Krrish (2006)
Remember, this is a bollywood film
I'll try to keep this short. This film is only good if you do not try to judge it too much. I've seen only a few Indian films and this one is definitely better than those that I've seen. It has funny moments and the action and special effects are a lot better than I expected from this type of film. The musicals are kind of annoying, but I guess, that comes with all bollywood films. Also, I did not know this was a sequel. So it was a surprise when the film takes this sudden weird twist. The best thing to say about this film, is that it is a mix of many different genres and this sometimes works and sometimes does not - but if you go in expecting a lot, you will not like it.

Pleasant Surprise
This was one of the last films I saw at Fantasia this year and I was pleasantly surprised. I really did not know anything about this film before going in, but having bought a 10 ticket-booklet and not knowing what to do with my remaining tickets with only a few days of fest to go, this one looked more interesting than the other films. The director of the film was there to present the film and mentioned that the film was still a work in progress. He also said something about having close to no budget to make the film. At that moment, I was getting worried that I would get stuck watching a film about nothing shot on a homevideo camera. Instead, I saw one of the most original films I've seen in a while. It's kinda hard to say what the film is about, but roughly, it's a sort of metaphysical drama/science-fiction. Watching it, the film was sometimes lingering, but maybe that's because the film was still unfinished and the sound was not always clear. The film sort of grew on me more a few hours after having seen it and that's really when I realized that I liked this film a lot. It would have been nice to see the finished film, but if ever it comes out again, I'll try to catch it then.

Disappointing but some great moments
This is one of the films that I saw at the Fantasia Film Fest in Montreal this year. I would not recommend this film unless you really have nothing else to see. Why was it disappointing? Essentially, the film does not know whether it is a love story or a ninja story. And so it fails to satisfy fully the viewer on either end. On top, the film finishes with a completely unsatisfying ending. I am avoiding descriptions to avoid spoilers, but hope that any readers of this comment will at least express the opinion of one viewer of this film.
Also, this film is a ripoff of Ninja Scroll on many levels. In fact, it tries to be a live-action version of Ninja Scroll, and certain scenes do succeed in being super-cool (hence the voting of a 6), but as the general satisfaction of having seen a good film is just not there.
