1970s better in every way
4 December 2022
If you're going to make a remake at least try and improve something. The 1970 musical is the favorite version of this story at our house so we're a bit biased. It started out more original by incorporating Dickens childhood for Scrooges but then started semi-copying the musical numbers (rushed tempos and horribly shortened). And a dog??!! Scrooge was much too mean and stingy to have ever entertained having a pet. Hollywood - please please try doing something original. A new score would have been much better to go along with all the other changes that were made. It was like they wanted to tell it a new way but then kept changing their minds and copying bits and pieces of the well done 1970 version. Those who are unfamiliar with the Albert Finney masterpiece will enjoy it I think. But for those of us who treasure that version, this was all a bit confusing.

Worst western ever!

1 star because it was fun watching Sammy's gun skills. You'd think it would be better with a good cast. No lines to remember, dialog is practically non-existent. Even the soundtrack stunk. Time I wont get back.

Too many great versions, skip this one

Not sure what the director was going for. But he did not do right by this wonder Christmas tale of Scrooge. Filming in a horribly echoey abandoned home in the country in Spring time??? Between the echoes and loud background music it's difficult to hear the non emotional actors. The players portraying the Cratchets were excellent though. We watch several versions of this story every year and are always on the lookout for ones we haven't seen. We will not be including this version to ones to rewatch. Following closely to the book is it's only saving grace.

Finally, a real Jesus
15 April 2020
Finally an entertaining show about the life Jesus of Nazereth. Dallas Jenkins and crew have done an outstanding job of bringing the people and culture of Jesus's time to life. We binge watched it several times and are looking forward to more seasons. Outstanding performances. The gospels brought to life. Get used to different.
