The Gone (2023)
If there is nothing to watch give it a go
How this series gets so many high ratings is beyond me. I love detective, mystery thrillers. This was none of those. Plodding trying to introduce culture. So patronising.
The acting was as wooden as the hurling stick. Two leads seemingly wandering around doing very little. Detectives?
I honestly wanted to like this series but it failed to ignite. Banal script. No action. The only saving grace were the beautiful New Zealand Landscapes.
The Irish characters were pretty irrelevant really. No Jason Statham here.
I plodded through to at least get some kind of closure. It could have been done as a 90 minute film.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive (2019)
F1 Fan's wet dream
A great binge fest. Gets right to the nitty gritty. Well done Netflix. Let's have more of this kind of fly on the wall series. Couldn't wait for the next episode. The highs the lows the drama the politics it's all here.
You have to feel for the teams at the back of the grid. The professionalism and strength to keep going is admirable. The pressures on everyone is mind boggling but the rewards are high. A great insight to the drivers and teams.
Huge respect. How anyone can be negative about this series is beyond me. Good luck to all for the upcoming season 2024. Let's hope for a nail biting finish. 5 stars.
Ray Donovan (2013)
Fantastic TV
What's not to like. Compared to the feral reality trash dished out by networks this has to rank up there with the best. A strong cast. Exciting story lines. Complex characters. Twists and turns. It's not a documentary just escapism. The photography is excellent. With a really good soundtrack. Don't understand some of the low scores. Professional Haters? Maybe!
Fury (2014)
It's a action film. Not a bloody documentary. The donuts on here are saddos.
It's just cowboys and Indians. Tension, action, excitement good acting. It's not a documentary. Not all productions can be Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers. It stacks up with a lot of other war flicks. It's not as bad as some of the "Professional Haters" make out. I'm not a Brad Pitt fan but I thought he does a good job. I've watched it a couple of times and it's a different war movie.
