
A lot of reviews here of this movie seem to be confused- of course it's got sex and violence. It's a Bond tribute! That's kind of inherent to the genre. If you're bothered by those things, don't watch it. Also it's R rated! It's not the movie's fault if you're too stupid to realize that means not to bring your kids.
And that's setting aside all the reviews that are angry because of "fat" "horse-faced" "broads". I really wish there was some way to correct for the pathetic man-babies rejecting it on those reasons- how is that POSSIBLY a fair rating?!
And NO, I did not rate it a 10 to counter that. I rated it 10 because the only improvement I can think of is to give it a sequel!!!
