7 Khoon Maaf (2011)
vishal Bhardwaj's worst
Actually, everybody knew the plot before entering the halls. We just wanted to see how it is executed.
Well, the same drama goes on and on. I so bad wanted to get out.
To list down the flaws: 1. Priyanka looks ugly in the film. Someone like Kareena would have at least made the frame look pretty 2. It's a film on kinky men more than anything. Every new man who enters Priyanka's life achieves a new level of kinkiness, c'mon be real!! John takes the cake, whatever happened to the hunk we knew! 3. Everything about the film..the people, clothes, sets look so unreal..treading on Bhansal's genre. Sick of over the top set and costume drama 4. Where's the story? 5. The climax is a comedy. What was VB thinking?? 6. The music is a huge huge letdown. Darling was anyway coming out of everything, so the film didn't offer any new sound It's so sad that the film-makers try to pass on their illogical thinking to audiences, and assume that we are going to lap it up..and say wow! Priyanka deserves an Oscar for this one. Sure! Oscar for the ugliest makeup of the year.
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007)
Bad Bad Bad
Yet another all style no substance drama ( err no drama too). A film that has many music videos but no story or screenplay. Big stars, Short skirts, high boots, fashionable jackets, expensive glares, London/ Paris streets, but ZERO content. When Shaad Ali makes a Sathiya in simple homely locations, its delectable. Why, then, do you want to go abroad and increase the tourism of those countries? I feel when one has no story, you can not cover up with extravaganza.
Abhishek still can not act. Preity is the same. Bobby and Lara are wasted, though they act better than these two. Amitabh is trying to make a statement with his hideous attire. And the audiences are being fooled by the promos.
JBJ is yet another disappointment in the name of progressive Indian cinema. It's light years away from Hollywood.
Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007)
Does not come close to the hype
Watched the first screening. Must say that the film has garnered a lot of curiosity because of excellent marketing, but it fails to impress. Vivek Oberoi, of course, is excellent. This genre works for him. But overall the film is very confused with no definite screenplay. The plot is paper thin and unnecessary songs, especially, the Arti Chhabria ones, just spoil the experience. I wish the film would have been tighter with a better screenplay. Apart from Vivek Oberoi, the performances are no good. Sanjay Dutt looks very conscious in front of the camera. Wonder what Abhishek was doing in less than a minute role!! Amitabh is wasted too.
Definitely not good cinema.
Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006)
Most overrated film
Saddest take on extra marital relationships. No justification for anything. Why SRK falls for Rani? How is she so different from Preity? Why is Rani angry with Abhishek? What does SRK give her? There is no justification and as a viewer I do not get interested in any relationship whatsoever. Because nothing looks real. One does not feel any emotions and the stars are crying all the time! Everything looks artificial and concocted. The director does not seem to have any depth and any understanding of the sensitivities. One should have a look at Arth and Silsila to see how this kind of cinema should be attempted. Good locations and costumes do not make up for an atrocious film.
