Love Alarm (2019–2021)
9/10
Expect the unexpected
15 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'll keep it brief. I really enjoyed this drama. Was the ending a little bitter sweet, yes, and while you may love Song Kang, and you may want him and JoJo to come back together because their chemistry in the first season was so darn good. In my opinion it's better that JoJo chose Hye-Yeong. As Duk-gu (Love Alarm's developer) said with the gifts he gave to JoJo it allowed her to choose who she loves, not just relying on the app to tell her who she is attracted to, because that is what the app did, it just registers who makes your heart race, and yes her and Sun-Ho were a love/attraction at first sight and that can be amazing and heart pounding, but as you see during season one, it can also be volatile. Yes, I know most of what broke their relationship was JoJo's fault, and it's sad to see young love die before it can really flourish, but she was too immature, too broken by her past trauma. She even said she made a mistake by doing what she did, but she also said she would do it again, because she grew from the choices she made and those choices provided the opportunity for the unexpected and, in my opinion, the more mature love waiting for her in the form of Hye-Yeong.

P. S I enjoyed the side characters/plots, just not as much as the main story.

The Bear (2022– )

A show that shows you what good t.v is...
27 June 2023
The Bear is a really good show. The acting, writing, direction and cinematography is all amazing. But there is just something more about it that is hard to describe. It is a great view into running a restaurant/kitchen that I've only seen done well in a few shows or movies. There is a passion behind it that is easy to see and feel, and if you really appreciate good story telling, not just about being in a professional kitchen, which I honestly have no idea about, but I really love cooking, it also about family dynamics, dysfunctional and functional, that is just missing in so many shows, the writing, not the dysfunction. Check it out, I doubt you will be disappointed.

Mafia Mamma (2023)

Wannabe 90's Mafia and 2000's Romance Comedy flick
16 June 2023
I can only hope Toni Colette accepted this film for a pay check. And what the hell was Catherine Hardwick thinking???

Okay, so yes, this movie is really really bad. And not in a cheesy make fun of the 90's mafia movies/ 2000's female led romcoms bad, although, I think that was the attempt. It was part appreciation and part wanting to make fun of/poke at the patriarchy and maybe empower women?? But it was just sooo cringy, I laughed, at the really bad comedy/acting and cringed, at the really really bad writing, in equal measure. They wrote the lead female in a way that was a trying to make fun of female empowerment romcom movies of late 90's early 2000's, but also derided the male characters as either too stupid, childish or only there to let the female led "get her grove on". If this is what major studios think we want to see, then that is truly insulting.

The Menu (2022)

The story is an 8 the writing and acting is a 9

This is a good movie. There is no down fall except if you have really really high expectations for something that has not been done before, because this has been done. Now I don't mean the exact story, but the general storyline of horror show/psychological thriller. Yeah there are cliches but doesn't every movie have some. Once you put that expectation aside you will enjoy this movie. The acting is really good. Ralph is really enjoyable and so is Nicholas, Anna-Joy is good, but I've seen her be better in better movies/shows. I really enjoyed this movie, I would say it's probably the best I've seen in 2022, and I'm including the tent pole movies likes the Black Panther sequel and Avatar sequel.

At least we have an answer to the question...

Warning: Spoilers
If these two morons could fit on that small raft. Then Jack and Rose would have most certainly both fit on that door! Rose was just being greedy.

Lol. For real though, unless you have a love for really really really bad (kinda) shark movies don't waste your time. It's more of a survival movie and if it dropped the sharks altogether it might have been a better movie.

I gave it 6/10 for an enjoyably funny bad movie - 4 for the long winded ending.

It's getting there...
2 February 2022
I really, really love HIMYM. It was a new kind of sitcom. It had the feel of Friends and Seinfeld, but it also had the forethought of the future. And that is what drew people to it. That and the relationships that were developed throughout the show. This show does it's best to capture that phenomenon.... And it's getting there. I just hope everyone gives it the chance to grow.

Interesting.......but not satisfying

Warning: Spoilers
I liked the premise, the acting was decent to really good, although some of it was laughable. The science certainly wasn't there or even close, but I'll play. I really did enjoy the movie. Until the end. Some people said it was lazy writing, I don't know if I agree with that but it didn't feel finished. Now that may have been their intention, but in my opinion it was a wrong decision. They should have left it with Calvin making the choice to stand up. It would have ended on a sad note, but it would have ended. This just left you unfulfilled.

A show ahead of it's time
13 July 2018
This show was the best, before it's time. It would have an audience even now. I don't know what company was in charge, The WB, CW or ABC Family? (They missed the ball) I watched the show when it came out in 2012 and now again in 2018. (Big thanks Hulu!) This could have been as big as "Jane the Virgin" or "Crazy Ex Girlfriend". I would love to see this relaunched, (that's all they're doing these days) But honestly, this was only the show it is/was because of the cast and creators (Sutton Foster and Kelly Bishop, love, love and the girls, and my favorite content creator Amy Sherman Palladino)

Run away haters
9 April 2018
If you don't like the story or the original books. Don't waste your time. Nor waste the time of others by reviewing a movie you hate or haven't even seen. Is this movie a guilty pleasure movie? YES. But so what, The creative team knew what it was and made it well. This movie was well acted, written and directed. If this type of movie doesn't offend, then you may enjoy it. (Stranger things have happened)

Good movie
9 April 2018
I enjoyed this movie. I know this is not high brow movie fair. This is simply a good time movie. You either enjoy the story (or to some lack thereof) or you don't. But to me this movie was a good (guilty) pleasure. The acting, story and the directing was good. This movie and the next one after it, didn't take it self as seriously as the first one did, I was not a fan of the first one. The last two were good though.

It is good if you want a cute romance movie
12 August 2006
Although not the most sophisticated movie. Storyline is cute and Steven Strait, Pell James and Ashlee Simpson were pretty good. Some line didn't make sense and the sceen where he's acting like a rock star on stage not even noticing the groupie and Josie fighting over him was a little ridiculous and tacky. It may not be up to par with other really good romantic movies such as Notting Hill, Sleepless in Seattle, Pride and Prejudice, The Princess Bride, Pretty woman, When harry met sally.(I can add a lot more but I be sitting here for a good solid hour or so)Aside from all those movies it still is cute feel good (if you're a sap like me) movie. PS. The soundtrack's awesome too.
