Nightmare Weekend (1986)
Kind of a Time Capsule Movie
I enjoyed watching this movie because of how 80s it was. I'm an 80s arcade geek and there were a few scenes in an arcade and the main character's family has a "super computer" of sorts which is actually part Colecovision which made me smile.
Other than that the movie itself is a mix of some kind of combination or Wargames where the bad guys can somehow control and kill people remotely, cheezy porn flick, there's a fair share of of nudity and sex scenes and the actors and actresses really do look like they just came out of a cheesy 70s porn, an attempt of a sweet love story. Oh, and zombies of some sort.
I'm be honest, I have no idea what was going on most of the flick but it was fun to watch because of the reasons above and because it was just so odd.
Worth watching if you're into cheesy B movies and aren't expecting much.
Death Cast (2022)
Disappointed. No Payoff
You know for the most part it could have been a half decent budget horror picture to waste an hour and a half on on a rainy weekend. A group of young actors and actresses take a part in a horror movie and are shipped out to the country for your typical young kid out in the woods horror type activities. And then things start getting real. Ok, been there done that before but its at least holding my attention. The actors./actresses aren't really bad but its clear that any talents they have are being wasted by a lack of a real script. Nothing unique happens for about an hour... and then it just ends. No questions answered, no reveal, it just ends. I assume that the director thinks its artistic ending the movie like this but IMO its just lazy. There's really no reason to watch this.
There's killings and blood but no real gore. An attractive cast but no nudity.
Almost Famous (2000)
They don't even know what it is to be a fan. Y'know? To truly love some silly little piece of music, or some band, so much that it hurts.
I hate to admit it but I cry every time I watch this movie I love it so much.
Everything is perfect, the script, the cast, the soundtrack, everything. Every time I finish watching this movie I feel like I actually lived though it all, and my heart misses it so much.
"They don't even know what it is to be a fan. Y'know? To truly love some silly little piece of music, or some band, so much that it hurts."
Yeah.. I know how it feels.
The Seed (2021)
What A Bizarre Movie
Its not a great movie but not nearly as bad as everyone else seems to be making it out to be. The acting isn't terrible for a what seems to be a low budget movie. The actresses are kinda hot but unfortunately there's no real nudity in it. Honestly I'll give it a 5 if only because it's so bizarre.
The Final Level: Escaping Rancala (2019)
People are Judging Too Harshly
Yeah, it doesn't have the movie stars and production budget as Jumanji (Jumanji btw wasn't a video game) but honestly this was still a fun movie. If you grew up with 80s arcade and home video games you'll likely enjoy this. Its not a masterpiece but it was enjoyable and much better than the 3+ score it currently has.
Zero (2021)
The Seinfeld of Super Hero Shows
Nothing happens... and not in a good way.
Boring.
Paura nel buio (1989)
Really Feels Like A 70's Flick
I love 70s movies and it shocks me that this was released in '89 as if looks and feels like a mid 70's movie. Its not a "horror" but more of a thriller about a young man who preys on woman hitchhikers in his dad's camper. Its cheesy and there's nothing new here but its entertaining if you go in not expecting much.
There's also a small amount of T&A sprinkled in if you're into that.
Let's Scare Julie (2019)
Just Boring
Seriously. I kept waiting for something to happen and nothing ever did. The show didn't even have an ending. Its as if they ran out of money and just said "that's a wrap"
The Thin Line (2017)
Different But Charming
A different take on a young adult romance. I'd never heard of this film nor the cast but I watched it by chance but I was pleasantly surprised. The acting was well done and I found myself actually interested in the characters. Its listed as a romance/comedy but there was actually a lot going on behind the scenes that makes it more than that. Definitely worth a watch.
Ocean's Eight (2018)
Why Watch Ocean's 8 When You Can Watch Ocean's 11?
I watched this entire movie thinking to myself that I've seen this movie already once or twice before, only done better.
Hoax (2019)
Sy-Fi Channel Fare
I didn't expect much doing into this. It kind of looked like your typical Sy-Fy channel quality movie with a Blair Witch movie meets Bigfoot type of storyline. It went pretty much as as expected for about 3/4 of the film. Crew reaches location, crew starts exploring, weird things start happening and then people start getting killed one by one.
Then we reached the last 1/4 of the movie and thing really kind of went off rail for me. I won't spoil it but really there was no real conclusion. Things just kind of changed, and not for the better.
Acting wasn't great but not terrible.
Effects are ok.
Basically this is a film that you'll forget about by the next day.
